I'm using Lightning with an Exchange 2013 server in a corporate environment under Linux on a daily basis. Apart from minor problems (dismiss on reminders seems to be ignored when TB has been running for weeks), it is working great and it is an invaluable tool for event planning/management without having to resort to Outlook.

I love it - especially in combination with the Exchange EWS Provider Plugin (

My wishlist:
- a possibility to directly review the calendar if i get a meeting invitation
- improved Microsoft Exchange integration (this is a killer for corporate users)

PortableApps SeaMonkey 2.33.x and Lightning 3.8b1/b2 Rated 5 out of 5 stars

For all the people who are using (i. e. are limited to) SeaMonkey and Lightning in a portable apps environment, because they don't have admin rights on their systems: John T. Haller found a solution to include the necessary VC++ 2013 DLL files.

Invaluable! Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I absolutely love this add-on! It makes time managing and keeping track of events really easy and the interface is easy to use.

If I had one criticism it's that I'd like to be able to see the day as well as date on the today pane as I use it to keep track of when bills are due to be paid and I like to know which days these are going to occur on, but it's only a minor quibble. :)

Convert to stops working Rated 4 out of 5 stars

The convert to feature in the context menu is greyed out since the last release.

Is this a bug, feature, or accident?

Its a bug and I believe it may have been fixed recently. Please check with Lightning 4.0 when its released.

I think it is a great add-on considering it is free and takes a lot of work and allows an alternative to Outlook. It does need work. I do wish it were just included in Thunderbird instead of having to install it separately.

Also, it would be nice if you could graphically highlight and choose multiple consecutive days to set and event, and if the events would show up as horizonal graphical bars across days and such.

It does have a few quirks, but again, it's free so thanks for the hard work and if you can get them to just integrate it straight into Thunderbird that would be even better.

App is stable, but limited. It does allow you to filter events, but then there is no way to export just that limited subset of events. You are forced to export your entire calendar. It is not possible to simply select that filtered subset of events and do ANYTHING with or to those filtered events.

It was two years since I did not use the Lightning extension so I downloaded it to give it a try. What a change! The extension is now stable and allows me to manage my Google Agendas, synchronizing events in both ways. No issues so far. Really appreciate the work. Thanks to the developers. I got rid of Outlook definitely.

Please change TMZ for Moscow in Russia! Now Moscow time is GMT +3, NOT GMT +4.

Junk Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I only gave it 1 star because you can't give 0. No calendar events show up from Google Calendar. Was looking for an Outlook replacement. How disappointing. All you would have to do is make this actually work and you could squash Outlook. Uninstall...

Question sur la dernière version avec TB sous OsX Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Something to fix Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I've always loved this addon, it's a "Must Have", but sometimes I cannot completely rely on it.
Last bug I found, at least on my side, is that when I save a date with lowercases in my google calendar via ipad or iphon, it doesnt update in Lightning and I cannot see It.
I always need to write in uppercase to see every single date in TB.

Anyway, many thanks to developpers!

this happens only with one calendar created in google.
other ones work fine even with lowercase.

For we it works perfectly, allowing to use Thunderbird as a calendar - synchronized with my Exchange account and mobile phone. It's only a bit slow at startup if you have lots of events scheduled

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.3.2).
