Update to post Below Rated 5 out of 5 stars
WOW! a response and new update in under 1 day. Now that's what I call support. BOTH my suggestions have been implemented and they seem to be working perfectly, as desired. Terrific! :)
The "Limitation" you mention of not being able to auto sort if moving Bookmarks within the same folder is in my opinion very minor.
I am very happy to upgrade my rating to 5 Stars for both "Sort Bookmarks 0.3" and your support.
"Sort Bookmarks" is my Bookmarks sorting add-on going forwards and I now have one less Legacy add-on to replace. :)
Many thanks heftig.
Suggestions Rated 3 out of 5 stars
What this add-on does currently is very useful bearing in mind some sort add-ons (including the one I use) will cease to function when Firefox 57 disables Legacy add-ons working.
I have only tried out "Sort Bookmarks" for a few minutes (having seen that its FF57 compatible) and am pleased to see it seems to do what it should quickly.
However I have immediately noticed a serious inconvenience, which will no doubt be a nuisance for many potential new users.
When "Sort Bookmarks" sorts, it treats separators the same as bookmarks, disregarding their use by users as group separators, and it moves them all down to the bottom of the each Bookmark Bar Folder's drop down list.
This means if users wish to have their bookmarks grouped between separators and each group sorted separately from the other groups, then they cannot currently with this add-on (unless I have missed something)
1) Please can I ask that you find a way to enhance your add-on, to respect Groups separated by separators, by sorting each group independently of other groups, otherwise it is pointless using separators with "Sort Bookmarks".
2) May I also ask whether it will be possible to to have the option of an auto or manual sort setting. It would be a nice option, when adding a new book mark to a Bookmark Tool bar Folder, if the newly added bookmark automatically is sorted when dragging and dropping, without the need to manually sort afterwards, place it exactly in the correct sort order..
With the the implementation of the above 2 options my rating would move to 4 or 5 without hesitation.
Intended e10 and Webextensions compatibility. Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This addon will be ported to webextensions?
by Stephan Mahieu (Developer) on February 26, 2017·
Yes, I am happy to say that work on porting this extension to e10s and webextensions has been started."
Thank you SO MUCH Stephan.
I was afraid you'd decide to no longer support it, like so many Add-on developers are considering or intending. Form History Control is one of my favourite add-ons and has saved me SO MANY TIMES when Firefox crashed or I accidentally closed the wrong tab or firefox itself.
Form History Control is wonderful and IMHO its a "must have" Add-on.

"With firefox 20.0b1 no longer saves the bookmarks HTML and hangs."
and I suspect Ethsen February 25, 2013
"Excellent, been using it for a long time. Just upgraded to version 20b1 and it hangs on extension backups."
is caused by same issue. Under "Backup Type Tab >Selective>Additional options" deselecting "Backup bookmarks (.html)" appears to allow FEBE to backup all other options normally without hanging.
