Popup Blocker (Lite)

Falsely Blocks Links Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Popup Blocker Lite has been a real pain to use as it quite frequently blocks links to other sites that you have intentionally clicked on as it persistently classes them as a Popup.

It is extremely annoying to constantly have to Whitelist sites or entire domains virtually everywhere you visit and decide to click a link.

I have thoroughly checked all the configuration settings and ensured that it is set to allow clicked on links, But this did NOT correct this very annoying issue.

In addition this addon did NOT block popups which occur on NSFW adult content sites.

Disconnect

Fails To Remember Settings Rated 1 out of 5 stars

The latest release of Disconnect is a shabby poor quality product.

As a few others have mentioned Disconnect is failing to remember settings and reverts back to default settings when restarting Firefox.

For example I normally set Disconnect to NOT display the Tracker Count next to the Toolbar Button, But every time I restart Firefox that setting has reverted back to default and it also lose other specific website White Listings.

Disconnect is installed in Firefox 52.0.2 and I am using macOS Sierra 10.12.4

Ultrawidify

Excellent Add on Rated 5 out of 5 stars

At long last Firefox users now have a easy way of correcting the aspect ratio of older video filmed in non widescreen aspect ratios.

I have always used YouTube Center, Which is a Greasemonkey user script. But this has been very neglected in its maintenance due to its developer having much greater employment commitments.
Unfortunately the future of YouTube Centre looks grim and I wouldn't be surprised if it was abandoned by the developer soon.

I have previously searched extensively for another addon which can change the aspect ratio of YouTube videos with no success.

I do hope the developer keeps this addon up to date with the changes that YouTube makes to its website on a frequent basis in its ongoing futile attempts to block users downloading video content.

RequestPolicy Continued

Extremely Poor Support Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I installed this add-on to block those very annoying redirection requests you often encounter on NSFW adult content sites.

However when Request Policy Continued warns you repeatedly about a Redirection that you have specifically created a Deny Rule for.

I can find no way to stop this add-on nagging me contstantly about Blocked Redirections.

I been to the add-on's official support site and lodge an issue report and asked for help with this very annoying issue.

So far all request for help have been totally ignored and the add-on developer seems to have no interest in correcting extremely annoying issues in this add-on despite many others also reporting this same issue.

Because of this extremely poor level of support I can only give this add-on the 1 star that it deserves.

ContentBlockHelper

Will Not save Adblocking Rules Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I installed this add-on in Firefox 50.0.2 on macOS Sierra 10.12.1

At first it seemed to perform well as it blocked ads that other ad blockers could not block.

But to my dismay this promising add-on has a serious issue as it will NOT save any Adblocking Rules you create, After going to the trouble of finding the most effective blocking rule and saving any changes made are gone when you restart Firefox.

This also happens when you choose Filter Lists to Subscribe to such as Easy List, When you restart Firefox your choices have vanished.

The developers site is entirely written in a foreign language and so can not be used to report issues by users who only understand english.

This issue needs to be fixed as rapidly as possible.

Flash Video Downloader - YouTube HD Download [4K]

Latest Update Completely Breaks This Add-on Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Like a great many other users of this add-on the most recent update has completely broken this Flash Video Downloader.

No matter where I go or whatever video format I attempt to download the toolbar button for this add-on is greyed out and I'm simply unable to download any video at all.

I have it installed in Firefox 49.0.2 and am using macOS Sierra 10.12.1

It is quite frustrating and annoying that updates frequently break this add-on.

I am sick and tired of this occurring on a frequent basis.

Like many other users of this add-on, I am uninstalling it and searching for a much more stable and reliable video downloader.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (15.0.2).  This user has a previous review of this add-on.

YouTube™ Video AdBlocker

Needs Whitelist Rated 3 out of 5 stars

This has been good at blocking video ads to date.

But this add-on can only be deactivated globally on all sites.

This add-on badly needs a one click whitelisting function to disable this add-on when for any websites where it causes issues with website functionality

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.1).

Social Disconnect Plus

Needs Improving Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Social Disconnect needs to have the ability to White List websites where needed by clicking the add-ons toolbar icon.

The way this is currently done is very inconvenient, You have to go to your Fire Add-ons the select Social Disconnect Plus Options and manually enter a websites address.

It also fails to block social media widgets on many websites.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.1.0).

Wallflower

Blocks Google Notifications Rated 1 out of 5 stars

This add-on blocks the Google Notifications from functioning when you click on the little bell shaped icon a blank box appears.

When Wallflower is disabled or uninstalled Google Notificationa work perfectly.

This add-on fails to block social widgets on many sites

Clean Uninstall

Very Efficient At Thoroughly Uninstalling Add-Ons Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is a truly impressive add-on that automatically removes all traces of any add-on you are uninstalling with 100% accuracy.

This saves you the tedious chore of going through the about:config extension entries and performing manual removal of leftover add-on entries after an uninstall.

The UI provides the proper names for all add-ons which contain a long string of characters.

I have tried other add-ons such as "Preferences Monitor" and "eCleaner"
for removing leftover add-on about:config entries, But they don't give the proper name of an add-on which has those long strings of characters and your left scratching your head and wondering what add-on those entries belong to. They also tend to miss things occasionally.

This "Clean Uninstall" hasn't made a mistake yet and also identifies leftover entries from add-ons not completely removed previously in the past.

This has add-on has well and truly deserved a 5 star rating.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.1.2).

YouTube Downloader Plus

Best YouTube Downloader Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is the best youtube downloader I gave ever used.

Many others work for a short while, But stop functioning when youtube makes changes to the website.

You then have to wait for the add-on developer to update their add-on and then it has to go through the Firefox add-on review process, All of which takes a considerable amount of time.

I personally believe that youtube quite intentionally makes regular changes to their website as they don't want users downloading and saving videos for various reasons.

However this add-on circumvents the tactics used by youtube by sending your request for a download to his 3rd party website which is very rapidly updated in response to any youtube changes.

This add-on developer has successfully found the soloution to this annoying youtube issue which occurs on a regular basis.

Since I installed YouTube downloader Plus there hasn't been one single instance of me not being able to download youtube content in the 6 months I have been using it.

This add-on developer truly deserves a 5 star rating for this add-on.

Please do the right thing and reward the developer with some donations to help fund the costs involved in maintaining his website and providing this unique service.

Smart HTTPS

Needs Easier Whitelisting Of Sites Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Overall this is a very good add on for improving your web privacy and security.

But Smart HTTPS would be much improved if there was an easier way to add websites to its whitelist, I would like to be able to achieve whitelisting of websites by simply right clicking the toolbar icon and selecting add website/domain to whitelist on the infrequent occasion this is necessary.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.1.2).

Download Flash and Video

Best Video Downloader I Have Used Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I have installed a great many Firefox Add-Ons for downloading videos, But in the past the ones I tried have had various irritating issues.

Many can't download from http://www.dailymotion.com/au For some reason lots of video downloaders have issues with that particular website.

Some others try and promote their other unwanted products via their Add-On.

Then there are those which repeatedly ask you to specify your downloads folder location.

Many other video downloaders don't clear the list of available downloads when you have left the website and require you to do that manually.

This video downloader Add-On is the best I have used to date as it works on all the websites I have visited.

This Add-On truly deserves the 5 star rating I have given it.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.78).

Classic Theme Restorer

No Future For Classic Theme Restorer Rated 5 out of 5 stars

To all those using this Add-On to remove the much disliked Firefox Chrome clone style UI.

Be warned that at some unknown future date this Add-On will be unusuable.

This is due to the fact that Mozilla's Firefox developers have announced plans to completely strip out all Firefox Themes at some unknown time in the future.

This is a part of As part of Mozilla's "Go Faster" initiative for Firefox, the company is removing features that aren't used by many and require a lot of technical effort to continually improve.

The first two features to get the axe are tab groups and complete themes which change the whole Firefox UI.

When Firefox switches to the new engine and removes xul which Classic Theme Restorer depends on, This Add-On will be unusable.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.4.3.1-signed).

Download Manager Tweak

Doesn't Automatically Remove Videos From Download List Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This is a very good Add-On as it has many useful tweaks for the Firefox Download Manager.

But the "Automatically remove downloads from list after they complete" function doesn't work. The files remain until manually removed.

I'm using Download Manager Tweak installed in Firefox 42 on Mac OS X 10.11.1 El Capitan.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.9.1-signed).

Flash Video Downloader - YouTube HD Download [4K]

Two Annoying Faults Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Flash Video Downloader is a really good Add-On for downloading Videos of ALL types.

The name is misleading though as it can handle the downloading of many more video formats apart from FLV.

It even easily downloads video from http://www.dailymotion.com/au which many other downloaders have difficulty with.

The only two faults with this Add-On are:

1. When downloading high quality video it
always asks for the location of your
download folder.

2. When the toolbar icon is clicked to
select a video to download the icon
and font sizes are way too small and it
very difficult to read the details of each
downloadable item.
This happens regardless of you using
compact or full mode.

If the developer could pleas fix these issues I will happily upgrade my rating of Flash Video Downloader to 5 stars.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (8.3.2.1-signed).

uBlock Origin

Element Hiding Needs Improvements Rated 4 out of 5 stars

uBlock Origin is a very good Firefox Add-On. It not only blocks ads it can also be used to block Scripts, block Domains, Element Hiding and its Pop Up blocking is excellent.

uBlock Origin has far more features than Adblock Plus while using far less memory.

It is an effective and reliable replacement for multiple other Add-Ons such as "AdBlock Plus" "NoScript","Request Policy" or "Policeman"

However there is one aspect of uBlock Origin that needs improving is the Element Hider.

If the element you choose to hide is present in multiple places on the same web page the Element Hider will only conceal it in the original place that an Element Hiding rule was created for.

It really needs more flexible and broader Element Hiding capability such as hide this element on all similar pages on this domain and the ability to hide similar Elements or Parent Items.

At this point I have to use another Add-On called "Remove It Permanently" with uBlock Origin to achieve satisfactory Element Hiding.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.1.1).  This user has 2 previous reviews of this add-on.

uBlock Origin

Better Than Adblock Plus, Needs Some Improvments Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I really like this addon it can do so much more than Adblock Plus and has a much, much lower memory/CPU usage. Firefox is speedier and more responsive on the vast majority of websites when using uBlock Origin.

However there is room for improvement,
for example if a 3rd-party filter is blocking something on a web page, then it is possible to open the uBlock Origin Network Request Log and identify the likely culprits via their colour coding.

When you click a suspected entry a pop up menu will identify which filter in a 3rd-party list it is.

It would be really convenient to be able to disable that troublesome filter or create an exception rule from that pop up menu.

The second area which needs improvement is the My Filters List,

You cant type in a search term and click find this item or similar items in the listings of your My Filters List which can grow rather lengthy over time.

If the developer could please include these improvements in a future version as soon as possible, uBlock Origin would be much easier to use.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.0.0).  This user has other reviews of this add-on.

uBlock Origin

uBlock Origin: Really Good At Blocking Ads & Pop Ups/Redirects Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Hi yugpurush,

I don't know if you have read the uBlock Origin Wiki:
https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki

You should be aware that to block Pop Ups/Redirects occurring on any website, Just click the uBlock Origin icon on your toolbar and look carefully at the Menu and in the bottom you will see 3 small icons. One of which looks like 2 overlapping sheets of paper.

Just click on it to blockPop Ups/Redirects which happen on that website, You will need to do that for every website where this happens.

I personally use this all the time and have found that uBlock Origin blocks far more Pop Ups/Redirects than Adblock Plus with its Pop Up Add on installed, Even when you create ad blocking rules Adblock Plus still often fails to block them. Particular those initiated by Flash and other Plug Ins.

Ublock Origin is far better at blocking them and it has many other features that Adblock Plus lacks. It's also much lighter on Memory/CPU usage.

Web pages load faster and Firefox is a lot faster and more responsive when using uBlock Origin.

Video Downloader professional

Can't Set Default Downloads Location Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This is one of the best video downloaders I have ever used, It finds and downloads the videos on almost every site that I have used it on.

The only gripe I have is that every single time you wish to download a video it asks where you want to save it to.

It really does get annoying having to set your download location every single time.

It would be great if you could simply set your preferred download location in the preferences and NOT be asked again as to where you want your videos downloaded to.

If this option was include in a future update, this would be just about perfect.

I'm using Firefox 36.0.1 on Mac Os X 10.10.2

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.97.36.1-signed.1-signed).
