Fantastic addon but badly out dated/buggy and apparently the author does not have time for this. Also begs for a rewrite to take advantage of the built-in tab groups. Using TabGroups Menu as alternative which is faster and reliable. However, no tab group bar. :(This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2011.3.22.01). This user has 4 previous reviews of this add-on.
This addon, after the latest update, appears to break Tab Mix Plus v0.3.8.4 ability to start new tab in with other than blank page. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.1.0).
Best thing right after sliced bread! :)
Been using this for good few years now and pretty much have not typed password(s) manually since. It's good to see this addon still going strong all these years.
I'm glad to see this addon updated. I like the new features etc. but i think this has come at the cost of stability. Weird errors and some locked in tabs etc. Hopefully these will get ironed out eventually.
In any case the new version is heading the right direction. Keep up the good work!
- Ability to choose any (sub)folder to save save-to-read bookmarks.
- Optionally auto tag saved bookmarks with custom tag.
This addon has far better user interface options than Read It Later. Also as it's integrated into the already existing bookmark system, syncing should be pretty straight forward.
Definitely going to use this instead of Read It Later.
I've been running TabGroups Manager with other addons like TMP, Session Manager, BarTab and about 30 other active addons.
In month or two i've been keeping the same set of tabs between sessions and currently running at 1500 tabs, inside 30 or so groups. So far i've seen only couple occasions where the tabs didn't stay inside their group after restoring session. Also with this many groups, it's starting to get bit tedious to manage them and more tabs you get slower the startup time is. Even with 1500 tabs, when using BarTab, it takes omly about 10-15 seconds to sort all tabs into their groups.
Overall this addon plays nice with other addons i've used so far and it is quite stable. Recommend this to any "tab maniacs" out there. :)
I've been using NoScript for a some time now. It's good as it gives me the control over things etc. However, there seems to be blocking going on that i cannot do anything about e.g. no option to "allow it", whatever it is. This is the problem really, not even knowing what is being blocked when everything in NoScript is allowed is painful. Only option on these cases is to allow all globally, which again defeats the purpose of having NoScript in the first place. Perhaps its just not technically possible to do, but its still a pain.
Otherwise this is good addon. :)
After some months of heavy use of this tabgroups, with other 41 active addons, there has been very few problems so far.
Occasionally (very rare), after session is restored, one or two groups there is tabs that are completely unresponsive e.g. clicking them does not do anything etc. Restart usually seems to fix this.
Also i've yet to discover how to control what page is opened when new group is created with the default single tab open. For awhile it was my "fast dial" addons page (weird), now it's blank. I've got TabMixPlus set to load new tabs to homepage but it does not seem to work with this(?).
Overall, this addon plays nicely with other addons, as i already mentioned, i've got "few" other addons installed on my current profile.
I'll give it 4 stars, maybe i'm too picky but theres some room for improvement. In any case, THANKS!
This one speeds up the session restoring when using lot of tabs, its just amazing. Thanks! This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.2.2).
Great addon but for some reason i cannot see my "TooManyTabs" folder in "unsorted bookmarks" when using the "select folder" (include/exclude). Manually created ones are visible. Not sure if its TooManyTabs issue or what...This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.6.4).
For anyone with a older machine (slow) and uses tons of tabs, Brief is certainly welcome addition. Anything that opens as sidebar for me tends to be a sluggish but Brief is light fast always.
As for no documentation. It seems that this addon is as "simple" as it gets. Add feeds to the "Live Bookmars" folder, or wherever you store your feeds at in the bookmars. Go to the options in Brief window, Feeds tab, then select the feeds folder.
Works extremely well. Only wish i could rearrange the groups etc.
As to how well this behaves with other extensions. TabMixPlus sessions didnt work well, but using Session Manager instead works nicely. Also TMP multiple rows does not work but theres a workaround using custom Stylish "style".
Make sure you follow the TabBar option change (Scrollable without buttons) as instructed in the style page.
Power browsers friend. Fast and works. However, no option to place button on the toolbar, not sure why this trend seems to be going on but my "Tools" is already cluttered beyond recognition.
The button is there for those that need it, and well, i do need it. Please consider adding it because it would be awesome. :)
Thank you for this!
This is still the best translator for FF simply because of the ability to translate website by pressing the button once. This is the way it should be; Pick language you want to translate and press a button.
Fantastic addon that still needs some work. The idea is perfect but theres things that just could use some more complex output like being able to filter the list using tags and so on. For instance, if i could use "Tagmarks" addon with this, i could tag the page before i add it to "read it later" so im able to later on filter the list according to what im interested in.This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.9821).
Good addon but the "thumbnail updating" is causing massive CPU usage (100%) when scrolling on some sites like TabMix Plus forums.
It took me quite a bit of effort to find out from all the extensions that i have that this was causing the slow downs/freezing. This was quite a surprise that it keeps updating thumbnails even when not using Showcase, this option should be turned off by default.
1.2.8 on FF3.0.1 breaks the "plugins" section in "Add-ons"...This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.5.0).
