Like the personalised menu option and the icons for accessing the history and bookmarks however does not seem to hide menu bar (perhaps a compatibility issue) so will give a 3.This review is for a previous version of the add-on (4.1.4).
This is one the greatest Add-ons for Firefox! I have been using it for almost a year now and don't have a bad word to say about it. Fair enough you start viewing the web as raw content instead of fishing through an array of adverts to find what you are looking for, but where's the problem in that?
I actually forgot I had this plugin installed along with it's companion AdBlock Plus until I used someone elses computer and just realised how many adverts people are presented with now. Install ASAP!
The biggest benefit I have worked out is you can block the large feature panel on the top right side of the bbc home page by entering;
as a rule into the element hiding preferences. RESULT!
Simple add-on which does exactly what is says on the tin. Would be nice to have default to print preview.
When in print preview mode the exit application cross (in windows) closes Firefox not the print preview which is disappointing.
I really missed ALT tags when decided whether to Firefox or IE but since installing this I’ve not had much need for IE again.
Disappointing how the ALT tag only displays once so if you missed what was shown you have to loose focus from the page or browser window then return before it will show again, very annoying when using websites which use text less icons for navigation.
8 Out of 10 as Great tool, just needs a little more work on timeout, longer text support and no limit how many times you see the tag.
Good tool, which is very similar to the IEPro for Internet Explorer 7.
You right click on the page and select 'Save Page As Image...' you are presented with a dialog box where u can crop to the area where you'd like to save but unfortunately you are limited to the viewable area not the entire image.
Ideal if you would like to save the whole page as an image though.
Would be better if there was a quick save icon available for the toolbar or status bar where you can predefine a directory to save to. There are currently too many processes before a save.
5 out of 10 due to non-working features and need for menu navigation.
This plug-in is ideal when trying to manage multiple tabs.
Very similar to Microsoft's Internet Explorer but with more control.
The plug-in opens the thumbnail image of each page in either another tab or a popup window which is frustrating but if you install the All-in-One Sidebar by Ingo Wennemaring if can work within that therefore you can manage all pages at the side of your browser.
A useful part of this plug-in is that you can refresh and navigate back and forth through the pages when in thumbnail view.
I have given 6 out of 10 due to the popup and new tab views. Only worth the install if you install the All In One Sidebar.
Brilliant tool, better on a 16x9 widescreen monitor than a traditional 4x3 as takes a portion of the side obviously. Easy to customise short cuts and removes the entire need for the main menu.
This plug-in is great when working with;
Hide Menubar by yuoo2k available at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4762.
I have given 8 out of 10 due to some confusion initially over the settings, the bar vanished a few times until set correctly.
This is a very simple plug-in which simply uploads a text file to your own FTP server. If adds a upload button to the advanced filter settings dialog and also uploads every time you close Firefox, (optional setting).
This is ideal if you are using more than one computer or simply want to share between friends.
I gave this plug-in 7 out of 10 due to the lack of integration with the main app, a submenu option to upload and manage settings on the Adblock Toolbar Menu and remember the FTP password would make it a 10 in my books.
Absolutely Fantastic! I have several well respected plug-ins installed to increase my browsing experience but Adblock Plus exceeds its expectations by far. This is simply a plug-in for everyone to have.
The filters included with the plug-in a sufficient enough to browse without the bother of crude or flashing advertisements every time you visit a site.
You can easily add and remove filters from sites with a click of a button or two. This not only stops irritating advertisements but it also reduces the bandwidth used for each website to load due to the reduced content.
I'd also recommend adding Adblock Plus: Element Hiding Helper also built by Wladimir Palant to help block DIV and Paragraph content that you also dislike.
I'd give this plug-in a rating of 11 if I could!
