You must have 7-zip, which is freeware. If you don't, find it on the web and download and install it. Go to your preferred color Red Cats download link in Firefox Add-ons page. Right-click on the link and click on save link. Save it to your folder choice on your computer. It will save as either a jar or xpi file. Right click on that file and find open archive in the items 7-zip has added to your right-click menu. Click on open archive. Scroll down to the install.rdf file. Right click on it and click edit. Open it in whatever text editor you use - Notepad is fine. Locate where it says min and max versions and change the max version from 32.0 to 34.0. When you click the "X" to close the file in the right-hand top corner it will ask if you want to save the file. Click yes. It will then ask if you want to update the file. Click yes. Now open Firefox add-ons page and click on the gear that allows you to install an add-on from a file. Browse to that file you just updated and click on it. It will install and you will need to restart Firefox and when you do you will have your Red Cats back.
Thank you for this. I used to use Browse by Name which no longer works in Firefox 28. Why do they always try to make us do without things that work well! This does one thing - brings back the ability to type a store or a web name into the address bar and have it bring up the page - not a google result. Did I say thank you? I'll do it again.
For so many great Firefox features Mozilla idiot-techs take away, thank goodness there are people around who know how to write code to get those features back. Thank you! This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.4.5).
Yes you can make this work for the higher versions of Firefox. You need to have 7-zip (which is free). Right-click on the green Add to Firefox and click Save Link. Save it to your computer, whatever your download location is. It saves as an XPI file. Right-click on the XPI file (remember you have to already have installed 7-zip) cursor down to 7-zip and click on Open Archive. Right-click on install.rdf and click on edit. Find where it says maxversion="20.0.1" or whatever version it says and put in a star (asterisk) just before the end quote mark, right after the last number. Example: "20.0*" The asterisk means and any version above this. When you click file and exit it will ask you if you want to save it. Click yes. Now open Firefox add-ons page and click the little settings cogwheel at the top of the page next to the addons search bar. Click on install add-on from file. Browse to where you have the now updated XPI file and install it. When you restart Firefox you will see that you no longer need to middle click on a bookmark, you can click on it and it will open in a new tab.
YES! Thank you so much. What idiots at YouTube decided to remove rating stars? And what idiots are still agreeing with that decision?
Works perfectly for meThis review is for a previous version of the add-on (184.108.40.206).
I use this every day and would not update to a new version of Firefox without it. This is the most important add-on to me I have. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.5.5.5).
I've been using this add-in for quite awhile and got so used to it I forgot its name. When my computer crashed and I had to add everything new I forgot the name of this little program and it drove me crazy until I found it - - that's how much I use it. The simpler the better for me, and this is so easy and so non-invasive. Just a great add-in.This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.5.3).
