Memory Fox

Super Add-On Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I too tried Memory Fox some time ago, I'm guessing somewhere around the time of version 4 or 5, and unfortunately it did not work well for me. But this version is much different...It works like a charm, usually keeping my Firefox's (version 8 with XP) memory consumption well below the 70MB mark. Rarely does it now hit the 100MB mark, even with 5 or more tabs open...a scenario that would easily consume 200+ MB of memory, without this add-on.

Now some may think, what difference does this savings make if you have 2 or 3 GB of memory onboard? Well it doesn't work quite that way. While of course your overall system performance will be much better with the more memory you have installed, it is still very important to keep your browser memory usage as low as possible in order to achieve top performance. In other words, a browser which uses 200 MB or more of memory will most likely become very sluggish regardless of how much RAM you may have in your system. In fact, any program which has to process 200+ MB of data at a time tends to slow down.

Well done guys!!!

Bookmark's 404

The only reason I gave this add-on a 1 star, is because I could not give it a zero. This add-on is 100% pure garbage. The problems that it causes are far worse than a getting any number of 404 page not found errors. Running this add-on causes literally 1000s of cookies to be downloaded from the add-on's testing of EVERY bookmarked link, with no option in this add-on to abort operation once started. Eventually the FireFox browser just hangs and has to be closed using Windows ctrl-alt-delete "End Task" option. I do not recommend it to anyone.

FastestFox - Browse Faster

SlowerFox
This add-on does not make FireFox faster at all as claimed. In fact, it slows it down considerably. I would not recommend.

ReminderFox

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Excellent Add-on! Eliminates the need for an external calendar / reminder application. Great Features. 5 Stars all the way!

bit.ly preview

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

The only reason I gave this add-on a 1 star, is because I could not give it a zero. It is without a doubt, one of the very worst add-ons that I have ever seen. Perhaps if there was just 1 bit.ly shortened URL on a page, it may be slightly tolerable, but when there are multiple shortened URLs such as with places like Twitter, the performance of this add-on is simply not acceptable. It goes like this: If the add-on cannot access a site to get the actually destination of the shortened URL, your browser will just hang until the page can be accessed. Thus it is 100% pure junk! Simply avoid and save yourself a whole lot of time and aggravation.

ColorfulTabs

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

ColorfulTabs is a great Firefox Add-on! So far ColorfulTabs is is the only "Color Tab" add-on which works perfectly with the latest version of Firefox (3.6), and unlike some similar tab add-ons, ColorfulTabs is not a memory hog. Well-done!

LastPass Password Manager

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I personally would never trust any online website to handle all my passwords. That is simply asking for trouble.

All-in-One Sidebar

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Excellent! Quite arguably the best add on available for Firefox.

Flashblock

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Excellent addon. A must have for any serious surfer who is tired of being forced to view the many flash advertisements now filling many web pages.

Show Password

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Very useful addon providing no one is looking over your shoulder. It lets you check those long passwords for accuracy before hitting the enter key.

RAMBack

False Claim Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Plug-in does nothing to free up memory as claimed. I'm using FF version 3.0.10 with XP as can see no difference with or without plug-in enabled.

HootBar

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Too few features to make it worthwhile. Besides TweetDeck has now become the Industry standard and is also free.
