My Reviews

Digest

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Brief was always my favourite feed reader & I thought I was going to lose it when FF22 came out. Digest saved the day - bravo!

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.4).

Back to Close

Insanely brilliant Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I only realise how often I use this simple little add-in when I'm on system that doesn't have it. Especially when combined with a mouse button assigned to Back, it just saves so much faff.

Deserves to be famous.

Bamboo Feed Reader

Nice, but... Rated 3 out of 5 stars

...needs a bit of tidying up. For example, when you Add a feed the URL of the last feed is still there. And you can't complete the Add process by keys, which is a drag when setting up a load of feeds in a batch. Which seem like really easy things to sort out.

And why is the button blue but the icon green? Given that both use a generic RSS symbol, not linking them by colour seems perverse.

(Not as enchanted as I was at first.)

Brief

Wonderful Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I've been using this for ages, and I find it slick & stable. It sometimes goes a bit dodgy after an FF update, but the fixes are out there and effective.

Only niggle: if there are more than 20 new items in a feed - which can happen quite legitimately - it won't pick them all up.

Bamboo Feed Reader

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

As a web developer this is just magic. All other readers I've tried cache the feed. So if you change the page that drives the feed you can't see the effect of your changes.

By keeping it simple & clear, Bamboo really scores over the others.

MeasureIt

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

FF6 took MeasureIt away. Thanks, Kevin for bringing it back.

It was only while it was gone that I realised how often I use this beautifully simple tool. As well as quickly finding object sizes, it's also great for checking that elements that should be aligned are.

DownThemAll!

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Great. It does a few things and does them very well, just like an add-on should.

It would be even better if you could drag a file from the completed downloads window to an explorer window (rather than open up the destination folder & drag from there). Yes, I know you can choose the destination folder. But if the folder you want is already open, what I suggest would be quicker.

iGoogle Tab Remover

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

So elegantly done. So sad that it was necessary. So spend the $1.99 wisely, friend!

Duplicate Tab

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

One of my favourite add-ons. It's been so carefully thought through to work like users think.

I only realise how much I rely on it now it's gone away with FF 3.5.

Brief

Now 5* Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Now that I've found (or you've added) the "Don't mark changed items as unread" option under feed properties, this is a 5* top class act.
