Works in XP, not in Ubuntu 8.04 Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Hi, I have been using Lightning in XP, Thunder 2.0.0.14 since today and it worked very, very well. However I have migrated to Ubuntu 8.04 and now it does not work as well as before. When active, it slipts the window in three parts: calendar, mail and messages when before you only saw email or calendar depending on the button selected, therefore all the information is mixed and not nice. I hope you will update it to Ubuntu.

I think the work being done to this add-on is OUTSTANDING! Unfortunately, I agree with nPHYN1T3... the 0.5 UI is vastly superior to current versions. I initially upgraded to 0.7 when it was released and immediately reverted back to 0.5 because of the UI. Now, I'm very apprehensive about upgrading to newer releases. However, I don't want to be stuck on version 0.5 forever.

So, I respectfully request that the next release of Lightning (0.9???) provide the option of a 0.5 UI. In particular, having the mini-calendar and upcoming events panes on the same screen as my e-mail.

Your efforts are very much appreciated.

I love lightning. One suggestion though. If someone could create a down-loadable holiday list for lightning, I would love it. Thanks and keep up the good work.

Overall I really like this add-on. Mybiggest concern is with the current lack of support off-line, in which case I have to agree with other posts, it renders lightning pretty much useless. Looking forward to the word being done in this area.
While I do like the way the calendar currently handles I do continue to have problems with tasks that appear to be related to the google add-on. Hopefully these will be resolved otherwise I would have given it four stars.

I think this program, all T-Bird add ons and extensions actually, would be greatly enhanced by having a coherent easy to find and use instruction program. For instance, Lightning has a section for TASKS. Great BUT I can not figure out how to download the items in here so I can take the list with me away from the computer.

As far as going to Mozillazine and the other, hundreds seemingly, help sites, well, there you go how do find the right one?

Not everyone is as good at doping this stuff out as the people who write them or answer the questions. No argument that all of this stuff is so much better than Outlook and its' variants, still...

Good but not a default calender Rated 4 out of 5 stars

possible to share a calendar file (I use both a desktop and laptop)? Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Hi
great tool!
my only wish is ... I use multiple computers, is it possible to setup the calendar file on my mailserver so I can use the calendar client on my laptop and have changes showup when I use the calendar client on my desktop?

Good extension that integrates tightly with Thunderbird. Offers both calendaring and task management. Still has a ways to go before it offers the compatibility of Calgoo or the featureset of Outlook. Good for individuals, needs to hook into Google Calendar to be good for teams.

I'd like to find out if anyone intends to do anything about this horrible UI change since version .05?

I can't stand the unmovable toolbars and buttons along with the space wasting 3 pane view. I mean this sort of thing just caused Pidgin to fork and I'm starting to wish someone would do the same here and give us the users some choice. I know I'm not alone in this but it doesn't seem like anyone on the official development side wants to address this.

It's like having the Outlook calendar and task management system in Thunderbird. I just wish you could print tasks too. One other issue is when I make a new calendar, nothing changes, and both calenders continue to operate as if there is only one and the same calendar. Anyone have a fix for that?

a few problems Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I appreciate the effort that went into developing this add-on. In the interest of helping improve it, here are the bugs I've noticed:

1) Message preview panel cannot be resized (even though I get the two-arrowed cursor when I hover over the horizontal divider).

2) Alarms don't sound for tasks.

3) I sync my calendar with my Google Calendar, but if the Google Calendar info isn't retained when I'm offline, that function is nearly useless. I don't know whether that's a problem with Lightning itself or with the Provider add-on.

Thanks.
