My Reviews
Make Link
Rated 3 out of 5 stars
I love this app. I especially like the ability to write my own "capture codes".
But of late it has been playing up. It works once, then clicking the button just reveals a "Configure" entry. I can wake it up by going to setting and disabling and theb re-enabling the app.
Not sure that the right-click option has ever worked.
I suspect something broken in Chrome. I have reported this behaviour to support.
Powerbot for Gmail
Seems to require an annual fee Rated 3 out of 5 stars
It works well enough, but after a while it suddenly started demanding that I pay an annual fee of $14.99.
I have nothing against this, I often pay for addins that make life easier. But I used it to feed Evernote, which is free for many people and purposes.
What I do object is the fact that this "feeware" mode is well hidden, until your trial expires. Can you see anything on its Add-On page here?
There are free alternatives out there. They may not be as easy to use. The again, this one always threw up a confirmation dialogue that I had to dismiss.
Search Site
Recovered swiftly from being bust in Firefox 23 Rated 4 out of 5 stars
Yup. Now fixed. Rating adjusted accordingly. (I never do 5*, just in case something earth shattering comes along, so that's as good as it gets!)Especially good to see a developer responding so quickly to comments. You don't realise how important an add-on is until it breaks. Like others, I found that Site Search broke my search functionality in Firefox 23. (Took some time to work out which add-in had done that.) It didn't take the developer more than a day or two, and a couple of iterations, to fix it. No mean feat given the number of add-ins that it could have clashed with.
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.3.1-signed).Organize Status Bar
Just change the maxversion Rated 4 out of 5 stars
The usual trick seems to work.
>>Download *.xpi file
>> Rename *.xpi.zip
>>Extract install.rdf
>>Edit maxVersion to. 5.0*
>>put back in zip file
>>rename back to *.xpi
>>install
Seems to be OK.

Might be interesting, but the link takes you to a general website. No obvious sign of the add-on.

I like it, but I don't really need the confirmation thing that I have to dismiss.
It is obtrusive enough to make me look for an alternative.
How about making confirmation that optional.

AutoCopy

Update on earlier comment – if you have problems with this in Firefox 3.5, check your settings.
The developer's home page has not updated the note about using the "Copy Plain Text extension". That does not work in FF3.5. If you had it enabled in Autocopy, disable it and you should get it to work again. You have to do this even if you uninstalled ""Copy Plain Text".
That is an immense relief for those of us who rely on Autocopy.

Sadly, even the nbew version on the developer's web site does not work in Firefox 3.5.
That's a pity. This is one of life's essentials.

As someone else has said, this is NOT compatible with Firefox 3.5. At least, not here. Firefox itself says so and will not install.
Otherwise, a very good extension.
Print Hint
Strange behaviour in Firefox 3.5 Rated 4 out of 5 stars
Something odd happens with this one in Firefox 3.5.
When I updated, Firefox refused to start with the "Home Page" selection. It also would not open on pages when I clicked a URL in email, on the desktop or anywhere. Firefox started but went nowhere.
After many tests I tracked this behaviour down to "Print Hint".
Disable it and everything works fine. Enable it and "boom".
Pity, this is one of my "use it all the time" extensions.
