Very useful / One small thing missing Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Thanks a lot for this add-on. Exactly what I searched for!
One thing is missing. Additionally to the "Show HTML" button it would be nice if there were also a "Show Simple HTML" button. This is, because in most situation where "plain text" ist not sufficient to read a mail, "Simple HTML" does the trick with no need for "Full HTML"
Again: Thanks for this very useful add-on
No button to add from message window Rated 3 out of 5 stars
1. "The button in main tollbar has to be added by customizing the toolbar"
2. "The button in message header pane has to be added by customizing this toolbar."
#1 here above can be added, #2 can not, no View HTML button found in the compose window. Is this a bug? Win 8.1, Thunderbird 45.0
Follow-up: I stand corrected. I mixed up message window with compose window. Sorry, I am very new to Thunderbird (2 weeks). The addon works, but this was either way not what I hoped the addon would do.
There has never been a button in compose window. This addon and its buttons are thought for reading messages - not composing.
Fehlende Funktion / Fehlfunktion ? Rated 5 out of 5 stars
So weit - so gut.

great add-on - one feature request Rated 5 out of 5 stars
it would be fantastic if I could push the button and then forward or print an html-mail as such (upon printing or forwarding thunderbird falls back to text-only).This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.6.4).
Great add-on, hope message header button appears again one day Rated 4 out of 5 stars
My default is plain text mails. Because many others often send html mails, this add-on is very useful to view them without changing my default reading style. To load the remote contents, you've still to click on "show remote content", which requires another click on a different location on screen.
Since the merger between Thunderbird and Thunderbird esr (24.2.0) and up I miss the message header button of this add-on, only the other tool bar buttons are available to me yet.
Excellent addon Rated 5 out of 5 stars
I've been using it for a couple years now, and it always works as expected.I would like to see a feature added to it where it would automatically show emails in html from a particular email address, maybe some a kind of white-listing capability for the few email addresses I would manually add to the white-list.This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.6.4). Really helpful extension, thanks for your effort! This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.6.4).
Very handy and useful extension Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Although its way of funcion might be a little hard to understand at first by newbies, once taken the learning curve it reveals as utterly useful and practical. Especially the indicator on the status bar that shows which is your default setting and allows you to change it through right click action. Nothing is missed here. Thank youThis review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.6.3).
Simply excellent! Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Simply excellent -- great way to stop scripts and other malware. Twice incoming emails from trusted users -- which looked suspicious and I did NOT click on any links in them -- twice viewing them messed up my T-bird settings (in LINUX!) Tthis extension makes it so convenient to preview email in plain text, determine if the message is legit, then view in HTML with one somple click. Kudos! If you manage to get "allow HTML" to "stick" to approved messages permanently, so much the better! This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.6.3).
I use it for something else. Rated 3 out of 5 stars
I have been looking for a way to strip HTML tags from quotes when replying and this addon is the closest thing I've found. I can view ALL my mail in plain or simple mode and then hit this button to see normal email when needed. When I press Reply, the quoted message is stripped and I am still able to use my HTML signature because I am composing in HTML mode by default. I wish I could view in HTML mode and reply with stripped plain text quotes, but oh well. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.6.3).
Indicator to tell if Email uses HTML? Rated 5 out of 5 stars
This is really nice. What's missing is some indicator whether an email uses HTML. That indicator could be a small symbol that appears in the header bar or in the status bar (e.g. together with the "Allow HTML" symbol), every time an email has an HTML part. Often it is not possible to tell whether an email uses HTML or not. I believe that's what also "Apedemak" meant in his comment below (from Jan 2010). (BTW, an old email client, "Foxmail", used such an indicator)
Edit May 14th:
Maybe, simply by not displaying this add-on's changing icon in the status bar, whenever a message is in plain text, would be enough to indicate that a message has no html part. I keep finding myself clicking on the html option in the status bar while some messages just don't have html.
status not remembered if e-mail opened in a tab Rated 3 out of 5 stars
Useful add-on. Unfortunately when an e-mail is opened in a new tab, and then switch between tabs, the HTML status isn't remembered, which is quite annoying. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.2.3).
A useful tool that can use better integration Rated 4 out of 5 stars
This is a useful tool that makes it easier to keep HTML off and thereby protect oneself from various forms of spyware. But I'd like to see better integration with TB's junk filtering and untrusted image loading features. If junk detection declares an email as a false positive, you should be able to (1) declare it not junk, (2) download images, and (3) view as HTML in one click. Instead, right now you have to do each thing separately. I realize some won't want to do this, but I'd like this add-on to have the option of doing all three steps at once. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.0.3).

Great! More secure than default behavior! Rated 4 out of 5 stars
This extension is great. Very simple interface. Would be nice if there was something available from context menu or via a configurable shortcut/hotkey, rather than a button you need to add to the toolbar. I don't like using my mouse, which is why I mention this, and only give it 4 stars. Still, this should be default behavior in Thunderbird (it is in Outlook, even), as it is much more secure to always view in plain text, and selectively html from trusted sources. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.0.3).
Old version... Rated 4 out of 5 stars
Please re-include the RIGHT-CLICK menu option...
that was the only method that was FAST and easy to turn on and off,
all the others you've replaced it with are slow and cumbersome.
Lots of people don't use Thunderbirds expanded header buttons...
on large resolution screens, the buttons end up way off to the right side of the screen,
it's a pain to mouse over there and click them, so the expanded header becomes useless.
The RIGHT-CLICK menu was perfect, it was fast...
you never should have removed that one feature.
I hope you bring it back. Thx!

Could you please make this add-on work also in the feed-reading mode so that I can switch between original html and plain text as in the mail-reading mode? This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.0.3).
thank you Rated 5 out of 5 stars
thanks, i have it back again !
yep you usually have to click
and drag it to the desktop
it might not look like above if you are using non default skins on t-bird
and don't forget to set
"as plain text"
