In a little more detail...

Scott Turner has a Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence from UCLA.  His dissertation subject was a program called MINSTREL that told stories about King Arthur and his knights, as a way to explore issues in creativity and storytelling.  For the last twenty years, Dr. Turner has worked for the Aerospace Corporation, where he advises the nation's space programs on software and systems engineering issues.

Dr. Turner is responsible for adding Keystone Cops, squeaky traps, rock moles, fountains and spider webs to Nethack, won the ACM International Programming Contest in 1989, and leads an Irish music session in Northern Virginia.  He is the author of the Platypus and Rsstler extensions for Firefox.  He also develops a program to predict college basketball games.
