My Reviews

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This is an extension that I have wanted for a very long time. I did mention a similar idea to the producer of SmileyXtra as that went totally crap after he changed it so he wouldn't need to keep updating the smiley database, but nothing ever happened.

Now this is exactly what I wanted, even includes the essential ability to save the smileys/emoticons.

There is one problem I have experienced and that is the short cut key doesn't seem to work. Ctrl+Alt+E or Ctrl+Alt+A does nothing but show a character, it doesn't convert the text to emoticons like the instructions suggest. Not a total deal breaker but for speed, not having to reach for the mouse would of been good.

KeePass Helper

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Thank you. The perfect addon for Keepass users.

Be aware everyone - it does not work with Titlebar tweaker! Mr Techs Toolkit works fine however to use multiple Firefox browsers with different password sets in Keepass :)

Using these with Proxomitron and JDList gives me the time/date of page load in titlebar and website which is perfect for forum use.

British English Dictionary

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

@Jillie Ace

It is for spell checking text boxes/web forms etc. After installing any incorrectly entered text in text boxes and web forms are underlined and if the word is highlight and right clicked a menu shows with suggested corrections.

There is a spellbound extension which improves spellchecking and makes it more like older versions of FF as they used spellbound too.

Page Update Checker

Was an excellent extension which has never been equalled Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This used to be an awesome extension when using earlier versions of FF, the best of it's kind. It made doing some work so much easier when waiting for information to appear on certain sites.

Why has no one taken this project back up?

Did the Author Die or something?

May he rest in peace!

Resize Search Box

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

It's 0.0.8 that I use, from the homesite. Changing the maxversion in the install.rdf seems to work, or using Mr tech toolkit will do it.

Resize Search Box

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I have used this extension for a very long time as I find it so useful. I would disagree that Firefox 3+ has the same functionality as it does not. Resize search box can allow the search box to be resized from the right edge which Firefox 3+ does not allow. I have an ontop windo located where the default search box is located so it covers the search box. I also like buttons located after the search box so they are visible and resize search box does all of this for me.

It is possible to modify userchrome to change the search box size but that is not dynamic like this extension provides.

I have changed the install.rdf and it does seem to work on Firefox 3 & 3.5 but I don't know whether it causes any problems.

An simple but excellent extension a real must have for me.

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

It doesn't work with Firefox 3.5+ like it is stated it does.

The install.rdf shows it only supports 3.0.*

close, but not what I wanted Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Trying it with Firefox 3.5.

It might be good if the Paste and Search put the text into the search bar rather than leaving it blank so it could be altered for new searches. That is a bit of a deal breaker for me, so I will be back to using Paste&Go 3 for the time being, which means right clicking before selecting the paste go/search which is slower.

Lazarus: Form Recovery

Fantastic Addon, but........... Rated 4 out of 5 stars

A great Add on if you use Forums as it can same a massive amount of time and frustration having posts lost.

The one minor problem I have is not with the extension itself but the extension version number and what gets display both on addons.mozilla and the Lazarus homepage. I have several previous builds and none of them match the build that is currently on the Lazarus homepage and I don't know what build that is! But after installing I find it is 2.0.3 and that is not stated anywhere!

So for people who like the latest thing, the developers should at least make it clear what the current version number is.

One lost star rating for that point alone.

Organize Search Engines

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I have tried other search engine managers but always end up coming back to Organize search engines. Most other managers have many annoying features whereas this one does most of what I need.....all except for saving.

British English Dictionary

Another Cunning ploy to Remove British English? lol Rated 1 out of 5 stars

With regard to Psilax's comment, no the version available for Download at my post date isn't for Firefox 3.0.11, the max version is for Firefox 2.0b2, so this is for Firefox version 1 & Firefox 2 betas only! Someone must be putting up old versions because no one bothered to change the version number. I am sure there was a version for download which worked for Firefox 2 & 3 before.

I have had to change the maxversions to 3.6 for all products so it will install until someone at Mozilla fixes the download.

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I agree with an earlier members comments, v v, it really needs to be able to keep the default site icon as I only use it to make the tabs more easily recognised on sites where a load of tabs open all look the same unless they take up lots of room to see more of the site title. With 100+ tabs open find tabs is difficult and tooltips are too slow.

Image Assistant

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

It might be okay when it uses something other than Windows picture and fax viewer to open the images. Even using the default file association program used for the file extension would be better. I see from the development notes that a configurable viewer is planned. That can't come soon enough as the current program I just could not be bothered using.

Add Bookmark Here ²

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

I have been using Add Bookmark Here for years as I always found it the convenient way to add bookmarks but I this version is not as good or usable as the older versions which worked with Firefox 2+.

Not being able to move the window makes it practically unusable at times due to the long bookmark list I have and the position the window opens.

So please update this and make it like the previous version worked where the window could be moved.

Web Search Pro

Pretty good but not Perfect Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I used to use Organize Search Engines extension but as that does not work well with Firefox 3 I needed to find something else.

So I have just started using this extension and from my experience so far I can say it is pretty good. But it's still missing a few features that are needed.

Having the default folders always viewable is a bit off putting when editing even though they are not viewable when empty in the search bar. They should be deletable.

An "Are you sure?" dialogue would be good when clicking remove search engines, especially for the groups which can all be removed far too easily by mistake.

It would be nice to have some search engines outside the groups. Groups are needed to make a large number of engines usable but there are a few search engines which could do with being outside groups such as Google as I don't want to have to go through sub menus to find regularly used engines.

Having multiple sub menus would also be an advantage for people who like massive amounts of search engines but like them well organized.

Forecastbar Enhanced

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Why is this extension now using AccuWeather?

I am sure this extension was using when I last used it. The weather information it used was different to the regular forecastfox.

That's the worst thing about this now.

Leet Key

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Annoyingly it deselects the text after doing a text transform and even more annoyingly it requires two text transforms to do basic capitalize first letters and other simple transforms. But it might please all Leet minds.

Casey Case Converter

Too limited in current form Rated 1 out of 5 stars

A bit limited in it's current form for my purposes. But it has potential if improved.

It could do with
All selected text to ppper case
All selected text to lower case
All selected text to sentence case
All selected text to start case - capitalize all first letters

Those would be the easy one's to do but still very useful for use when forum Moderating.

Leetkey can do them but is very cumbersome when doing it. The quick keys clash with firefox keys unless great care is taken in their selection. Plus text de-selects itself once a transform is selected. But it usually takes two tranforms to get the text into the desired state.

That would be were Casey could be beneficial.

SearchLoad Options

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Might be useful if it worked with Paste & Go in Firefox 3.0.8 but it doesn't. It only works with clicking the search button or via keyboard, neither of which I use.

Organize Search Engines

Very good but could still be better Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Just over a year ago I posted saying it did not work properly. I have just re-tried it on a new Profile created yesterday and it is working :D

So I don't know what has changed, the extension is the same so unless it was the profile or possibly new versions of firefox that fixed it I don't know.

It could still do with having a save search engines feature so that the layout could be kept the same/restored easily. Until then I will have to try and find a way of backing up the extension/search engine layout so I can restore it quickly. But this should be inbuilt.

Previous Post:
[When this is installed it becomes impossible to Move a search engine in the list which makes it practically useless. It used to work great with Firefox v2 but since moving to Firefox v3 it has not worked correctly.

The folders are needed in the search engine list to make organization and finding search engines quick, quick and easy to do. If the Moving worked it would be ideal. But until that is fixed I will uninstall it.]
