My Reviews

Freenode IRC Client

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Simple and useful for occasional Freenode users. Like others have said, I would like an indicator of new activity or new mentions. I would also like it if you could make the right click context menu work to allow for using existing tools I have in my context menu with chat text I highlight such as search, translate, copy, open selected link etc.

I also move the add-on icon from the Add-on bar to the Toolbar as I don't use the Add-on bar and it is more useful to me on the main Toolbar.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.2.rev14.1.1-signed).

Mixcloud

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Whilst this may be a useful application. This web app is just a wrapper for their website with no native mobile Firefox OS design.

TV

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Potentially very good. The navigation is simple to use. However videos open as pop out windows, not useful in a mobile OS.

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Beautifully designed, simple to use. Does exactly what it says on the tin. It could do with more currencies and even Bitcoin support.

Soundiiz

Feedly - Beyond Google Reader

Better Than Google Reader Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This is a fairly impressive application, although I would say there is more happening on the server than in the Firefox Add-on itself. They are listening you user feedback and have made improvements after picking up many of Google Reader's stranded. They are a few features I like such as being able to view a feed or folder of feeds in a particular viewing style whilst viewing all my other feeds in another style. This is great for heavily text or heavily photo based feeds. I think they will continue to improve and innovate the product, unlike what became the stagnant Google Reader. I just hope they don't mess it up with distracting adds or to much social. Keep it simple and distraction free, I just want to read.

Add-on Tools in App Button

Simple and effective Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This exactly what I need. It greats an Apps menu in the Firefox Button and pulls in all the menu entries from extensions in the Menu Bar > Tools menu. The description of it is a bit confusing but it works. It is however marked as 'Not available for Firefox 11.0'. I had to do a forced install but it seems to be working okay. Note to developer, can you please make this available for Firefox 11.0+

Mozilla Labs: Prospector - LessChrome HD

Slow Response Rated 3 out of 5 stars

In theory this seems like a good idea, especially for small screen like netbooks. However I found the response of the unhiding of the navbar to feel to slow, it wasn't snappy enough for my liking. I am used to regularly clicking to the Search Box and to exentsion buttons I have on the Nav Bar and I don't like to wait even a second for them to appear. So good idea, but I guess it just doesn't suit me.

OpenID Login

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Finally an OpenID login extension for Firefox, I've been waiting for ages for someone to develop this. Seems such an obvious must have extension for me.

The implementation is done very well and it works with most OpenID enabled websites I use. There are some however it does not work with, the biggest being any site using the Janrain Engage login system. The extension cannot find the OpenID field in the login panel.

There is a lack on information on this extension page as to where one should go for support, bugs, feedback. The developer has not listed a personal website or means of contact other than his place of work and it doesn't seem appropriate to contact him at his place of work about support and bug reports for this extension. As it is GLPL Licensed maybe hosting it along with a bug tracker on one of the online forges would be sufficient
