I really like and appreciate this addon. I've been using it for years, while other addons come and go.
However, RSS Ticker has suddenly started showing ALL of my RSS feeds in the ticker. I used to be able to set it to only show one particular RSS feed and not all of them. Now I no longer see that in the options. Maybe it was updated? To only show a feed from a particular site, I can't subscribe to any other feeds. Please add that option again.
Thanks for all your hard work!
Come on now :P I want to set a timer for an hour and a half lol. Seems silly to have to type 5400 seconds instead of just 90 minutes. Also makes it very hard to just glance over and see how much time I have left. I'm not so quick at dividing 4844 by 60 in my head. I just installed this, so that's the only real feedback I have so far. Otherwise, it seems like a straightforward, simple to use add-on.
Edit: I don't use the add-on bar on the bottom, to save real estate. So I moved the Egg Timer icon to my navigation bar at the top of the browser. It does not behave well up there at all. It flashes/jumps every time it counts down a second. Sometimes it jumps down behind my bookmark bar so you can only see the top half. Sometimes it disappears altogether for a second or two. This is pretty distracting, constantly seeing this jumping icon out of the corner of my eye. The hunt for a Firefox timer continues.
Just installed it and works fine so far. Very much needed functionality in a web browser. I had actually been keeping Chrome open just for language pages.
Rather than opening a selection translation in a new tab, it would be cool if we just got a popup window. Don't know if that's possible. Also, for some reason when I try to reassign the hotkey to ctrl+alt+= it doesn't work. I tried a few other symbols and they work, just not the = sign. Bizarre!
Edit: Another problem I just noticed. Even when you've reassigned the hotkey to something else, it still remains tied to ctrl+alt+t anyway. This is annoying because Firefox's default hotkey to open a new tab is ctrl+alt+t (or maybe it's Tab Mix Plus). I don't understand why addon devs use that exact hotkey for their addons. I've stopped using some addons just for that reason and that's unfortunate because I actually liked this one. Uninstall.
**EDIT JULY 12, 2012:** Sorry I meant the hotkey for "duplicate tab" is ctrl+alt+t. As for the hotkey not saving, there's not much to explain. The addon was freshly installed. I realized that the hotkey for it was ctrl+alt+t, which conflicts with "duplicate tab," something I use frequently. So I tried to switch the addon hotkey to ctrl+alt+=. Upon pressing the new hotkey, it didn't work. I tried setting it numerous times, it didn't work. I thought maybe it was just symbols that couldn't be used as hotkeys, so I attempted to set the hotkey to ctrl+alt+\ That hotkey works fine and it's the one I'm currently using.
I also commented that even after assigning a new hotkey, the old ctrl+alt+t still remained tied to Translate This. This was simply a restart problem. Upon restarting Firefox, ctrl+alt+t was no longer a hotkey for Translate This and it had returned to it's original "duplicate tab" function. Sorry, I should've updated my review to let you know that. I forgot about it because I usually go for days without restarting Firefox. (Updated my rating to reflect this.)
I don't understand. I wanted it in my toolbar. So I dragged it there. And it disappears as soon as I start the countdown. I've goofed with all the settings, selected display clock on toolbar, blah blah. It keeps disappearing. And it won't save my countdowns even when I select "Save List." Is it just buggy or is it just very un-user friendly? This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.12).
Useful item, but had to uninstall. It uses the same keyboard shortcut as Duplicate Tab and cannot be reconfigured. No way I'm giving up Duplicate Tab for this...This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.1.24). This user has a previous review of this add-on.
Doesn't work with FF 9.0.1
This is a great addon. It would be even better if it actually worked. I just installed it in Firefox 9.0.1 and YouTube videos still autoplay.
:( Why's the icon so gigantic? Really impacts the experience for those of us who prefer minimalist layouts. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.5.20).
Since the latest update, if it's set to Basic Mode the options window opens every time you launch Firefox. Glitch, I'm sure and I hope it gets fixed sooooooon... Other than that, this is a good add-on. I haven't seen any popups or spyware as AliceH and other reviewers have stated, but maybe my popup blocker is better than yours! :P jk Anyway, the creator (or modifier) has posted a link in the description to an older version without any adware or nagging. I'm going to downgrade to that and hope the adware in this version gets nixed soon.
Works fine, except there needs to be a hotkey for really closing a window. File > Quit works, but what about with popups that don't have a menubar? I looked at an image on Amazon that opened in a popup. I had to disable the addon, and restart Firefox in order to close that one popup. Maybe a hotkey like holding down Control while clicking on the X could actually close windows? I might be missing something. Other than that, this extension is exactly what I'm looking for.
For some reason I can't get the bookmarks bar and address bar to display at the same time. If I have them both selected in the options menu, only the address bar will display. Very disappointing because this seems like a great idea. I'm going to keep fiddling around, but this seems like an uninstall :(This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.3).
Bad, Firefox. Bad, bad! Rather than wasting your time creating a buggy, feature-lacking, disappointing sync add-on, why didn't you just partner up with Xmarks, who have years of experience under their belt, and already have a very successful and useful product with a dedicated user base? Now instead of keeping thousands of Firefox users happy, many of us are disgruntled because we're losing one of our most valuable add-ons and having it replaced with poo. I'm sorry, but after enjoying a golden egg for years, we're not going to be impressed with poo. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.4.4).
My old Minimize to Tray stopped working when I updated Thunderbird to 3.0. This addon does what it says, simply and with no nonsense. Plus it has a couple new options that fix some of my minor complaints about the old version. Thanks a lot!
Had to uninstall because it apparently also makes popups open in a tab rather than in a separate window? This theme is the only thing I changed and suddenly everything will only open in a new tab. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.2.5).
Would be great if it supported multiple rows of tabs. Tab Mix Plus, one of the most popular add ons, allows you to have mutliple rows and this theme makes using that feature cumbersome because the second row covers up the address bar.
Also, color choices would be great too.
Other than that, this theme is fab.
I think I said, "This thing is awesome" about three times out loud after I installed it. Exactly what I was hoping for. Great job!
What would be even better is if it had a little text box next to it (like the regular search box), instead of a pop-up window.
Perfect. Would be nice if you could choose thesaurus.com too, but hey I'm not complaining. And to the guy who complained that it should be integrated into the search engine toolbar, I specifically don't want the dictionary search there because I already have too many search engines installed. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.1.6).
Simple and does exactly what it's supposed to do. The ability to assign hot keys would make this perfect. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.2.1).
I may be doing something wrong... When I right click on a link, it still just opens up the context menu. As far as I can tell, this addon isn't doing anything. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.4).
