Hebrew Calendar

Beyond excellent! ... and how to get Civil date alongside Hebrew Rated 5 out of 5 stars

When I first installed it and saw the little status-bar pane, I thought that was quite nice and it was good.
Then I saw the little Tool-Tip display, and I thought Hey! This is *really* nice.

Then I found the right-mouse menu and the "Open Hebrew Calendar" option and I was BLOWN AWAY!!!

!!! כל הכבוד

This is beyond excellent!

In case you haven't found it yet, there's a handy add-on called Date Picker/Calendar which will give you just that!
I have them installed next to each other, and they look good. I believe it's just what you're asking for.

Date Picker/Calendar

Very nice. Just a few tweaks... Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Very nice. Does just what it says and nicely configurable.

I'm holding back on the fifth star because there are a few little details I'd like to see added.
I don't see a forum for 'em, so I'll list them here:

(1) In "Options" window, please add an "Apply" button to effect the change without closing the window.

(2) When picking a date, allow a quick way to change the year.
Suggestion: Allow to highlight either the month or the year; arrows advance/reverse according to selected field. Default is Month, of course.
Better still, perhaps also: Click on top-line month to open a pull-down menu of months (instead of typing month), and make year writeable

(3) Some more convenience when specifying format:
(a) At least leave the Format bar writeable while the "Help" guide is up.
(b) Better still: When the cursor is in one of the Format bars, allow a selection of one of the Formatting Options to enter that Option into the Format Bar.

(4) Open/Close Calendar Display behavior:
Currently, the first click on status-bar pane opens display, second click causes display to minimize to Windows TaskBar, third click does nothing.
I recommend that the second click should simply close display.

(5) Convenient way to return to "Today".
I recommend: Replace the redundundandant "OK" button (which unexpectedly closes the display) with a "Today" (which would be inactive while the date shown is the current date) button.

Okay, that's my list. Nice handy utility, just a few tweaks shy of perfection.

PDF Download

Would give a negative-number rating if I could Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Very disappointing.

(1) Does not run on your computer. File conversions take place on their (Nitro's) server. Definitely a no-no for confidential files.

(2) Cannot handle files on your local filesystem; must be on a web-site (so their server can access it).

(3) I tried my standard test of a PDF converter -- I have an admittedly slightly tricky file: Something I made years ago in FrameMaker, using just plain text in a single standard font, some with strike-through effect and some with a double-strikethrough simulated by combining strike-through with a line, and also some lettering at an arbitrary angle. FM output was in PostScript, of course. GhostScript was able to convert it to PDF, rendered pixel-perfect when viewed in Adobe Reader (I haven't tried other readers).
Tried "Convert PDF to HTML" under this beastie. Result looked like complete cr*p: lines in *worng* places, worng font, text not angled that should have been, etcetera...

Granted, other free PDF-converters I've tried have not fared much better in this test....

(4) Most annoying of all is the constant push of adware urging you to try/buy their "Professional" version. (If this version works so badly, I'm not even going to bother with their 2-week -- too weak-- demo).

I don't know if this last mis-feature violates the letter of anything, but it definitely goes against the spirit of FireFox Add-ons as I understand it.

Bottom line: I'm sorry I wasted my time with this. Don't waste yours.

Anonymization Toolbar

I couldn\\\'t get it to work Rated 2 out of 5 stars

I installed it and tried to test it. First tried connecting to http://whatismyipaddress.com to see if it truly scrambled my IP. Instead of a connection, I got \\\"Server not found ... Firefox can\\\'t find the server at www.anonymization.org.\\\"\r\nNote the .ORG\r\nThe Anonymization site is .NET\r\nI don\\\'t know whether the glitch is on their end or mine.\\r\\n\\r\\nAlso, I would like to be able to pull down a Bookmark and specify that it should be opened Anonymously. Prefer if the interface, rather than a second URL bar, were an alternate to the Green Arrow that would work its magic on whatever is in the normal URL bar.\\r\\n\r\nI\\\'m uninstalling it and trying something else.\\r\\n\r\nRating of 5 because it was a valiant effort, and it might be that there\'s something simple I just missed...\r\n
