Nice addon, wish a couple of things were added Rated 4 out of 5 stars
First, I echo what Infinity said on 2016-06-27, that the edit (full source) window always pops up too big, and then I (in Win 10) use the Windows+right-arrow button to get it so I can see the OK/Cancel buttons at the bottom. Seems like that might be a simple-ish fixed if reviewed.
I use this add on for lots of simple edits, sometimes throwing out a bunch of useless mime data in it to strip the email down to the core text which is all I want to archive for myself, etc., but another thing I've lately been trying to do is fix messages that are part of a long conversation, but a correspondent replied at some point with their mobile phone (I'm guessing the default Android email app, e.g., does this), and it breaks the conversation because the proper message-ids are not set in the References and In-Reply-To headers.
If the conversation is important enough, I may want to manually fix this, but the problem is, even once I fix it, it does not show up in 'open in conversation' within Tbird. I later discovered the workaround to that is to make the header changes, but then closee Tbird, go find this file in your profile directory:
delete it, and then restart Tbird. That's not too terrible, unless you have a really huge profile, like I do, with thousands of messages in it -- the rebuild takes a long time, on a fast PC.
My suggestion would be that, if possible, after changes are made to a message, Header Tools Lite does something to Tbird to force it to reindex *just the message just edited* as if it had just come in new, with those headers, and then would get properly threaded into the conversation I want it to.
Reasonable? I have no idea, just thought I'd voice the opinion. I've read some bug reports from people with similar problems, possibly trying to solve the issue in other ways, but if this Add-on could just change in the way I described above, it'd be great.
Thanks for your efforts thus far!
The only addon I use Rated 5 out of 5 stars
This is the only Thunderbird AddOn I use. There are numerous situations when I want to change the header / body of a mail I have received or sent. I wish it handled Base64-encoded text (ie decoded the test so you coded edit it). But its still a great thing. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.5.2).
Hugely useful but some annoyances Rated 3 out of 5 stars
This is a hugely useful addon that I use extensively, but it has some annoying problems.
On my laptop (resolution 1366 x 768) both the header edit and full edit windows constantly appear larger than the size of the screen, so the entire title bar and the OK and Cancel buttons are not visible or reachable, You then have to manually drag window borders to shrink it down and get the buttons within reach. However, the next time you launch either edit window, it's back to the same huge size again, so you have to go through this window sizing exercise every single time. The window should never be bigger than the desktop that it's being displayed on, and it should also retain its last used size and position.
The second annoyance (don't know if this can even be fixed) is that making simple adjustments to emails (e.g. email subject changes) changes a date somewhere that affects display order so that the edited email jumps to the top of the list rather than staying in its original position. It's weird because the sent or received date remains unchanged, but various email clients end up displaying the emails in incorrect date order once edited. Also the recipient name gets changed when viewed in web mail clients. Instead of showing the name and email of the person the email was sent to, it shows your own email name and address (as if you had sent it to yourself). This is despite the fact that no edits have been made to either sender or recipient. It does not seem to affect Thunderbird, but when accessing the same email account in a web browser, I have a bunch of emails in my sent folder where the recipient name is me.
.... is this still alive? Rated 5 out of 5 stars
I wanted to try this Add-on but I am on 37.0.1 so I will add my voice to the requests for an update and give it a potential 5 stars :)
EDIT Sorry. My mistake! It works fine. Just as well that I gave it 5 stars! I think I was trying to put in the wrong version.

This add-on is a must for me, absolutely fantastic, it helps to keep my mails organized.
Unfortunately, "Change header details" option does not work anymore in TB v31.4. "Edit full source" does, but it's a bit more dangerous if you only want to change mail subject.
Rated 4 out of 5 stars
Very useful since most people are not organised at all and tend to just ask me questions by replying to their latest email - regardless that they are quoting an invoice or some irrelevant message and confusingly off-topic subject. Not to mention all those people who write an entire message in the subject and leave the message empty!.
I really wanted this to also handle optimising embedded and attached images. I need to recompress & shrink all those bmp screenshots and oversized photos.
Absolutely Indispensable! Please update for TB 30! Rated 5 out of 5 stars
This addon is absolutely indispensable! I don't go a single day without using it numerous times to keep my messages well organized.
Sadly, today I upgraded Thunderbird to version 30 and had I known that it was incompatible with the current version of Header Tools Lite, I never would have done so.
I do hope we can expect an update soon! Thank you so much for your contribution.
I've changed now the compatibility info, it's compatibile until 31 versions.

works great, very useful. It would be great to automate the execution, for instance when the message arrivesThis review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.5.2).

unuseful for me.. what would be cool is a way to disable & create header fields that generate id's automatically when email is sent.. to disable some mime headers added by the email client & personalize itThis review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.5.2).
Batch support Rated 4 out of 5 stars
It's possible add the batch support? I have many email that i want have the same subject but now it's impossible :-)This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.5.2).
Invaluable Tool Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Very handy for dealing with those idiots that send emails with no subject and also for those supplier emails that say "Invoice from xxx" but without an ivoice number or subject. Finding emails is so much easier with a descriptive header. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.5.2).
Works with new TB 24 (Linux) Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Love this. Use it to organize work as I annotate subject lines to better organize emails. The older TB Header Tools Extension 0.7.2 stopped working after I updated to TB 24.
My thanks to the developer for working on this. Hope it continues to work :)
Works great. Useful for unified messaging gateways. Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Paolo, thanks for this great extension. It works without problems on my Thunderbird and my mail store (Cyrus IMAP).
This is a huge need and time-saver when it comes to processing emails from unified messaging gateways, e.g. when you get faxes or scanned letters by email. All of them have the same title and sender, so it's impossible to tell what's inside, and each time I search for something, I have to open them all. Horrible. With your extension, I can give them a meaningful subject, one that tells *me* what's inside, and I can put a sender and recipient in. For those broken devices that can't even put in a date, I can even fix that. This helps tremendously.
Thanks a lot!
(P.S. Suggestion: Some UI help with the date field would be good for those who don't speak RFC822 natively :) , e.g. a date/time picker.)
Great for minor header details Rated 5 out of 5 stars
I subscribe to the 'voice message to email' service that my phone carrier provides, and filter and save these emails into a special folder. When the email arrives it has a subject line like: 'call from xxxxxxxxxx'(10 digit phone #) or 'call from an unknown sender' or 'call from a private-user'
With Header Tools Lite, I can rewrite the subject line to provide more pertinent detail. 'call from Mike's cell' rather than 'call from a private user'. I also like the idea that none of the other details are changed (unless I want.)
My only problem is with the security aspect. If I ever have to produce a saved email for a legal purpose, It may not be accepted, When you compare the sender's copy with the recipient's, they will not correspond, and then the whole document may be discounted. (Courts are funny that way!).
Legal issues aside, I found that this extension works fine, right out of the box, on Thunderbird 17.0
Good job! (4.5 stars)
Sehr gut, aber (noch?) nicht perfekt! Rated 4 out of 5 stars
Sehr sinnvoll und funktioniert an sich auch sehr gut. Nur die Option "max chars set to -1" ist buggy!
Einen entsprechenden Fehler-Bericht wurde bereits an Entwickler gesandt.

Excellent. Finally allowed me to move up from TB2. Easily modify subject line on any incoming email. Some of my uses:
1.Bills folder sort by subject,
2.Purchases folder, sort by subject,
"61.50,visa , Power saw
3. Proj Name, date, remarks
(group related messages w/sort by subj)
Also good when sender subject lacks clarity, etc.
Es lo que necesitaba desde hace tiempo !!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Fantastico ... Estaba buscando algo asi desde hace tiempo, para cuando corresponsales poco cuidadosos envian mails sin 'Asunto' (Les ponia etiquetas con el 'Asunto', pero no es muy practico)
Por el momento hace lo que dice
Excellent Add-on Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Works as advertized. This type of feature should be a basic function in T-birdThis review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.4.4).
