My Reviews

Feedly - Beyond Google Reader

Not a bad replacement for GR Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Once I'd figured out how to start using it, it seems to perform well. There are some oddities in the way it displays or lists feeds, but they may be just me getting used to it. Perhaps I'm just too used to GR.
It's a bit slow, but I expect that with so many people transitioning to Feedly from GR, the servers are getting a hammering.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (10.2.1-signed).

PrintPDF

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I've used this for a while and it's pretty good (better than Primo) but, like others, I find the "one page print" problem a real nuisance, especially when saving things like news articles. Burdensome to have to keep checking that the whole lot is there or not; but if it's a bug in FF, then that where it needs fixing.

Incidentally, the only other way of getting a decent PDF is to install Cute PDF as a printer, plus the "Print this page" toolbar button, and then "print".

SmartSave Thunderbird Extension

Update for 3.0 Please! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is an incredibly useful add-on for anyone who needs to archive mail outside the Thunderbird application.

HOWEVER, it no longer works with the latest release of Thunderbird (I.m not surprised, given the changes). It would be great if the Author could produce a release for 3.0.

eMarks

Long overdue Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I like this very much. I tend to keep important emails (password confirmation, software licence keys etc.) in my email system for quite a long time so that I can retrieve them quickly if needed. eMarks helps a lot to do this.

My only suggestion is that eMarks could profitably be further developed to be similar to Firefox bookmarks. Subfolders for different topics and bookmark tagging would be the "icing on the cake".

Search Cloudlet for Google, Yahoo and Twitter

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is one of those really valuable Firefox addons that comes along from time to time, and which causes extreme grief if it ever stops working!

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.6.0.41).

Bookmark Duplicate Detector

Toute suite! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is one of the most useful FF addons. I can hardly wait to get the FF3 version and weed out all those dupes that have crept in during the last few weeks.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.6.4).

Distrust

Version 0.8 stopped working Rated 3 out of 5 stars

This has been an excellent add-on, but 0.8 on Win XP2 with FF 2.0.0.14 has stopped working completely! Please fix as soon as possible.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.8).
