Great for keeping videos, chat windows, etc. visible while you work Rated 5 out of 5 stars

"Always on Top" is one of a handful of add-ons that I always install along with Firefox, and use fairly regularly.

This add-on adds a little thumbtack icon that you can drag up to the tab bar from the customize drop-down. You click the thumbtack icon to toggle that browser window's always-on-top behavior.

Typically, when I've got a tab open with a video or chat, and I need to work on other tabs, I'll drag the video-containing tab out of the browser window frame (making a whole new browser window with just that tab), and then toggle the thumbtack on that window to keep it (and the video or chat page) on top.

A few reviews mention a bug where the thumbtack icon gets out of sync with the browser window's always-on-top style, and I've noticed this behavior as well. Toggling the thumbtack icon gets things back in sync right away, so it's only a minor annoyance once in a while, and not enough to subtract a star from such a useful little add-on.

Works, but it interferes with Tab Mix Plus-shortcuts Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Sadly the shortcut CTRL+ALT+T is already in use for the very widespread addon "Tab Mix Plus".
So I have to use another addon instead of "Always on Top".
I would come back to this addon, if there was an option to modify or disable the shortcut.

Nightly Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Could you add Electrolysis compatibility to your really awesome Firefox addon ? Electrolysis seems to go into the next major FF release and thus a huge bunch of addons must use a new API in order to continue to work.

Commands not working, no icon in customising Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Basically non-functioning from what I see.
No icon present in customizing to be moved, only the text is below the icon space.
Control-Alt-T takes you to google URL INVALID pages .

Needs additional installation information added to the Add On page Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Seems fine with the limited amount of use it's had, since only just downloaded - however note as mentioned by some other reviewers the pin icon isn't automatically added to the toolbar upon installation on latest version of Firefox. I also needed to go into "customise" in the menu to find this and manually drag it into my always-visible icon set.

Great addon, thanks! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I have used this daily for years. It is an indispensable part of Firefox for me. Works perfectly in Firefox 43.0.2.

Needs to be better for Firefox beginners Rated 4 out of 5 stars

The icon isn't automatically added to the toolbar upon installation. I need to go into customization to find it. A Firefox newbie probably wouldn't know this.

Does not work Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I installed it and nothing seems to be working. There's no toolbar button and the shortcut does not work.

No está funcionando (It's not working) Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Hace más de 10 días que no funciona. Tengo Firefox 37.0.1
(More than 10 days does not. I have Firefox 37.0.1)

It works okay. Rated 4 out of 5 stars

However sometimes the icon and the state it shows gets messed up. Particularly when break of a tab to create a new window.
I also whish it was restartless I scarcely need it so I could just enable it on demand.

Not more, not less. This addon is exactly what i needed and i am very grateful that someone has taken the time to do it. All my linux environments had a way to pin a window over the others natively but i'm often stuck with a windows machine and this addon has helped me to feel a lot more comfortable.

// The only bug i have found so far:
- open a window
- navigate
- open another window with a netflix video (may work with other video sites)
- pin the video window
- click on other window (notepad, firefox, ...)
- click the fullscreen button from the video
- exit fullscreen

>> the always-on-top option is selected
>> it shouldn't be: the window will not stay on top after this

++ workaround: click the always on top button twice after the problem happens

This is *perfect* to use combined with "Pop-up YouTube Video". Feels like the panels feature on Chrome. Working fine in Pale Moon 24.7.2(x64). I love you <3.

Essential, but very buggy Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Use this all the time to keep videos in one window on top while browsing in another. Constantly disabling & re-enabling due to bugs.

It works great, but it has quirks. A major annoyance is that the addon disables itself if you create a new window, but still 'says' its active, meaning you have to disable->enable it each time. Each window should keep its always-on-top and maybe even have inheritance on popped tabs.

There are 3 ways to activate always on top, View->Always on Top, the shortcut Ctrl+Alt+T, and the pin toolbar. The pin no longer shows by default on the newer versions of Firefox, go to View-Toolbar-Customize to add it.

Sort of minor but I dislike the shortcut Ctrl+Alt+T. I understand why the author could not use Ctrl+T but Ctrl+Alt+T is really uncomfortable to do with one hand, and if I have to use two hands for a shortcut, whats the point? Ctrl+Alt+X etc would be better. Flash also captures the shortcut if its in focus (if you use this to watch video content), but the pin is really great for avoiding this.

This addon is quite good, it even works on multiple windows in order so you can overlap them. However with the current shortcut and the issue with new windows it's far from perfect.

Doesn't work!? Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Frustratingly enough this seems ot be the only addon for having firefox be always on top; and as it isn't working for me I'm even considering changing web browser. There's no pin appearing; and the picture you've displayed of a pin appearing is of a very old version of firefox. There's no pin anywhere on my browser! and ctrl+alt+T doesn't work. I've updated everything to the latest version. Bah!

Great for video or Research Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is a great utility for when your watching videos or doing research as it allows you to have the window in the corner of an application without falling behind.

my only request for a future version is that the always on top was per window

Plays havoc with other open windows - no return to full screen from desktop Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Nice idea, like the pin. Works well to pin the current Firefox window.
HOWEVER it plays havoc with any open window/applicatin in Windows.
When you select any other app on the taskbar, it does not go full screen. Instead it is behind the current window.
It's a real pain. What benefit you gain here you lose on other apps.
You have to dock down the current window/s to see the other apps!.
Please fix the code so that when I select other apps on the taskbar they do actually go full screen as they should. Arrrrgh!

Useful. But the button's position cannot be customized. For Windows users, there is an alternative on system level:
