Yes, thanks for the update! This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.9.1). This user has a previous review of this add-on.
Many 'old' addons CAN work in FF 4, except that their configuration file explicitly states that its "maxVersion" (the highest level of compatibility) is less than 4. Something like "3.6*" or "3.*". The instructions below tell you how to extract this file from the .xpi package, edit it in a text editor, and reinsert it into the package. Then you simply hit Ctrl-O to Open a file, then select your newly-modified .xpi file, and that's it.
I tried it with CuteMenus and it works great! My only advice is that you change the version NOT to 4.0*, but to 4.* (otherwise, if this addon isn't updated before version 4.1 of FF comes out, it will stop working when you upgrade).
If there are other non-updated addons you want to try with this, just remember that some plugins still won't work, because deep down they really are incompatible; but most ARE compatible except for the small technical detail that this fix corrects.
I don't need this extension very often, but when I do ... it is a HUGE timesaver. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.5.2).
I'll add my voice to those asking for a FF 4 version. This is a great little addon! I've used it for years. This user has a previous review of this add-on.
It's been great on FF 3 -- saved me a lot of time, since I frequently have ~50 tabs open.
Any chance of a FF 4 version??
Love it. However — it seemed to disappear on me one day, and I couldn't find it anywhere. It wasn't lurking in another toolbar, and it didn't appear in the popup of icons you get when you customize. I tried disabling/re-enabling ... nothing.
Finally I found the answer: I gave up and decided that I might as well at least put the old Stop and Reload buttons back on the main toolbar (since I apparently couldn't use the Stop/Reload addon anymore) ... and the moment I did so, and clicked Done on the Customize popup, the two buttons magically combined! My addon was restored!
As I said, I don't know what caused the problem in the first place, but hopefully my description of what happened will help someone else who's scratching their head trying to figure out what went wront.
It looks like the developer sold out one way or another, since now, NOTHING can be downloaded — instead you're told "sorry about that, but HEY! how'd you like to purchase a program that WILL download the video????"
If this was an error, the developer had better correct it fast ...
