My Reviews

Flash Killer

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I've used other add-ons to help with intrusive advertising etc, and in my opinion, Flash Killer is an excellent choice.

I have used this add-on for a number of years now.

The two major advantages for me is that, by default, no flash apps can run. If I want to see something, I just click on the blocked area. It's my choice, not the web developers.

Secondly, my CPU usag remains nice and low, and I'm not forced to go hunting for the culprits that are responsible for sending my CPU activity through the roof, whichever page/tab they may be on.

Downsides? Just one that I've noticed, some sites that rely heavily on flash for navigation and other functionality becomes a pain to use. thankfully these sites are becoming rare AND you have the option of allowing Flash Killer to 'Allow' flash to run on a site by site basis.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.2.1).

Xmarks Sync

SPYWARE - I used to love Foxmarks Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Foxmarks, as Bart Simpson once said: "you've changed man, you used to be cool". I found Foxmarks very useful, and it worked very well. Now it's changed to Xmarks and is going to use my Bookmark data, WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. Whether this was the intention of the developers from the beginning or they saw a way to make some dollars, either way, using my data without my permission IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. I have now uninstalled it and have installed "SyncPlaces" instead.

Walnut for Thunderbird

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I tried a previous version of a walnut theme and it was tacky, but this version is top notch and very tastefully done.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.8.47).

Silvermel

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

In my opinion, this has to be one of the most 'classiest' themes for TB.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.1.0_b3).

PitchDark for TB

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

A well implemented theme, goes well with Ubuntu's current brown/orange scheme. Also easy on the eyes if you someone who works at a screen all day.
