I like Lightning very much. Perhaps it isn't as professional as others. But it's free and therefor 5 stars, if only I could give one more.

Moving on to Evolution Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Basically a great add-on and I used it for years. But now I moved all my computers top Opensuse 11.1 64-bit and thought I would in a first step keep Thunderbird. Alas - Lightning not working on 64-bit (and thus only two stars) and so I made the step and changed to Evolution as I lost the belief that Thunderbird will ever deliver what they promised years ago (I was one of the early users. With evolution I now have full Office functionality back as well. Disappointment in Thunderbird is the reason for this change, Lightning imcompatibility for 64Linux just made me do it right now. So far I am very happy I made the change, as much as I regret that Thunderbird never became a professional solution - at least what I understand under "professional".

Gutes Programm - aber ... Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Without a calendar functionallity I would never use thunderbird. Adding some Add-Ons it works fine for me.

Lightning / Ubuntu problem Rated 4 out of 5 stars

John Doe, lookie here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/thunderbird/+bug/278853

Just a note: instead of "sudo aptitude install libstdc++5" I had to use "sudo apt-get install libstdc++5". You could also go to "System -> Administration -> Synaptic Package Manager" and install the library libstdc++5 via the GUI.

I love Lightning to death, myself. The Intrepid incompatibility is the first time it's ever not worked for me, but it's running smoothly now.

This is really bad! There is no way to print tasks. For that reason, Outlook is better. If it gets this functionality, then it would be worthwhile.

Lightning sucks! Rated 1 out of 5 stars

since they launched this v0.9 my calendars "have been updated", but this was with Fedora. Now that I shifted to Ubuntu no lightning.xpi works -- and my data is gone whereever :(
I googled, spent my weekend @ #calendar, nobody helped.

Open Source really lacks documentation -- except Ubuntu -- and the geeks just think we must be grateful for using it.

Then let me try Evolution instead, maybe they treat me more friendly and respect my data.

Love the Lightning Add-on!!! This add-on is what makes Thunderbird such an effective program!

Is there a way you could add a year view (like month or multi-week view) where 'day events' could be shown.

I use Thunderbird as my Imap client for its speed and great filtering ability. Then I found the Lightning add-on and since then I have not opened my Outlook 2007 since then! I don't usually write reviews but once in a while you just have to say THANK YOU!!!

Where can I post feature requests?

I need a plugin to notify the user when the user try to create an appointment for the same time where another appointments still exists (clash of appointments).

Out of the box worked as expected. Interface so smooth I almost missed it on a busy screen.
I'd prefer a 24 hr time option and access to a 'standard' calendar of National Public Holidays.
Early days yet but I like the ease of adding events.

It seems good. Although, from what I can see in the javascript code the calendar data are stored in an sql database. WHY!? If you use the standard ICS format then I can point many programs to the same ICS file and have them all have access to them. I have a sidebar widget that can display a small calendar as a prompter. Then, (should lightning directly support the same file) I could use it for email, calendar, and sync with my windows mobile. Why re-invent the wheel? Just give me a better, easier to use wheel.

Lightning is an awesome addon for thunderbird but i'd like to see an option to switch the AM/PM timestamp to 24h formatted timestamp in the calendar view.
