Progress Bar on Tab

Fine for a While, Then Broke AdBlockPlus Rated 2 out of 5 stars

I have to second Master Jay's reporting of the AdBlock problem. I installed Progress Bar on Tab after updating directly from 3.6.26 to 6.0 and subsequently losing use of another tab progress indicator extension due to incomptibility. Until yesterday PBT worked fine, then inexplicably after opening FF last night there was a big, ugly resizable blank space at the bottom of the browser window and the ABP icon on my navigation toolbar was broken (no longer opened). That weird box is a blank placeholder of ABP's "Show Blockable Objects" window. Even when I resized the blank box "closed"it would be resized open, taking up 1/3 of the window, upon restart.

If not for finding mention of this conflict on the "Known Issues" page in the ABP website it would have been one of the last extensions I expected of causing a conflict. Why knows how much grief I would have endured trying to narrow it down. Install Progress Bar on Tab at your own risk, as by the time extension conflicts arise you may not remember that this could be a potential cause of it. As it is, one of the progress bar annoyances, seeing "Connecting..." until the page finishes loading, is now shorter in duration and there is still a progress indicator on the tab (albeit gray), I guess from one of my other extensions.

User Agent Switcher

Great, but one annoyance Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Works as intended, no imcompatibilities with my 60+ other add-ons.

One problem: I have the icon positioned in my navigation toolbar. Everytime the mouse sweeps over the icon it's dropdown menu opens. This is annoying and distracting. Please fix this so that the dropdown opens only when the icon is clicked., or allow selection of one's preferred action as an option.

Bookmark Autohider

Great But Needs a Few Extra Options Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I love this add-on and always welcome the opportunity to further clean-up the browser window. However, it would be greatly improved by (1) adding on a status bar button by which one could lock open the bookmarks toolbar as desired; (2) narrowing the zone in the address window that the cursor must contact to open the bookmarks toolbar (maybe to just the left where "Mozilla Corporation (US)" appears); (3) adding cursor zones on the left and right of the address toolbar; and (4) perhaps having a selector where the user could specify which switches (cursor zones) s/he'd like to use -- left, center, right, all, or a combination of two.

It's pretty irritating to have the bookmarks toolbar swing open everytime I mistakenly sweep the cursor over the address bar. With a narrower central zone and additional side zone, each user could tailor use of the Autohider to their personal habits and there could be fewer erroneous incidents of revealing the toolbar.

RAMBack

Doesn't Seem To Work Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Using this with FF 3.5.5. Click the "Clear cache" Tool menu item and see no confirmation that any action has occurred. firefox.exe in Windows Task Manager Processes tab shows no change in RAM consumption after (supposedly) clearing the cache. Like another reviewer mentioned, "Options" is grayed out in the Add-ons box. If there is a tool bar button it's invisible to me. Some basic information on the Add-On page such as screen shots or a link to a web page would be extremely helpful.

Auto Context

Dead On Arrival Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Second time installing and still does not work. "Auto Context Options" in Tools menu does not respond -- I have to open the Options box from the add-on window. None of the changes I make in Options "take". No pop-up menu upon selection. None of the Auto Context menu's options in the main (right click on text selection) context menu work. On top of that, six options (related to "copy", "save" and "search") are missing from the ACM context menu, leaving blank lines, and one the bottom menu item is placeholded with an asterisk. I see a tiny little box to the upper right corner of each row where one would expect the submenu to open. Ihave tried various permutations of Option selections and nothing changes.

I have 23 extensions and one theme (rein) installed. Possible conflicts may be with Menu Editor, Personal Menu, or Multipple Tab Handler. Auto Context does not seem to be affecting any othe FF functions but is not doing _anything_ so I will uninstall. I would love to use this add-on so any feedback would be appreciated.

Tabs Menu

A Drag-and-Drop Tab Menu Would Be More Flexible Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Like EroMraB I would like to be able to move the Tab menu (or preferably, a representative icon) to the navigation bar for direct access. I too am hiding my menu (via Personal Menu 4.1.3) and having to click Alt, then click the Tab menu adds an unnecessary step. A hidden Personal Menu also closes automatically after a selection is made in any of the menu bar drop-downs, thus engendering extra clicks to return to the Tab menu list.

I _am_ keeping this for now as nothing beats it when dealing with 10 or more tabs simultaneously.

VertTabbar

Possible (Minor) Incompatibility with Multiple Tab Handler Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I don't have Tab Mix Plus installed but am using Multiple Tab Handler (MTH) with the "rein" theme. I found the following issues:

I was able to move the vertical tab bar from the right to the left, but the option to change justification does not work. This may or may not be an incompatibility with MTH.

I noticed that in this state (tab bar on left, close button on left, favicon on right) the tab title runs slightly under the favicon so that a sliver of the letter is cut-off. This may or may not be a style incompatibility.

I also agree that even when the tab bar is on the left the close buttons should be at the right of the tab.

The rounded corners of the tabs appeared jagged (yet rounded) rather than smooth. This may or may not be a style incompatibility.

I think the tabs would look better overall if they were round on all corners rather than only the corner farthest from the center of the screen. (To me) the current appearance looks odd.

Regarding the "rein" style, VTb did pick up it's closing tab icons.

I was able to scroll with multiple (30+) tabs open.

I was able to perform one of MTH's main functions -- being able to select (and close) multiple tabs at once. MTH's context menu also worked as it should.

I appreciated the dynamic nature of changing the options, rather than having to restart.

I will second that it would be handy to be able to drag the size of the tab window, but accept the limitations to doing so that you've explained.

Lastly. as far as appearance is concerned, I think the tab window would look better with more of a buffer between the scroll bar and the side of the tabs closest to them. It looks "cramped" as is, but if the space were the same as the space above the topmost tab (and to the outside) the look would be cleaner.

Thanks for your efforts.

Fission

Good Looking Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Works with the "rein" theme and is especially attractive when the progress bar is adjusted to the right.

DragNDrop Toolbars

Does What I Needed It For Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I downloaded this add-on simply to be able to move the Tiny Menu (add-on) consolidated icon from the top toolbar row to my bottom (third) row, for which it worked perfectly. I was able to customize the toolbars in enable mode and the toolbar handles were visible when the toolbars were unlocked. I am using FF 3.0.7 in MS Vista.

I second Mr. Williams suggestions (below) for consolidating toolbar icons should you need to do so.

Favicons Downloader

Can Be useful with the addition of more detail Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I have several thousand bookmarks and left the add-on to run overnight after monitoring the process for the first hour. Fortunately all the interrupts (approximately six, for log-ins and required certificates) occurred prior to then.

Many bookmarks weren't updated but random checks seem to support the fact that those websites do not have associated favicons. The majority of sites in my bookmarks file did not have favicons, but some of the links are several years old and may not have ever assigned one. Newer sights and smaller bookmark collections will probably reflect a higher percentage of favicons added.

Besides a determinate progress bar, a counter/error checker is in order, even if it only displays at the end of the process -- something like "#X favicons added, no favicons detected for #Y bookmarks, #Z websites unreachable." Or at least "Process complete." This morning there was nothing to indicate that the process was finished except the absence of the progress bar.

Overall, it is a good effort.
