My Reviews

Bamboo Feed Reader

won't install Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Just that. I see the "will be when thunderbird is restarted" button but hitting it restores thunderbird to the bamboo-less state, that it was in before.

Html Validator

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Poor HTMLValidator, poor Marc.

Firefox has problems but all we notice is that an extension is not prepared to cope with the bad attitude of the Firefox-developers.

I love this extension and will rather stop using Firefox than do without HTMLValidator!

Having overcome the worst trouble with the 10.x releases of the browser, I am glad to say, that the extension works fine under Linux 64Bits.

Enigmail

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I write the same ol' review about Enigmail as the last four times.

Works great with any thunderbird-version that I have ever used, 10.0.2 included, and 64bits included and what not.

Dear users, try to install the right version and do not ask for simple deliverance. We all must learn and keep our eyes open to survive. I had made the same mistake once, but at least came back to apologize.

ENIGMAIL WORKS AS IT ALWAYS DID.

Seeks.fr OpenSearch plug-in

successfully uses the seeks engine Rated 5 out of 5 stars

What else can you say. The extension cannot do more, than call the seeks search engine and hit the search button for you. It does this pretty well and as there are no other promises made, it works 100% like expected. That is probably a quality that some miss with other software. Found this, my coffee is good, there is still some fuel to spill... a great day.

Unblackout Wikipedia

Stop ACTA ! Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I hope this is a joke.
Make an extension to support the protest, if you can.

Enigmail

TBird 3.1.7, 64bits. Rated 5 out of 5 stars

The version 1.1.2, built on Debian 64bits (gcc4.x) works flawlessly on Ubuntu 10.x, 64bits with TBird 3.1.7

Molybdenum

for static web-sites or small applications Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I would rather not give a rating and therefore give 5 stars anyway... Having used Molybdenum extensively I can confirm that the tool does a great job in testing a web-site.

Unfortunately, my own tests had to run against full-blown multi-tier web-applications, each of a size that you would probably call "considerable". Not did a lack of features unnerve me, but the fact, that with the growing size of the test-scenario-files, bricks and data-sets, Molybdenum slowly became *unusable*. First, you have to edit the XML in an external editor, than the timeouts become more frequent and in the end, your results and work-speed become anything.., aleatory.I am not free to choose my tools and consider our returning to Selenium a progress, while I would love to dive into Watir, instead.

Enigmail

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I love Enigmail but chose to update Thunderbird. By *my own choice*, I cannot use Enigmail with a more current version of the MUA and *will either have to wait for a newer version of Enigmail* or *downgrade thunderbird* again.

Also, by choosing a car with only two seats, I am now unable to carry four other people around. Who is responsible?

StayInOnlineMode

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I do not understand why I need this add-on. But, of course, I do. It is a strange thing, when you first need to complete a piece of offered software, before it becomes usable in the first place. Nobody forces me to use Firefox, you might say. But, alas, they do.This works. And with the help of this add-on, Firefox works, too.

But all in all... I am annoyed. You understand. Thanks.

StayInOnlineMode

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I do not really understand why I need this add-on, but, -of course-, I do. It is a strange thing, when you have to complete a piece of offered software yourself, before it does the job... Well, nobody forces me to use Firefox, you might say. But, alas, they do.

Thanks. This works.

Enigmail

Might be too easy Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Coming from an other era, all this ease of use makes me nervous, sometimes. We had to think a lot previously, when mail was to be encrypted. You do not think anymore with Enigmail. This probably means, that the tool works 100% as intended and my 8, by consequence, may be considered a slightly esotheric rating. Whatever.

Habu

works as promised Rated 5 out of 5 stars

No trouble here. All spam is deleted after reporting. By use of Habu, I learned, that an account at the addressed spam-fighting services isn't even needed to send my spam there.

QuickJava

Completes my set of tools Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Together with Ron Beckman's JSView and Marc Gueury's awesome HTML Validator, QuickJava completes my set of tools for web-site validation.
Previously, I would not care much for how my pages are presented, when users chose to switch off JavaScript. Using QuickJava is straightforward and lets me quickly run alternative layouts, where JavaScript-dependent contents will no longer become offending. This should be integrated into any browser, anyway.

JSView

Using it a lot Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Although there is not much to configure with this tool, this is where I like it most. Having found my favorit settings, it became habit-building.

Html Validator

Enjoy is the word. Rated 5 out of 5 stars

What do you want to compare this extension to? Never before had it been so much fun, to bat ones fingers with a heavy tool.
Addition 2007-04-23: No speed problems here.
