My Reviews

Simple Browsing Schedule

So good to have this back Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Just a quick 'Thank You' for this.

It's hard to believe how you can come to depend on a feature without realising it.

tabexpire

Nothing happening Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Another tab-junkie, admittedly I have installed on 58 Nightly, but after four days no tabs have been closed or bookmarked. My collection is growing!

Analog Clock

Local time is no longer being shown Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Was fine until recently, when I noticed the time being displayed appeared to change to UTC instead of local.

No sure if Firefox or extension but I thought I should mention it.

OmniSidebar

Works fine for me in Fx55-56 Rated 5 out of 5 stars

With so many grumpy negative comments directed at the writer of this add-on about the last few weeks of one of my favourite add-ons, I would like write in support of the creator and to note that my installation is still working fine in Fx55-56.

Given that even with Legacy dropouts I've still got close to 100 add-ons, I'm almost surprised that so much is still working fine,

Perhaps those with problems should look elsewhere, rather than throw downgrade the add-on, or abuse the creator.

I also noted the 'new' feature in Fx57 Nightly that seems so familiar, and was noted by another reviewer.

uBlock Origin

Small issue seen with Gmail Panel addon Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Just an observation that an ad leaks into the top of the list of emails in a folder until the list is scrolled, then it is blocked/disappears. Gmail Panel 1.2.1 and uB 1.13.10.

This leak just appeared with the WE hybrid version, and the ad was previously blocked from the start when the panel was opened.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.13.10).

Dark Mode (WebExtension)

Flickr and background image problem Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Sorry to report here, but the reporting form on your fails to submit every time I hit 'Send' and just says Contact Admin.

When DM is active on flickr pic pages, the pic does not appear, but does when DM is switched off.

I've also noticed the header background image disappears on some web sites when DM is active.

Not a great problem as you have been clever enough to place the on/off switch on the toolbar for quick access.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.1.5).

YouTube auto Pause and Resume

On/Off button would be nice Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I love add-ons that just 'work' like this one.

I did find one 'wish' though - an On/Off for use when listening to audio from YouTube.

I can go to Tools-Addons select and disable, but that seems primitive, and a hassle to do repeatedly.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.1.0).

Beyond Australis

Another sad loss Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Not really much to say, given the batch of great add-on that are 'essentials' towards making Firefox great.

Without these, Firefox slides down into the mundane, and loses much of what makes it better than the rest.

Tab Groups

Sorry to read of the problems Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Like many others, I have to active on a number of projects at any time, and having each in a Tab Group makes this so simple, allowing easy swithing between them.

Also like many others, I never understood Mozilla's killing off of this as a core option in Firefox.

While I'm not laying the option of leaving Firefox as a threat of some sort, it is true to say I use other browsers, and without effective Tab Groups there is simply no reason or motivation to make Firefox the default option, or continue to convince others it should be their choice.

It's sad that an add-on, rather than a core function, should be, or have been, the reason for my loyalty.

UK TV Guide and Search

Sad loss Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Sadly, finally died today :(

This has been the BEST TV guide for Fx and it's sad to see it go (not the dev's fault).

I've loaded the new XML alternative, but it misses out many channels that this guide included, and I haven't been able to tweak it to get the missing ones.

But thanks, something is still better than nothing.

Throbber Restored

Just as I got used to just having the indicators on my tabs Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I loaded the AddOn from Mozilla and had a large icon, but it was animated.

I use all the smaller icon and button AddOns.

I then loaded the version offered from GitHub, and this fixed the large icon, and it is now the same size as all the other small icons and buttons on the toolbar.

Animation is working fine too.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.1-signed.1-signed).

ColorfulTabs

Long standing favourite which is well maintained Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I have been using ColourfulTabs since it began, and the developer appears to be receiving some unfair reviews as the new Firefox builds (29+) are released.

I find it very helpful as I quickly have close to 100 tabs per session, and I have them automatically coloured by domain, making it easy to find each set of pages within current research.

I am currently using Aurora (30.0a2) with 74 AddOns and suffer none of the complaints being described, so just wanted to thank the developer in light of the negative reviews demanding 'fixes' - as they are probably down to use of old versions that should be updated.

I have an AddOn that flags up new updates (but does not install them until I allow this to happen) within an hour of issue, and have few problems, presumably thanks to not using AddOn that are many versions out of date.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (23.5.1-signed).
