Abandonware? Or just leaving users hanging for another year? Rated 1 out of 5 stars
Had to hit the addon site looking for a couple updates for Fx7 compatibility, and see this one hasn't been updated in five months: last update March 20, 2011, and last response in the support forum March 23, 2011. What a surprise. ;) I stopped using Gmail Manager addon the last time the dev picked up his ball and went home--there were no updates and no response or support from Jan2010-Jan2011. The only thing to change during that time was when he added the donation button, while the bug reports and bad reviews kept piling up. Dude fixes it for a few months, then takes off for a year at a time, leaving users trying to figure out a way to hack together fixes on their own. There are alternatives, people--just write this one off. Why frustrate yourself? This is an established pattern with this addon/dev. Gmail manager is a great idea, and nice when it works. But when it's not supported to keep up with Google's continuing changes, and especially now with Firefox on a regular release schedule, then what good is it?This user has 2 previous reviews of this add-on.
Wonderful idea, but has fallen by the wayside Rated 1 out of 5 stars
I started using RIL when it first came on the scene, as a great way to temporarily shelve articles/pages without cluttering up Firefox's bookmark database. I've continued with it throughout the years, and RIL Pro was the first paid app I purchased for my Android. Unfortunately, the more RIL has evolved the more pronounced and aggravating its shortcomings have become.
Bugs. More bugs. Inefficient UI. No efficient way to organize, whether it's group tagging, or just deleting items (one at a time through the web interface, really?)
The thing that's driven me to finally write this review, however, was skimming through the RIL help forums this morning. Staff is fairly responsive, and very friendly! Every response is exciting! Lots of exclamation marks! But unfortunately, everything is being fixed Real Soon Now, and has been that way for most of the past year and a half. Major update has been promised for at least six months (if not longer, I didn't read the entire forum.) Same questions, same bugs, for months and months and months, that update will be released Real Soon Now! I can understand not wanting to provide a time frame, but some of the issues are over a year old, and you see the same responses being posted. Just wait! Real Soon Now! is the response to every suggestion and bug report...
And having just installed Firefox 7 beta, I noticed RIL has not been made compatible. A post on the forum today says it's because 7 is Alpha and they only support Betas (it went Beta 8/18--shouldn't addon developers have an idea about the release schedule?) Then another post by the same mod saying it wasn't supported because it's not an official release, and they don't support Betas. Who knows what the current policy is, or if it's changed, why they did that, but as of right now, they don't seem very motivated to do much.
It's a shame to see such a good concept being wasted, but I'm off to greener pastures.

I started using this extension as an alternative to the bloated TMP, but have noticed a bug (I'm aware this isn't the ideal place to report them, but the developer's website is in Japanese, which I cannot read...)
TML appears to break firefox's ability to edit a bookmark using the star icon. I.E., when viewing an already bookmarked page, clicking the star icon should bring up the edit bookmark dialog to modify or remove a bookmark--with TML enabled, nothing happens.
Using Firefox 3.6.3. Other extensions installed: AdBlockPlus & Element Hiding Helper; Lazarus; All-In-One Sidebar; Lastpass; BarTab; Greasemonkey; Personal Menu.
Other than that, great extension. Hope to see a bug-fix soon.

*site won't let me edit earlier review*
First, one other major bug I neglected to include in my rant four comments down: session manager functionality also broke with the 0.10.x version enabled.
I initially reverted back to the last 0.9.x version, which restored all functionality. However, I kept plugging away... and found that getting rid of TabMixPlus also eliminates the problem.
I'm not a programmer and have no way of knowing whether the bugs are a part of TMP or TST, but I do know this isn't the first time they haven't played nice together.
For now, I'm going to forego use of TabMixPlus rather then dump TreeStyleTab... hopefully this will avoid any future problems. That said, it sure would be nice if they played nice together.

Just updated to 0.10.x from version 0.9.2010020502.
I just can't take the bugginess anymore.
The "open all in tabs" function is broken with the new 0.10.x versions (instead of opening all tabs from the selected folder, it randomly moves existing tabs around, and opens just one new tab overwriting an existing one with it.)
Drag & drop is broken... with 0.10.x, I can no longer move tabs around the tree, or create child tabs.
From the looks of it, the whole thing is hosed, and I'm not about to take the time to test every function. I have several other extensions installed, and all play nicely together with no issues in Firefox until TreeStyleTabs 0.10.x is enabled. For the longest time, this addon caused problems with TabMixPlus. Then others (recently, BarTab comes to mind.)
I'm just tired of updates to this addon constantly resulting in conflicts and bugs, or having to decide which addon I'm going to enable/disable and always having to sacrifice some needed functionality to work around the bugs.
Worse yet, from what I can tell, there is no channel for reporting bugs if you don't read and write Japanese, and the developer doesn't acknowledge email reports.
Time to start looking at other options.

As someone who regularly has dozens of tabs open, this addon has made my Firefox experience so much more enjoyable. It just works. BarTab has become one of my must-have addons for every Firefox install.
And the developer deserves kudos for being so responsive... an emailed concern was addressed and replied to very quickly.
Great extension. Install it, you'll be very pleased with the results.

Thank you, nicopopo. I'd never have found ProfileSwitcher on my own (doesn't seem to be here on the addons site?)
Installed & testing it out now. Thanks for the tip!
Any similar addons to switch to? Rated 3 out of 5 stars
Sad to not see any news from the developer--many of us need this functionality with 3.6. Can't find a way to override the version check for this addon, unfortunately. Is PM&S now abandonware?
Do any of my fellow users know of a comparable extension that offers similar ease of use in creating and switching profiles?

I'm finding this addon is no longer effective--is it just me?
Still running Firefox 3.5.7, haven't upgraded to 3.6 yet. But over the past several weeks, I'm having a problem with tabs tearing away into new windows--with this addon installed, enabled, and options set properly. Perhaps there's a conflict with another addon--I have several, but all common/standard (such as AdBlockPlus, TabMixPlus, DownThemAll, LastPass, etc.)
Wouldn't mind tab tearing if it worked like Google Chrome's Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Chrome's tab tearing is instantaneous, seamless. Firefox grinds away at my HD for seconds before the new window opens--driving me nuts.
Thank you so much for this extension--it is a must-have for me, and helps restore my sanity when using Firefox. Kudos!

NOTICE: IF YOUR GMAIL MANAGER IS BROKEN:
Scroll down to "View Older Versions"
At the very top, you'll see a new version has been released, 0.5.7.5, and is listed as "experimental." Tick the checkbox and download the newest version and Gmail Mngr will again work fine.
I'm not the developer, so I don't know this for sure... but it looks to me like Gmail/Google changed their login procedure, and this new update fixes it.
I've downloaded and installed the newest version, and can confirm that it works perfectly again.
This is a wonderful extension... please don't downgrade its reputation with 1-star reviews for an easily fixable glitch.

STILL no fix for the broken bookmarking issue.
And the developer ignores every single report of it. Bad. Very, very bad.

"Add Bookmark" dialog still broken in newest version 0.8.2009090201.
Clicking the star button in the URL bar or using Ctrl-D, the Add Bookmark dialog does not open with Tree Style Tabs installed.
As great as this extension's functionality is, it's worthless if I can't add a bookmark or control where it's added.
Sticking with 0.8.2009073102 for now, although I'm going to start experimenting with TabKit instead, which seems to have fewer problems.
Major bug introduced in 0.8.2009081101 Rated 1 out of 5 stars
Like the other poster, I see no other way to successfully contact the developer, so I'm posting this here. I'm a long time user of Tree Style Tab, but the latest update breaks the "add bookmark" function.
After updating, nothing happens when clicking Firefox's star button in the address bar. The bookmarks are saved, but the dialog doesn't open, and I can't tell where the bookmark is saved (I currently have over 2800 bookmarks, meticulously organized in folders, and I can't locate where they are going.)
Similarly, using the Control-D shortcut to add a bookmark does the same thing--no dialog window.
Please get this fixed ASAP, developer! I love your addon, but this is a pretty big issue.
The best. Period. Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Used Roboform for years, with four licenses (two PCs, Palm app, and Roboform2go for my thumbdrive.) Lastpass, though young, kicks some serious Roboform ass. The seamless syncing is a dream... I can now access my passwords and logins from ANY internet connected computer without having to buy additional licenses like I would with Roboform. Bookmarklets that let you use LP in *any* browser (Opera, Safari, you name it.) The developers are very responsive, responding to users on their forums and regularly adding requested features.
And the security is top-notch. Everything is encrypted LOCALLY, on your PC--Lastpass's servers never see your actual data.
Try it. You'll wonder how you ever existed on the web without it.
Loaded with awesome sauce. LOVE IT! Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Just read about this addon over at MaximumPC.com two days ago, inadvertently, while looking something else up. As someone who does a *lot* of downloading, I can't believe I had never heard of this extension.
It works flawlessly. It's lean. It does exactly what it claims to do, and does it well. Have yet to experience any problems. Five stars. Keep up the good work, fellas!
Great concept, but the UI needs work. Rated 3 out of 5 stars
This addon has potential to be a great tool, and is something I would use regularly. Several problems, though...
1. I'm accustomed to accessing options for my extensions via the addons window--but TabTimer's options button is greyed out and inaccessible. Forcing users to go through the tools menu is unwieldy and inconvenient (in my case, my menu bar is hidden to save screen real estate.)
2. A toolbar button would be nice. A status bar button would be even better.
3. An edit option for existing TabTimers is necessary.
In short, if it were just easier to access with a more user-friendly interface, I could see myself using this addon. As-is, it's just too much trouble to go through. That said, I'm eager to see how the future versions turn out.

edit...This review is for a previous version of the add-on (4.1.4).

Excellent idea, but lacking when it comes to implementation.
I have several groups of bookmarks in folders on my bookmarks bar. When setting Smart Bookmarks Bar to autohide (key feature for me), you can't open any bookmark within a folder--clicking on a link just re-hides the bar.
I'll be watching to see if this bug is addressed in the next release, but for now, it's getting uninstalled.
