The ease of being able to turn off this 'feature' is not relevant. It is the mindset of the developer:
"[W]e decided to work out agreements with websites and banner networks that want to participate"
"There is significant interest from websites and banner networks"
"[I]t is likely that this service will not stay free for the companies wanting to be added"
1) Create an add-on to block ads
2) Gather a massive following
3) Hold advertisers to ransom to allow them selectively
Congrats. If all fails, you too can hold the advertisers to ransom to sneak their adds in once you gained enough traction with the users
"it isn't technically possible to recognize "acceptable" ads automatically. We have agreements with some websites"
Yeah, right, ones that pay you. Way to go, an ad-block add-on to allow ads.
A proxy selector that is unable to select "No proxy". Thumbs downThis review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.76.1-signed).
Perfect example of how to copy something nice, then go ahead mess it all up completely. If tt aint broken, dont fix it!!!
Edited cookies now disppear and why the change to the perfectly adequate UI? And WHY take over the native cookie manager! You think you can build a better one? Obviously you cannot, it is all messed up! Bring back Add N Edit Cookies!!!
I removed this after a day's use. When one uses a search engine s/he may be revealing a few embarrassing tidbits, but this thing makes searches for any number of potentially damning phrases and then goes on to click one of the results returned!
Go ahead and install this if you want your search history to be littered with the searches that can be attributed to anyone from a paedophile to a terrorist, followed by a random click on a result returned for a query like Playing+With+Young+Boys!
I would rather to be tracked by Google or Yahoo than having a search history and web site visits created by TMN!
