Extremely usefull but I have one feature request Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I find this plugin excellent but there is one behavior I would modify: when I write to multiple people, I would want the language information to be saved for the group of people and not for each people individually. My language choice changes whether I write to someone in a multi-people email or in a one person email.

Hi! I'm glad you like it!
It only stores the language to the people individually if it has never saved for them. Once you have your people individually and set the language, it will not be overwritten.

Anyway, If this does not work for you, feel free to send an issue here:

Extremely Helpful. Works fine...
Waiting for the guessing based on text because I write to new addresses very often...

Really helpful Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Working fine, it really helps me a lot, having correspondents in several countries speaking different languages.

I'm just wondering where the data is stored? For trouble-shooting... you won't need it in everyday life. And if there was some indicator (flag, or just text) in the status bar, that would be lovely. Just some suggestion for future versions.

EDIT 2015-01-10: Thanks for the reply! I found the data in the user preferences (file pref.js or preferences extensions.automatic_dictionary.* in config editor). As for the little status bar flag I dreamt about, I contacted him directly and got the answer that he prefers to keep the add-on as simple as possible (and I do agree).

Thanks for your review!

The data is stored in the preferences system of Thunderbird itself. In your Thunderbird profile folder (in your disc).

I don't fully understand your feature request, sorry. Feel free to email me with details or file an issue here: https://github.com/beltrachi/automatic_dictionary/issues/new

Excellent Idea combined with a bad Idea Rated 3 out of 5 stars

The intended function of this addon is worth 5 stars indeed.
It works as expected is is very handy for multi language communicators.

BUT: The "collecting usage data" thing is evil - and a bad idea at all. Nothing that is on google statistics is "anonymous". NOTHING.

NO matter if it is opt-in or opt-out, if you don't tell what data exactly is collected, you will loose a lot of trust. Even if you tell you may loose some trust.

I think if you really want input for improvements, ask your users on a less intrusive way.

For instance it would be nice to see the list of stored combinations and probably modify/remove them (in the addon options window).

Thanks, Regards.

I'm glad you think it is worht 5 stars.

About the anonymous data collecting, I ask the user just after installing if he wants it or not. You only have to click the "no" button. It's no big deal.

And the data collected is well explained here https://github.com/beltrachi/automatic_dictionary/blob/master/COLLECTED_DATA.md

I'm great fan of privacy, this is why I let you choose to participate just after installing the plugin. And I'm showing everybody the source code to let anywone verify what I assert that i'm collecting,

Besides that, thanks for the improvement suggestion. It has been already commented here https://github.com/beltrachi/automatic_dictionary/issues/6

Thanks for your review! Any constructive feedback is always welcome.

Muy Bueno! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

es un complemento muy útil para aquellos que tienen que escribir en más de un idioma. Y funciona a la perfección.

Very good Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Excellent add-on, works great.
I just wish that when you have a dictionary assigned to an address, you could right click on the message body to temporarily change to another language just for this one message (it happens to me to write in different languages to the same person) without changing the default language.

Thank you for the addon.

Great Idea! Try it! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Great if you switch between languages from recipient to recipient. Remembers the friends/colleagues you write in English and those you answer in Spanish or German and so on. Installed without problems. Could be extended with shortcuts for switching the dictionary for new recipients.

I had a very nice conversation with the developer Jordi and helped him to improve the plugin. In the most recent version (1.2.2), the addon works just perfect. Thank you for this helpful addon :-)

Simple but convenient Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I used to switch between English and Dutch spell checking many times per day. First I was looking for an addon that would recognize the language I was typing, but this perhaps even works better.

Nice Idea, never worked Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Although the idea is great for everyone who has to write in different languages regularly, I've never got this addon to work. When using this with the addon dictionary switcher or simply selecting a different language via options->spell check->select language, it would always tell me that the language has not been saved.

--edit: works now. thanks for the explanation and addon.

Not tested with dictionary switcher

I'm sorry buy I hadn't tested with dictionary switcher yet, as I did'nt use it. After your review I checked it and saw that my addon does not detect when the language is switched by the dictionary switcher.

My addon works if you choose the language, on the upper "Spellchecker" button selector, not in options > Spell check. Maybe I've not insisted in this enough. I've updated the plugin description.

Thanks for your time.
