Video DownloadHelper

Tries to force an upsell Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Windows users are essentially required to buy a $1/month subscription to get audio on many videos. Lame.

OK, the developer denied it, so I reinstalled, clicked on a video, and was promptly asked to install new software. There are actual legal reasons why it might not be already bundled into the addon, so I clicked on the LARGE INSTALL BUTTON, and was promptly shown to a page that wanted to charge me a monthly fee to run a piece of software... that STILL DIDN'T CONVERT VIDEOS.

It's highly deceptive adware. "Recommended by Video DownloadHelper"... "Get the FULL version of Vidine right now for just $1 for the first 14 days! + $97 after 14 day trial."

An obvious ripoff. MAYBE even malware, given the ridiculous price. Hosted on

AT BEST, it's a complete ripoff. It may be malware, given the deceptive ad placement and price.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (6.0.0).

Video Downloader professional

Clear, simple, free, works! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Does all I need - downloads videos in my choice of available resolutions. Doesn't do shit I don't need in a downloader, like converting AAC/FLAC to WMV/ROT13, so it has no bullshit buttons in my way.

IE Tab + (FF 8+, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3.6, 3.5, SeaMonkey)

Outdated, use "IE Tab 2" instead Rated 1 out of 5 stars

This addon has not been updated in well over a year (as of this date). IE Tab 2 has been updated this past week.

Clearly, this addon is abandoned and no longer being updated for compatibility with newer IE-only sites.

Blocks access to Google Rated 1 out of 5 stars

It blocks my access to Google pages, from Gmail to Google searches.

Picsearch Highlight

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Uses the picsearch website to search for images, which is far inferior to Google image search. If you're looking for a G or PG-13 picture of a common search term, it will work.
