The real problems are Bieber, dislike bar and hate words. Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This add-on is great but with some extra functionality, it could be absolutely brilliant.

Firstly, MildTinyRock's suggestion is excellent. A filter against racist, homophobic and sexist words would be excellent.

Secondly, a 'Bieber' filter is urgently needed. Virtually every video on YouTube is plagued with annoying irrelevant comments about Justin Bieber.

Thirdly, same again for a 'dislike' filter. The ability to blank out all comments containing the word 'dislike' would be a contribution to world health and happiness.

In summary, a customisable version of this add-on which allowed the user to define the list of words which they never wish to see in YouTube comments would be amazing. I think an anti-Bieber filter alone would earn you world fame and a lot of grateful $5 donations. Please give it some thought.

FireLink - Copy link with keyboard shortcuts

Avoid if you value your context menu Rated 2 out of 5 stars

I'm surprised Mozilla approved this extension. It adds dozens of lines to your context menu. If you move them with an editor, your menu breaks very badly.

FireLink - Copy link with keyboard shortcuts

Avoid if you value your context menu Rated 2 out of 5 stars

I'm surprised that Mozilla approved this extension. The idea is good but the implementation is poor. If you use a context menu editor after installing Firelink, you'll find that it has added dozens of lines to your context menu. Try to move them, and your context menu will break very badly. Two stars instead of one because I was so relieved to find that it is possible to uninstall this thing without permanent damage.

Aardvark

Aardvark Bookmarklet works in Firefox 5 Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is a brilliant extension, offering functionality which I for one would hate to be without for even a day. Since we're all upgrading to Firefox 5 round about now, and Aardvark is currently incompatible, if you are reluctant to install a modified alternative version then why not use the developer's own Aardvark bookmarklet, which works perfectly fine with Firefox 5? It's at http://karmatics.com/aardvark

Showcase

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

In Firefox 3 this was a useful add-on with a nice range of display options (tab, sidebar, window) but in Firefox 4 it clashes with the new built-in feature Panorama. It hijacks the down arrow on the tab bar, preventing the display of the Tab Groups menu, and its functionality now seems redundant. Perhaps it could be modified so as to work in conjunction with Panorama and to offer complementary functionality.

Showcase

Clashes with Firefox Panorama Rated 3 out of 5 stars

In Firefox 3 this was a useful add-on with a nice range of display options (tab, sidebar, window), but unfortunately it clashes with Firefox 4's new feature Panorama. If Showcase is installed then the down arrow on the tab bar opens Showcase instead of the menu for Panorama's Tab Groups. Also, with Panorama built into the browser, Showcase seems pretty well redundant, so with some regret I've uninstalled it. Perhaps Showcase could be modified so as not to hijack the Panorama controls, and to provide some complementary functionality.

Firefox 3 theme for Firefox 4+

How to use personas with this theme Rated 5 out of 5 stars

There is a simple solution to the problem I mentioned, two comments back. Firefox 4 (currently 4.0.1) won't allow personas to be used in conjunction with 3rd party themes like this one (which may or may not be a bug). The problem can be solved by changing the value of lightweightThemes.isThemeSelected to true in about:config after installing this theme, or any other theme of your choice. That will allow a persona to be applied subsequently. Hope this helps someone.

Firefox 3 theme for Firefox 4+

Thanks, but this doesn't really solve the problem Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This theme does what it claims to do (so I have to award 4 stars) but it doesn't really restore all the colourful goodness of Firefox 3. It does provide half-decent toolbar icons, but installing a theme means you can't use a persona, and I like personas very much indeed. I'd rather have Firefox 4's barely visible monochromatic toolbar icons than be stuck with a monotonous and sterile theme. If anyone knows how to customise toolbar icons with userChrome.css I'd be grateful for the information.

Menu Editor

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Excellent, indispensable add-on - it's one of the first things that I install in a new Firefox profile. One extra feature that I'd really appreciate would be the ability to resize the menu edit window. I have numerous add-ons and therefore a huge number of context menu items to manage; scrolling up and down in the tiny edit window isn't much fun. Still, without Menu Editor, my context menu would be cluttered chaos. Many thanks to the developers.

Google Reader New Style Minimalistic By DemianGod

Excellent Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I've only tried the Greasemonkey script which I assume is equivalent to the full add-on. It removes all the clutter, uses a smaller font, and greatly improves readability and navigation. I highly recommend it to anyone with a large collection of subscriptions. Many thanks.

Fasterfox Lite

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

There's no doubt that this add-on improves performance but it has caused me a headache recently. While using only the moderate 'Optimised' setting, my IP address was banned by a web site which I need to visit regularly. To other Fasterfox users: if you ever find that a web server on a small site suddenly becomes 'unavailable' after you've hit it a few times, Fasterfox may very well be the issue.

SoundUnwound

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Soundunwound.com looks like an exciting project. However, given the current speed of Firefox, I'd rather not install another add-on just to use one search engine. Please consider submitting your details to the Mycroft Project, to generate a standard search engine plugin. so that we can search SoundUnwound directly through Firefox.

Indispensable. Should be part of the core build. Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I am dependent upon this essential add-on. Trying to work without it is a frustrating waste of time. Please consider developing a version of this for Chrome, which needs it very badly. A million thanks for your excellent work.

Good, stable and problem-free add-on. I have used it for years.

Extremely useful, thanks!

It would be even more useful if the user could decide how many punctuation marks in a row are excessive, in the same way that you've given us the ability to decide how many spelling mistakes we can tolerate. :-)

Linky

Indispensable. Excellent. Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I am extremely sorry to see that this brilliant add-on has started to receive poor ratings. I have been using Linky regularly for years, in a browser loaded with other add-ons, and I have never had a problem with it. It is an amazing time saver and I recommend it highly. A million thanks to the developer.

Save Images

Extremely useful Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I'm sorry to see that this add-on is receiving 3-star and 4-star ratings because it can't perform every imaginable image-related task, and also make the tea. I find it absolutely brilliant. When used in combination with the Linky add-on ("Open Selected Links in tabs") it saves me vast amounts of time in downloading images from multiple tabs. A million thanks to the developer.

Extended Copy Menu

Extremely useful Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is fantastic. Immensely useful for web developers. Thanks very much.

A suggestion: it would be ideal if text trimming options were offered for the 'Copy Plain Text' function, like those offered by the Copy Plain Text add-on (which this otherwise replaces very nicely), i.e. 'Trim space around text', 'Remove extra spaces', 'Remove empty lines', 'Make as default COPY action'.

Element Hiding Helper for Adblock Plus

Excellent Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This add-on is extremely useful and well designed. It is very easy to use. It delivers the power to wield Adblock like a scalpel to every single user, not just geeks who are comfortable with arcane syntax. Brilliant work!

Google Shopping List

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

This add-on forces you to give an e-mail address to register at elertgadget.com, so that you can keep a list of bookmarks. Why? It gives you a browser control that lets you select your locality (but doesn't offer eBay UK) and then appears to do absolutely nothing. If there is some actual functionality to this add-on, then the developers need to drop their extremely tiresome sales talk and explain exactly how to use it. Google Products searches Amazon itself though, so I really can't see the point.
