This is one of my two most essential Firefox add-ons (the other one being NoScript). It helps a lot keeping track of trackers. Recommended.

Gotta love Ghostery!

It's one of the first Add-ons I install in firefox and it works transparently in the background, yet showing the info related to what is/isn't blocked when you're looking for it.

I love Ghostery. I was surprised, and frightened by the sheer volume of trackers being used on some sites out there. It's true that most of them are just ad networks, but the simple fact that so many trackers exist should give pause for even basic web users to consider using Ghostery -- just to see the enormous footprint you make as you travel around the web.

I only block a handful of the trackers, but I like the way Ghostery lets you pause the blocking and add specific trackers or websites.

Thanks to the ghostery devs... i can distinguish the sites just running ads, and the sites who seem to follow my every key and click.

Very Good Plugin But Too Complex Rated 3 out of 5 stars

A very good addon but has some problems. I like the that if I go to some websites I get upto 70 trackers and none of them load as long as the Ghostery is working.

Recently the interface has become too detailed and bloated. There are too many options. The only really useful improvements have been the option to allow social site buttons and the ability to pause blocking.

The rest is bloat.

Still a good addon.

Fantastic functionality. Never have I been less observed on the internet! It is great that Ghostery takes a pro-active approach to thwarting the scum of the internet who make a living off spying on you.

So far as I can tell the coverage of Ghostery's blocklist is quite good and regularly updated.

The only downside to Ghostery is its impact on Firefox performance; as about:memory indicates, Ghostery normally uses twice the memory that Adblock Plus does even though ABP has a much larger database. Normally at least 10% of Firefox's total memory is used by Ghostery, which is a very substantial amount (100MB+ when Firefox is using 1GB). Unlike ABP, Ghostery's memory usage grows with the number of tabs open/time Firefox has been open. It is possible some of this memory is offset by having fewer trackers embedded into the page, but clearly memory usage is an area that could use some development effort.

Good Application Add-On Rated 5 out of 5 stars

After installing this add-on to Firefox, I immediately noticed no more unwanted ads surrounding my screen. Execution sped up and I no longer had freeze-ups in certain websites. I have yet to follow-up on company links Ghostery presents for my opt-out option, or opt-in to Ghostrank. I do like that I am able to enter some websites and not have to pay $$$ to have their webmaster block the ad sponsors. I did notice some functions are halted by Ghostery so when I am out of certain websites that I prefer anonymity, I’ll disable Ghostery. This application is especially helpful while temporarily using this laptop for both business and personal functions. Overall, this programs works as described and is worth my installing it.

Seems to work well. I had no idea there were that many web-bug companies out there. Ghostery is flagging them to me and seems to be blocking effectively
