Perfect Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Works perfectly. Does the job it says it will and oh, has it saved me some situations already! Only took some minor tweaks of the user-settings to figure out how to let it allow CC mails to still be sent when you actually mean them to be. (IE, when sending an email to a group that needs to be able to reply-all to the same group!)

Nice add-on, which can save from the unpleasant situations.
But, I've found that it doesn't work together with "Secure Addressing" add-on - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/secure-addressing
When it is enabled, the addresses are not changed to "Bcc" as they should.
Could it be possible to make them works together?
Thanks for your kind words. I am not familiar with the Secure Addressing addon but from an initial reading, I can see how the two might conflict. I would guess that things are similar to the conflict with the Send Later addon. I do not think it will be possible to make them work together. Sorry.
Great !! Rated 5 out of 5 stars
just loaded it.....works great on all new emails and forwards.
Doesn't work with a Forward To message filter (TB 38.6.0) Rated 5 out of 5 stars
I'm trying to find what appears to be the Holy Grail of forwarding for Thunderbird, the ability to automatically take any message landing in a specific Inbox from a specific verified sender and then redirect it as BCC to a list of recipients.
All the solutions I have found so far fail.
I thought Use Bcc Instead would be the solution to the defect in the built-in TB functionality, namely the 'Forward To' option within TB message filters, however, despite telling Use Bcc Anyway to always convert To: and Cc: to Bcc: in all outgoing messages, the mail forwarded by the message filter is still sent using a To: header.
Shame, I thought it would work.
[ review amended from 1 star to 5 stars after complaint by developer]
How Fair is This?
You complain about an addon NOT doing what you want even though it never claimed to do so. You yourself say it was your Holy Grail and that nothing else does what you want. Then you give a 1-star review to an addon that never was designed or intended to be what you want: a filter action. One can understand your disappointment. But not your lame and unwarranted 1-star rating.
FIREFOX 39.0 do not accept installation Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Please to help me
This Addon Only Works in Thunderbird
It cannot and never will be able to do anything in Firefox. Sorry
This is a smooth and incredibly useful tool. Rated 4 out of 5 stars
This is great for an organization which uses Thunderbird and has to preserve privacy. It works exactly as it says it does, and the ability to customize settings is great.
The only problem we find is that when sending to a mailing list from Mac Contacts, the entire list is considered as one address and so regardless of the number of addresses in the list, the pop-up is not triggered to suggest using BCC. When using lists within the TB personal address book, the add-on behaves as expected.
One other thing - it would be nice to be able to remove the check box that says "When sending, convert all To and CC recipients to BCC" so it wasn't even an option. Unchecking the "enable change all recipients" in preferences doesn't seem to have this effect.
Hello and thanks. Please use the email link provided on this addon's page for support. Having ANY mailing list on an email sent as TO or CC should result in a warning unless auto-BCC is enabled. So please contact the developer as perhaps you have found a new bug. Thanks!
SeaMonkey version wanted Rated 5 out of 5 stars
It does what it claims. I've installed "Use Bcc Instead" successfully for Thunderbird running on Windows 7 and Linux, but since I usually use SeaMonkey for my email needs, I'd love to see this extension adapted to work with SeaMonkey, too! This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.2.1).
Great one but only works for Thunderbirds Rated 5 out of 5 stars
This addon was great for me, thanks David!!
Sometimes I found myself on chrome/firefox browser wish this addon would be available on there. Then I found a Gmail-Auto-BCC extension on this links http://blog.afteroffers.com/automatically-bcc-gmail-emails-chrome-extension/
I've been using it for a while, it's the best addon for auto Bcc on Google mail.
Excellent- does just what it says. Rated 5 out of 5 stars
No flash, no splash, just does the job for you. Love it- set it up once and forget about it. Only improvement I could suggest (would give it 5 stars): auto fill the checkbox in the popup window when it appears- sometimes don't want all BCC so haven't set to always do it, and too easy to skip through that when keyboarding- done it twice. *5 stars as promised- that solution is even better than my suggestion. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.2.0).
Look for something like this in version 3.2.1
Had a second request for something like this. Rather than burden all with having the checkbox set by default, I changed the addon to "remember" the last set state of that checkbox and restore the last state next time the dialog is displayed. So if it gets set at least once and not un-checked by the user at some point, it would appear checked by default.

This a great add-on!! When I started using Tbird I just assumed all e-mail addresses in a group would be BCC'd as they are in many other email programs such as Gmail and Outlook...not so!! It's imparative to keep my group e-mail addresses private, so this resolved that issue.
Thanks so much for this!!

I have been using this add-on since I read about it... once you make all your settings to function the way you want it works very very good... it has reminded me many times... have been using it nine months and I recommend it to everyone :-)This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.1.3).
A Function That Should Have Been There! Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Thank you so much, David! This should have been provided in Thunderbird all along, but since it wasn't it's great that someone with your insight and programming skill could realize the need and fill it! Works perfectly to meet the privacy needs of many of my friends who'd rather not spread their email address around too far. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.1.3).
Finishing the job Mozilla didn't start Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Thank you; very useful for my newsletter mailings. However, what I would really like is to be able to individually set Address Book Lists to BCC only. Is that possible for a future release?
And, as a datapoint, runs perfectly with TB v17.0.2 under Ubuntu Linux v12.04 LTS
La cercavo da anni! Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Era quello che cercavo da tempo. Spesso la fretta mi ha fatto spedire e mail con indirizzi in chiaro quando non dovevo. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.1.1).

Does not load says incompatible with 13.0.1This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.1).
Not sure what's happening here. Reviews are not the best place to report/resolve problems. That is why you can click on my name on the addon's page and then send email. Please note that this does run on my TB 13.0.1 on Windows XP.

Hi, email just send ;-)
hello, just a little feature request : it would be nice if you could add just a simple option to choose to always send with bbc (default). thanks for the job.
Good Idea! Thanks!
You asked for it, you got it. Available now in version 1.4. Thanks for your suggestion. You have been added to the contributor list.
Great little helper! Rated 5 out of 5 stars
This is one of the tools that are so useful and simple that you wonder why the feature is not included in the Thunderbild core itself. Sending out an email to loads of people with the recipients' addresses visible to everyone is not just very annoying, it can be a major breach of privacy protection. With this add-on installed, it just can't accidentally happen anymore.
The settings enable you to define your own level of restriction: You can set the maximum number of recipients in the "To" and "CC" fields that may pass without warning (10 by default), and you can choose wether you want to be just warned (default) or stopped when that limit is exceeded.
There's only one item left on my wishlist:
For some reason that is a mystery to me, Thunderbird still doesn't have a built-in mail redirect (= bounce) function, so an add-on, usually Mail Redirect, is required to fulfil this basic task. When one bounces mails using Mail Redirect, the Use Bcc Instead add-on doesn't work. I have no idea wether it would be complicated to make the two add-ons work together, but that would make it perfect.
For your review. I wrote this to"fix" a problem a client was having with an employee who was not paying attention. I am glad others find it of value.
I am not familiar with the Mail Redirect addon or how it works or why this addon doesn't play nicely with it. But I know that this addon doesn't work properly with the excellent Send Later 3 addon. I have communicated with the author of that addon and perhaps we can find a way to resolve this. However, there are technical difficulties that may prevent addons which work by intercepting mail send event from ever getting along perfectly. I guess there are always limitations.
