Lightning 0.8 Rated 1 out of 5 stars

In Windows Thunderbird 2.0.0.12 with ReminderFox addon, the latest version of Lightning causes the status bar at the bottom of window to be hidden, and the resizing of various window panes to fail. Please fix this, as earlier versions of Lightning did exhibit such behavior.

Thanks for .8 Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Task functionality is great. I like the additions to the events (reminder icon)... Event list at the top and the search are great features as well.

And an many thanks for the drop and drag email to create events. Seems like a small thing but you just saved me an hour a week.

Looking forward to .9

thanks again.

Still can't move Today Pane Not yet rated

I thought for sure the next release following 0.7 would give back the ability to relocate the Today Pane back to the left hand side, underneath my folders, like we were able to do in 0.5. Unfortunately, it appears this function is still not back.

I like the add-on, but I need two features added back before I can recommend it:
1) ability to move the Today Pane to the left hand side under the folders window.
2) ability to show a small month calendar in the Today Pane by default, rather than having to click on the pane and selecting the calendar.

Please bring back these features.

Lightning 0.8 trashed my T-Bird's window configuration Rated 1 out of 5 stars

BE AFRAID. Be VERY afraid!!!

CON: I was using 0.7 Today Auto-Update told me 0.8 was available, so I installed it. BIG MISTAKE!!!

I lost:
1) the Task Bar at the bottom of the Thunderbird window

2) the ability to scroll all of the way to the bottom of my Local Folders in the All Folders frame, if I have T-Bird in less than Full-screen.

3) the Mode buttons at the bottom of the All Folders frame.

I uninstalled L-0.8 and everything, listed above, came back.

So I tried to revert to Lightning 0.7
When I installed 0.7, I was informed that my Lightning data had been converted for use with a newer version and was no longer compatible with 0.7, so 0.7 would be disabled. I tried to enable 0.7 anyway, but no buttons or options could be found.

Somebody didn't test L-0.8 very well!!!

Don't listen to some of the other reviews. I have lightning working on both vista and ubuntu machines. It works flawlessly. If you use the provider for google networks addon for this you need to use a nightly build of the gdata (provider) addon found at http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/calendar/lightning/nightly/latest-mozilla1.8/windows-xpi/
for it to work until version 0.4 of the provider for google is released.

Hopeful about the future... Rated 4 out of 5 stars

We have been testing Lightning v0.7 with Thunderbird 2.0.0.12 (20080213), and apart from a few missing features, it works great! The ability to extend and tweek our e-mail client with add-ons like this is one of the main reasons we have used Firefox, Thunderbird and others for years (the other reason being security). Several reviewers have discussed using it as a replacement for e-mail + Palm desktop 4.x, which is exactly what I want. When FT search and better task management show up in v0.8, we'll be really excited (saving a 5 star rating for then). Would be interested in hearing what other users who have moved from Palm to Th/Ln combo have to say.

Works fine with Vista. I also use it with BirdieSync to link with my windows PDA to get full use out of it.

I use Outlook at work and lightening works seamlessly with that for setting up of meeting requests etc.

Awesome addon.

Needs work and testing!! Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Lightning has its own toolbar, which integrates very badly in the Windows version of Thunderbird. Rather than appear as a separate toolbar, it attached itself in the middle of Tbird's standard toolbar, causing some of TB's standard buttons to scroll off the right side (where they were unattainable!).
Opening the View menu, Toolbars... and selecting the Lightning toolbar will turn it off, thank goodness! This is where things really get screwy, when you start turning the Standard and Lightning toolbars off and back on. The behavior will have your screen redrawing and flip-flopping you madly back and forth between standard TB, TB with a badly integrated Lightning toolbar, and Lightning with no TB email in sight.
I do credit Lightning with pointing out a shortcoming in Tbird, which I had never encountered before--and that is, the Standard toolbar does not adapt to an overflow of icons. No drop down list at the right side or any way to scroll to reach icons out of sight.
Because the Lightning toolbar integration issue was so severe, I uninstalled Lightning before using any of the Calendar features.
Fix the toolbar so it appears as a separate toolbar, instead of being appended in the middle of the Standard toolbar, and I'll give Lightning another trial run-through.
And, yes, I did NOT have the toolbars locked when all this maddening behavior was occurring.
I really like Thunderbird, Firefox, and everything Mozilla has ever done. I'm sure you guys will get Lightning right, too--I just don't know how the problems I encountered did not show up in your own testing. I'll watch for Lighting 0.8 and give it another go.
