I love this addon. It saves me tons of time changing the text on pages so that I can see the text. One problem that I've been having (I'm using FireFox 22.0) is when I perform a Google search, the search closes up so that the results are not visible. The only way to make the search results visible is to disable the addon and reload the search page again. Don't know what's causing this; but, it would be nice to be able to exclude certain pages from Blackening. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (18.104.22.168-signed).
I've been looking for a replacement ever since it was announced that Google Reader would be discontinued. I tried several and they just did not do what I needed. I've been using Feedly for about a week now. Once you do the initial configuration, it's easy to use. It's actually much better than Google Reader. There's a forum where you can find answers to most of your questions. I'm waiting to see how the switch-over goes in the summer. Right now, I'd say that this is the best replacement available. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (10.2.1-signed).
This addon has not worked since version 14 something. It should removed from Mozilla Firefox available addons. I don't believe the developer has any plans to upgrade since the Firefox programmers "introduced several changes in the security model that breaks the capability of the extensions in several key areas" to quote the developer. This rapid release cycle is killing all the addons. No one wants to work an unbelievable number of hours to keep free software working. There's no screen reader available for Firefox anywhere any longer. Chen hasn't touched his version in over 4 years. The Italian developer, Battaglia, has been having server problems since the summer.I appreciate all your hard work, but, those of us who have difficulty seeing are left hanging. I don't know why Firefox can't integrate a screen reader. Other browsers do.
I was "upgraded" yesterday to the new version of Google Reader. Horrid, horrid. Anyway, I read Google Reader by using a combination of Better Greader, FireVox (the Italian version), and the text zoomed to 140%.
Everything's been flowing ... until yesterday. I have my feeds organized into folders. The folders cannot be opened by clicking or double-clicking or left- or right-clicking since the upgrade. All I see is a red vertical line to the left of each folder. I've found that I had to disable Better Greader, expand ALL the folders and then enable Better Greader again.
Your product makes Google Reader usable and tolerable for me. Without your product, I absolutely could not use Google Reader any longer.
It would be great if I could open/close folders, though.
I use Firefox 7.0.1 on to of Windows XP.
Figures you'd be the one getting this puppy up and running again!! Really appreciate the effort that you put forth for all us complainers
I don't appreciate having my computer spammed with permanent links to www.reddit.com and the NY Times. I won't be using your addon.
