My Reviews

RefControl

Love it! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is really a wonderful addon which lets me keep some more privacy about where I have been surfing around and it lets me create a white list about where I run into troubles.

Just one little thing I am missing, I try to get get rid of the addon bar and have put all my addons in the nav bar the top right corner but somehow I can't move the icon of RefControl, would be nice, if this could be added.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.8.15).

Favicon Picker 2

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Declaring it FF 4 compatible seems to me a little rushed, I use FF 4 Beta 11 and it brakes many things like tabs and the bookmarks bar.
The good thing is that it somehow still does what I needed it for, I could change some bookmarks icons and deactivate the addon after that, but I hope it can be optimized more to work under FF 4 whithout breaking things when FF 4 is final.

Hide BookmarksBar

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Great addon, but the functions to let the bookmarks bar appear "when you hover over the bookmark filed or a toolbar" doesn't work for. Probably because I am on FF4 Beta 10?
If so, please update, I think that would be for me the best function :-)

Toolbar Thinger

No chance to use under FF 4.0 anymore? :-( Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I am also TOTALLY in love with this addon but it seems not to work anymore under FF 4, so far I could make it work all these years under FF 3.0, 3.5 and these days 3.6 but under FF 4 all these tricks are not working anymore right now.
Really too bad that the developer lost interest in this great addon and no one else developed something similar so far:-(
If anyone finds a way to make this work under FF 4 please share how to do it or I have to stay on FF 3.6 forever...

IE Tab Plus (FF 5+, 4+, 3.6+)

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I don't get the last comment, Firefox does support HTML 5, but uses OGG as the video codec whille Youtube uses H.264.
H.264 is supported by Safari or Google Chrome, so you need those for Youtube without Flash, IE doesn't support AT ALL, so IE Tab doesn't help here.

IE Tab Plus (FF 5+, 4+, 3.6+)

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Wonderful update, with Coral now having this classic mode it became finally as user friendly as IE Tab used to be.
Now the original IE Tab extension can rest in peace ;-)

IE Tab

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Great addon and one of the ones I really don't want to miss so 5 stars for all the years I already use it :-)

It keeps crashing my FF 3.6 Beta 4 when trying to switch the rendering engine so I guess we need to wait for an update for FF 3.6.
Please release an update soon when the final version comes or better when the release candidates start, this is one of the most important extensions for me :-)

I know that Coral IE Tab works with 3.6 but I don't like that so much because it has no localization in my native language and the same behavior as IE Tab you only get with the "safe switch" which is never easy to do with just one click there.

Perspectives

Great extension if you use it correctly. I don't like the idea about bypassing any security warnings but this can be turned off. What I like is the function to have all certificates compared from other locations what seems like a good way to protect yourself from "Man in the middle attacks".

Toolbar Thinger

One of the top 5 extensions for me! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

After AdBlock, NoScript and CookieCuller one of the most important extensions for me, really great when you can search on many websites directly :)

For FF3 people who feel they know what they are doing: You can download the extension as a file to you computer and change the ending XPI to ZIP. Unpack it and open the file install.rdf with an editor.
There look for the line that says 2.0 and change the 2 into a 3. Create a new ZIP file, change the ending ZIP into XPI again and it should install into FF3.

It works fine for me and I got my six search fields back, but I strongly recommend everyone to make a backup of your FF profile folder before trying it out.
