Web of Trust, MyWOT/WOT: Website Reputation Rating

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

WOT ratings aren't displaying correctly on Pinterest since they redesigned the site. It is shifting the site's design around, which looks weird. Please look into how to fix this.

Otherwise extension is perfect as it has been for years. :)

Pocket

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

I don't know if it's because of the Firefox 29 update, but the button in the address bar will not add websites. Rather, after I add one page it gets stuck on the "mark as read"/pink condition. Because the separate button in the toolbar does not have a button to add sites, I have to add them by hand via the website. This means that the extension is pretty much useless. This needs a major update.

I would follow the suggestion of the person below me and just have a separate toolbar button, removing the one in the address bar.

Edit: The suggest exists. It's from Pocket itself: https://getpocket.com/add?sb=1 (The Pocket Button) Because it does, it renders this extension particularly useless.

Disconnect

Please issue an update to fix the display of the icon in Firefox 29. The arrow is covering the number so I can't see how many items are being blocked. Other than this, it's been great.

LeechBlock

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This extension is great and I love it. However, it isn't working with the newest version of Firefox (29), just so you know. Can't wait for the update.

EDIT: I was just logging in to edit and add some detail tot his review when I saw your reply. I'm on Windows 7. It finally blocked me from a site, so I know the LB is working in the background, but if I drag the timer out it doesn't display any time countdown even though it's white like it should be. So, I guess the issue is with the timer we can reposition, but the fundamentals of the extension itself still seem to work. I had to use it longer in 29 before I could pinpoint what was up.

EDIT 2: It seems to work on-and-off. Very strange.

InstantFox Quick Search

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I like it. It's reliable and does what it's supposed to with a good amount of options. I wish there was an option to disable "links from current page" and "siblings of highlighted part," but those are small bits of clutter to me. I really like the extension.

Idderall

Key Issues -- Disappointing Rated 1 out of 5 stars

If you are just wanting to try this out, I would suggest you read this before making a decision.

This is a "horrible" extension. I understand why you (the developer) don't want people to easily change their settings while a block is enabled. However, that nearly renders the extension useless. I had set a high cheat time, then went to check the site I'd blocked. There was no indication that Idderall was working; meaning, there was nothing saying, "Are you sure you want to visit this site? You have blocked it with Idderall." So, I wanted to go in and block the site completely (disable cheat time) to make sure Idderall would block the site at all (this concern arose due to other reviews that claim Idderall does not actually block sites). I found that I was unable to change the block times, disable cheat time, or really make any changes at all. All this was irritating and made me want to uninstall it.

To summarize, I didn't like that there is no notification that the extension is working, no confirmation that you want to use cheat time, no timer stating how much cheat time is left, and a complete inability to modify settings for fine-tuning/testing purposes. So, there's at least four things you can work on.

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE! I then went to uninstall it and found that I could not! Are you kidding me?! Again, I understand why you did this. However, it is so highly detrimental to the reputation of this extension. It comes across as spam extension behavior. I am NOT saying your extension is spam, but I am saying it comes across that way. It leaves a really bad impression. I would suggest adding a checkbox to disable uninstall for X amount of days, but not having it enabled by default. Do you really want to make it that hard for first-time users and people "just trying it out" to remove? What if your extension breaks a site or otherwise malfunctions? It should be a decision in the hands of users who KNOW they like the extension and longtime users, not people who saw it featured and thought it sounded cool. This is something else you can work on.

Until these things are fixed, I am not using this extension. It's saddening because I hoped that it would work, but the inability to easily uninstall for first-time users is just too infuriating for me. It goes against my beliefs, if you will. I hope you can iron our some of these wrinkles, because I bet it would be good.

EDIT: The developer has asked me to remove my addendum about how to uninstall the extension alleging correctly that it violates the EULA. I'm sure you can figure it out for yourself, if you would like to do that. This is, of course, assuming that you are on the internet, are intelligent enough to figure out how to use extensions, and, therefore, are capable of executing web searches in a space where the perceived far-reaching control of the developer is non-existent (also known as "reality"). Furthermore, let me add that I have only decided to take on this tone since the developer has decided to attack my character saying that, "If you don't have the patience to learn to use idderall [sic], you won't have the patience it takes to be distraction free." I personally do not consider this professional behavior. I kept all my comments in this review related the developer's work and not to their personality. If anything, the last paragraph could be taken as a form of compliment. However, it is obvious that this individual: 1) does not have the same respect for me that I had for them (despite my criticisms of this extension), and 2) has fundamentally mishandled and, thus, misunderstood my point entirely.

By the way, LeechBlock is doing a fantastic job of keeping me off Facebook despite the allegations that I "don't have the patience to learn," so you should look into that -- you Firefox user whom I don't know who understands my original point. It even lets me uninstall it if I so desire and there is no EULA. Furthermore, it has a 5 star rating average from a population of 395 users versus the 4 star average from a population of 22, which is what you see here. I just felt like sharing some stone-cold statistics and, in reality, that's all I need to share.

Self-Destructing Cookies

It's great. I only wish there was some way to move the notification box to a different corner.

TabCounter

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Very good. Doesn't look bad. Does what I need it to do. I like the feature that tells you when you have broken your personal tab record.

EDIT: This extension does not work at all with Firefox 29. It doesn't even show up anywhere even though it's enabled. Can't wait for an update.

Disconnect

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I thought that Disconnect was broken because it stopped working, but it turns out that it was the Avast Online Security extension that was causing it to malfunction. Currently I am switching back to Disconnect because I remember it blocking more than Avast does. I thought I was post this here for people that are having the same problem.
