problem with arch Rated 5 out of 5 stars

could you please at least give an response: how long will it take until we can use this amazing add-on again?

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (4.7.8).

If you are using Archlinux, it is up to the Arch maintainers. If you are using stock builds from mozilla.org, it should "just work". Please contact support if that is not the case.

EDIT: Sorry, I missed the title. So then the first part. You can use stock builds as a workaround in the meanwhile.

problem with Arch Linux Distribution Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Hi,
Arch provides thunderbird w/o builtin lightning. You have to install lightning as plugin
If builtin lightning is available as version 5.4 for thunderbird, why the stand-alone plugin is not available as version 5.4?

Update Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Please Update this for Earlybird 53.0a2/54.0a2

The a2 builds have Lightning bundled, please check the Add-On Manager to see if it is maybe just disabled

Disabled at TB upgrade time, now where is the option to re-enable ? Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Upgrading TB on a friend's computer from TB 3x, on the last hop I unchecked the Lightning option believing the notification of "Lightning is now embeded in application" refered to a previously installation as a plugin. Now I can't find where to enable it back.
[EDIT] I checked & know I can download it from AMO or Plugins Manager/Catalog. I just wanted to know if there is an enable/disable option in Options/Preferences.
Thanks

You can enable/disable Lightning in the add-ons manager, which you can find in the tools menu.

next months on the left please Rated 5 out of 5 stars

would be cool to see hte next months on the left ( maybe just 2 months extra, with all the days) just on top of the schedule list.

Not enough nowadays Rated 3 out of 5 stars

If you just need a simple calendar, Lightning is for you.

But in the new age, where computers are needed to keep track of your precious time, Lightning is not more than an oldie.

It can only handle a single calendar from one domain via CalDAV and can't get all calendars from a single domain.
On Android everything is working fine. Now it would be nice if it would also work on the desktop computer.

As this bug exists since 5 years (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=707138), I don't think anything will be solved in the near future. I'm really willing for a donation. But for this, the software has to work as intented.

Endlosschleife Geistertermin Rated 5 out of 5 stars

TB 45.8.0
Lightning 4.7.4

Endlosschleife:

Lightning does wrork on a fresh installa of ubuntu 16.04.2 Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Hello I like versy much lightning but it doesn't work with the default thunderbird version of ubuntu 16.04.2 : thunderbird 45.7.0

"Le composant binaire nécessaire pour Lightning ne peut pas être chargé, probablement en raison d'une mauvaise combinaison de versions. Lightning 4.7.4 est installé, mais vous devriez utiliser une version de la série 4.7."

I tried to install olders versions of the addon without succes

Please contact the ubuntu packagers for this issue, or make sure you are using Thunderbird from mozilla.org instead of the one provided by Ubuntu.

Very precious addon but... not synced in beta version Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I'm using a Thunderbird 52.0b2.
A beta version of Lightnings ( 5.4b1 ) is supposed to be available for my version of Thunderbird (see : https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Calendar/Calendar_Versions )
But it's a mystery where to load it...
https://addons.mozilla.org/fr/thunderbird/addon/lightning/versions/beta?page=1
*The main goal of the Calendar Team is to synchronize the Lightning release cycle with Thunderbird*

A pity : it a little hard to remain beta tester.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (4.7.4).

The beta versions of Lightning are now included with Thunderbird, so there is no longer a need to upload them to addons.mozilla.org. Also, the beta functionality on addons.mozilla.org is in the process of being removed. If you are still getting older Lightning versions, please try uninstalling Lightning from your profile, on the next startup it should install the one packaged with the distribution. You may also need to re-install Thunderbird Beta (without an uninstall), but the first variant should be enough.

CalDav sync broken with TB 45.6.0 Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Lightning will publish events to a CalDav server, but won't receive updates made by other clients.

Please correct timezone for Turkey (Istanbul) in Lightning Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Time in Turkey is given by UTC+03:00 year-round. This time is also called Turkey Time (TRT). The time is currently same as in the Arabia Standard Time and Moscow Time zone. Turkey Time was adopted by the Turkish government on September 8, 2016. It is also in use in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

So, it must be:
---
"Asia/Istanbul": {
"ics": "BEGIN:VTIMEZONE\r\nTZID:Asia/Istanbul\r\nBEGIN:STANDARD\r\nTZOFFSETFROM:+0300\r\nTZOFFSETTO:+0300\r\nTZNAME:TRT\r\nDTSTART:19700101T000000\r\nEND:STANDARD\r\nEND:VTIMEZONE",
"latitude": "+0410100",
"longitude": "+0285800"
}
...
"Europe/Istanbul": {
"ics": "BEGIN:VTIMEZONE\r\nTZID:Europe/Istanbul\r\nBEGIN:STANDARD\r\nTZOFFSETFROM:+0300\r\nTZOFFSETTO:+0300\r\nTZNAME:TRT\r\nDTSTART:19700101T000000\r\nEND:STANDARD\r\nEND:VTIMEZONE",
"latitude": "+0410100",
"longitude": "+0285800"
}

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (4.7.4).

We are making use of the olson timezones data, which is updated regularly. The latest development version of Lightning uses the most recent changes and should have timezones updated (slightly different probably, but the result would be the same). I agree it would be great to get timezone updates out to existing versions quicker though.

Auriez vous une solution ? Merci

Incorporating Gmail Reminders? Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Any chance a future release will allow users to pull in Google's new "Reminders" as well as tasks and events? That would be SUPER handy. Honestly, I'm surprised no one has asked about this yet (unless I'm looking in the wrong place?). Anyhow, great work! This add-on works great for me! Will be making a contribution as soon as "Reminders" start showing up!

Incompatibility to TB through time Rated 4 out of 5 stars

At one time TB and Lightning were fully compatible and the last one was "included" in some way into TB. But then TB continued beeing developed (now they are distributing V 50 Beta 3) while Lightning remains incompatible to TB 49, the one I have currently installed. As long as was able to use both together, I was really happy and satisfied using them. It would be ideal to have both tools integrated (as it was for a short time) or made compatible in such a way, so that a user must not worry if he uses "automatic updates" (which was my problem). Do you have any suggestions for me until a Lightning version compatible with TB 49 appears? Thanks!

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (4.7.4).

Lightning is still integrated into Thunderbird, this has not changed. If it is not the case for your installation, I'd suggest contacting support.

Needed improvements Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I like TB a lot, been using it for years. My suggestions regarding "Snooze for" on the "Reminders" list - it should have:

1) also "weeks" on the pull-down list

2) fully customizable list of the default values above and extended to 10 or more positions

Incessant freezeup make this unuseable. Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I agree with "I Give Up". A great tool but incessant freeze up makes it entirely unuseable. Sadly that leaves Thunderbird as only an email program not a full featured personal manager.

I Give Up Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Well Thunder bird updates and Lightning stops working again.

I expect it's fixable; but I've got a desktop widget that does a decent job of linking up with google calendar, so I think I'll go with that; and return Thunderbird to just being a mail client.
