I've been using this addon for years; its excellent. However, i've now noticed that when i click on the downloads icon in the sidebar icon bar it doesnt actually open to show me the download details etc, instead i now see a popup with the download details. Not sure if this is a bug or some setting that can be modified but I would love the download icon to behave like the other icons.
Good UI, Works fine...
I haven't used this theme alot but it works well for the times I have; it's smooth on the eyes and it goes down well with my myriad of addons. I have noticed in the last release that the active tab didn't have the tab label in bold and I don't like that. In fact I'm surprised this is not a default feature as in so many other themes!
Version 1.23 must have been working too well before the author decided it needed further ridiculous tweaks. I don't see a positive direction for this addon. With the latest version my search don't load! With the penultimate version a stupid ad banner displays and no search results. I'm baffled, quite frankly! Until I see a proper fix for this addon, I'll either uninstall it or stick to the old version that works! Also ver 1.31 is displaying double thumbnails for each search result. Everything is going wrong with this addon - A classic case of Murphy's Law.This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.31).
This theme for me is a work in progress. The interface looks clean and slick and it has shown compatibility with the myriad of addons I use. Of note I don't think it goes well with Colourful tabs, which for me is a basic must-have. I also noticed that the icons on the google toolbar are not nicely spaced as in other themes like the default one for example. That is a definite turnoff. The biggest one maybe is the fact that there is no drop down menu on the back/forward buttons. I cannot use a theme without that. Sorry. I would recommend this theme, but its not for me. Not yet, anyway...This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.1b3pre.20090206).
The functionality of this addon is worth 5+ stars, BUT...We have been promised an update to match FF3 requirements for...(wow!) a mighty long time now. Is this addon dead on FF3? It would b a real shame cuz the idea is good and for my time with FF2 it worked without any major glitches. It definitely up the stakes of the intuitive address bar.
The next update can't come soon enough. Incidentally it was exactly one year to the day that this addon was updated. Amazing!!...
I share the same sentiments as many of my predecessor reviewees. I cannot stop the extension from appearing above the status bar even though it is already integrated into the statusbar! It's annoying!
I'll simply uninstall and wait for the next release.
Continue the good work developers, but this version is like a retrograde step.
Definitely anticipating the next release.
Thorough UI, but there is still one unsolved mystery. When are we gonna be able to use the extension to compose a playlist in lieu of having to go back to the music player to do so?
This functionality would easily ace this addon and make it an absolute must-have.
This has been an excellent theme for me, starting with the FF2 version which I've enjoyed working with.
The FF3 version has worked seamlessly so far. I haven't noticed any issues, but it's still early days yet.
My only bone of contention so far is that I'm unimpressed with the colouring on the back/forward button. It is just not distinct enough. It needs to stand out more. I use Dell/Vista just in case.
For the next update, I would love to see the colour more defined when the button is active...a brighter green maybe.
Excellent work though. The developers are encouraged to continue this wonderful work.
And what about other colours? Can we move away more from the hackneyed blue? PLZ....
This addon has a thorough user interface. It integrates seamlessly with Firefox and with a myriad of other addons. It has not failed to deliver on its intended purpose. Even the dev build works excellently in FF 3.0!
My only bone of contention, a significant one, is that it has not kept pace with the rate of development of Firefox. Since mid 2007 this addon has not been updated. Amazing! For me, it's very difficult to use FF3 without this addon. As such I've decided to hold back before I update to FF3.01 because TMP is incompatible!
I plead therefore to the developers to provide us TMP loyalists with an update compatible with the latest FF.
P.S. Continue your great works with this addon!
This theme is ridiculously pitch dark!
Has anyone seen the dark theme in MS Office Word 2007? Now, that is an excellent and cool dark theme. I'm suggesting that the developer tone down on the pitch darkness in this theme. It would make it much easier on the eyes and make the translator button and other buttons on the google toolbar more visible, I think.
The bookmarking icon in FF3 URL bar needs to be more discernible; the active back or fwd button could do with some colour, green maybe.
Since this is a dark theme, it makes sense to only show the close button on the active tab! Also, why not have a strip of colour around the active tab to highlight it better. And why has the developer deviated so much from the way in the active tab is highlighted in the default FF theme? Sometimes I don't recognize quickly enough which tab is active.
Clearly, colourful tabs is not the best addon to use with this theme. So disable it. The tab bar is a sore area for this theme. And why is that little dead space between each tab? And why isn't the bookmarks toolbar not more compact, and the search field made smaller, as in the default FF3 theme?
Overall, it's a good theme, but it needs to be refined to make it easier on the eyes and slicker.
P.S. I'm using FF3 on Vista.
I really had to register simply to tender this review. I have been using FF for about a year now and I have zilch to regret. So now that FF3 is a reality, I just had to be apart of it. But, I am not entirely impressed with the default theme. But this crystal fox theme is excellent. I still can't understand why the default theme in FF3 doesn't have the same sleek look. Moreover, this theme integrates very well with my FF3 and all the addons I use. I regret having to give up all the incompatible ones like tab mix plus, clear fields, autocomplete manager etc. But this is an excellent theme, definitely one of the best themes that are easy on the eyes and professional. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.0).
