I wish I had something like this for my other browsers. Simple, flexible and effective. Particularly useful if your FF is set up to block various elements so it breaks pages often and you'd rather switch quickly to another browser. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (21.0). At last, sanity restored. v1.7.1 works fine and pages now load as normal again. FF loading pages freezes for a long time with the previous version. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.6).
Works just fine. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.3).
Works well but stretches the status bar vertically unnecessarily. There should be the alternative of sending links through the context/Tool menus and hiding the status bar icon. A history of sent links would be nice. Obviously, working in both directions would be a major improvement. For now the phone>FF direction can be achieved through a combination of ReadItLater (FF extension) and Later Gator (Android app)
It seems to also break the way QuickFolders displays its tabs (colour and format). To see the problem you have to restart TB twice after updating, installing, removing an update. Then the problem remains. Unfortunately, I had to remove Mnenhy because of this. Too bad, because TB's default headers display is useless. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.8.3). Very useful, particularly if you are using a netbook with a small screen. Every pixel counts vertically, so the blank area above the first displayed header could be removed. It does indeed seem to break the Forward function by making TB quote the full headers in the message to be forwarded. The user can fix this by selecting Headers | Normal in the CompactHeaders addon's menu (if installed). This must be done once every time TB start if forwarding is required. The selection switches back to All every time TB starts. It could be CompactHeaders' fault of course. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.8.2).
Very useful but it doesn't work well with withattach. If at all possible, these addons should add to the existing Forward menu, instead of displacing each other. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.9).
Good idea. The killer feature would be 'Delete messages from Trash that are older than x days' -- ie the timer feature would always keep x days worth of messages just in case. Ideally, that would be work with Compact mailboxes too but this may not be that easy. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.4).
Great! Why TB designers thought using words instead of icons was a good idea is beyond me. I don't see the icons selection in Compose though, although it shown in one of the screenshots here. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.6).
I can't believe there are hardly any proper compact themes for TB. A compact version of the default theme would be great. Having looked around this is the only really compact one that looks fine but it's not compatible with the current TB version. I am not very keen on some of the icons (eg the flame for Delete), but it's the only option really. If you install MR Tech Toolkit you can force TB to 'Make this compatible' (ie ignore the version restriction) and in this case it almost works OK. Two or three buttons in Options and Extensions are messed up, but it works otherwise, so I am keeping it for now.
I've been happy with this despite the privacy concerns, however since a recent update FF freezes within seconds after it starts. This happens with all my FF installations (2 WinXP and 1 Ubuntu 9.10), Chrome remains unaffected on all these PCs. This has been reported in the forum but it is not acknowledged. Now I keep it disabled until a fix is released, but I'm looking for alternatives. The problem the alternatives do not support Chrome and IE.This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.4.10).
Good idea but there is room of refinement: (a) context menu icons at least for the 4 well known browsers (b) placing the context menu entries in a submenu if there is more than one external browser showing (c) once the browsers are detected, why not untick the 'Hide' option by default? (d) I am wondering if re-detecting the browsers every time adds to the start-up time. Perhaps detecting only on first run and then on user request (ie when something changes) would be good. (e) more than 4 browsers, particularly as a web authoring app can be defines as a browser (nice!). I am trying to figure out now what the third tab in the settings does! This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.8).
The problem with all these soft-printer-style PDF creators is they don’t maintain the clickable links — my guess is they can’t because of how printing works. Eg if a word is clickable in HTML, the PDF will show it as blue/underlined but it will not be clickable any more — it’s flattened. This is crucial for research and archiving. Unfortunately, the only way to get this to work is the special plugin for IE that comes with Acrobat Pro (the one that creates a PDF toolbar in IE, not the PDF printer), although even that often messes up the layout. I have been looking for years (literally) for a way to do this in Firefox. I can’t believe that Adobe or someone else hasn’t done this for Firefox yet. Other archiving methods tend to have other important problems (eg add-ons like Scrapbook, Zotero, MAF, unMHT etc). It would also be great if an archiving method saved the original URL, title and access date as metadata (Savewithurl and Saveuri almost do that but not quite). We live in hope! This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.75).
Good job! It would be better if hiding http:// etc didn't create a gap after the domain. Also, the search engines on the right could be reduced to the favicon without the name. By the way, removing the name of the search engine still leaves a blank placeholder, so no space saving there. Both of these would save valuable space. Can't someone reduce that 'Mozilla Corporation (US)' identification info to something sorted, possibly the favicon with some indication there is more info? This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.3).
Almost perfect. I wish I could drag'n'drop a link to the autohidden tabbar to create or replace a tab. One way perhaps would be to add drag'n'drop as an optional trigger for showing the tabbar (in addition to ctrl etc). I am using it as a way autohide the standard FF tabbar (with Tab Mix Plus). A simplified autohide for Tab Mix Plus would be another idea. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.7.2009032801).
It works great but everything is stored unencrypted in plain text. Not a good idea for log-on details. It would be a 5 star otherwise. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (126.96.36.199).
It works with FF v3+ only. Unfortunately, it won't maintain clickable links in the created PDF file -- ie they appear in blue underline but they are not clickable. I have been looking for something that does more than the many PDF software printers around, but this add-on is not it. Sadly, the only ways to covert to PDF and maintain the clickable links are to use Internet Explorer and Acrobat's special plugin for IE (not the Acrobat printer), or Acrobat itself as a browser. I am wondering why Adobe won't create a plugin for FF or why someone doesn't create an add-on that feeds the URL of the viewed page to Acrobat Distiller. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.75).
Adding also the date and possibly title would be nice. For more options see also Savewithurl here: https://nic-nac-project.de/~kaosmos/savewithurl-en.html I do a lot of arching and I have been waiting a long time for something like this that actually works reliably. Integrating something like PrintURI functionality in this would be great too (FF truncates urls if they are too long). Sadly, the search is still on. The layout of the page can make the url invisible, frames tend to confuse things and compatibility with NoScript is a major issue. When some of these issues are resolved I will be very happy. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.3.1.2).
Great idea and it works mostly fine -- on certain websites it misinterprets references to \'printer\' eg http://www.zyxel.com/web/support_download_list.php?indexflag=20040906164721&ModelIndexflags=0,420060126090414 but I can see why this can\'t be avoided in the absence of a standard. Some issues: with v0.3 I still see the old style icons on the toolbar -- not the ones with the arrows. With the minifoxflat 0.4.3 theme the plain printer icon appears blank (I see the green/yellow background icons OK) and customisation doesn\'t help. Also, how about an option to operate this through the File menu instead of icons? Some of us prefer to have very few icons on the toolbar. Another idea would be a ctrl+yellow icon for \'print without looking for the optimised page\'. \r\nThis review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.3).
Unless I am missing something, you can simply put all these links on a local page, bookmark it and you don't need one more addon, button or menu item. Also, some configuration would be necessary (eg user id/password for auto-logon and choice of national ebay version like ebay.co.uk).This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.3).
