Since Google toolbar was no more Firefox compatible, I regretted its function of highlighting search words... now I'm thrilled I've find out an alternative with this add-on that even does a better job cuz jump-to-words buttons are directly embedded in the google search bar so it doesn't take up space and leaves an uncluttered browser unlike the former Google toolbar that needed to use the add-on bar to show jump-to-words buttons. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.6.2).
This add-on is awesome. I use it combined with another add-on, “Add to Search Bar” that allows to add any search engine to both Goole search bar and Drag & Dropzones (even those you cannot add with the default “Manage Search Engine” function within Google search bar).
I’d just have two lil suggestions of improvements:
1/ Allow setting options to open search result in a pop-up window (for instance, I usually use wordreference to translate words in pages and I’d like the result to show up in a pop-up window rather than a new tab in order to keep on reading while the pop-up page is downloading; that said for other searches, say Google, I prefer it to open in a new tab; that’s why I’d like to have the choice to define settings of how it opens for each search engine)
2/ Allow syncing the add-on through Firefox sync cuz I use a PC and a laptop and each time I customize Drag & Dropzones I need to do it two times
Finally, lemme reply to shiios who was asking to "make an option that if you drag something to an empty space, it would do nothing instead of trying to make it go to the domain. This gets very annoying if I accidentally dragged something and want to cancel it but I don't have any options"…
Dude, just press ESCAPE key while dragging, it works like a charm :)
I tried a couple of translate add-ons and this one is the one! I mostly need it not to translate whole pages but just to translate single words. It's handy and quick to use.
The translation appears directly in the context menu so it allows quick use (quicker than gTranslate add-on cuz you need to hover your mouse on gTranslate in the context menu to see the translation...) and it doesn't show a disturbing and ugly yellow pop-up unlike Wiktionary and Google Translate add-on when you select text that you don't wanna translate but just wanna copy-paste or bookmark for instance.
That said, I regret Google Toolbar isn't Firefox compatible any more cuz its translate function was way better since you just needed to hover your mouse on any word to directly see the translation in a pop-up (without selecting text). However My Translator does a better job when you wanna translate a sentence or expression since Google Toolbar only allowed to translate single words.
All in all, My Translator is a must-have!
I use this awesome add-on combined with another one called "Add to Search Bar" that allows to add any search engine to both the Google search bar and Drag & DropZones search tool (even those that cannot be added with the default "Manage Search Engines" function in the Google search bar).
I'd just have a lil suggestion of improvement for the dev team : could you please enable users to set the option to open specific search engines into a pop-up window? For instance, I often read web pages in English and gotta use wordreference.com to translate some words in French, and I'd prefer the wordreference search opens in a pop-up window rather than a new tab, so that I can stay on the tab of my article...
It's just essential. Definitely. End/This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.3.10). This user has a previous review of this add-on.
I have nothing against display ads such as banners but I hate audio ads on streaming music websites such as Deezer. So AdBlock is so much helpful! This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.3.6).
Very helpful so far. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.2).
