Ghostery

Version 6 interface NOT friendly, resembles Disconnect!!! Rated 1 out of 5 stars

The new interface is NOT friendly, putting trackers in categories is good but expanding them should expand all, too see and change a tracker setting, a slider like in previous versions works better, changing a trackers setting is nightmarish. To temporarily stop blocking on a site, the pause button is gone you need to click the whitelist button, but need to click it off after or it will be added to the whitelist in your options.

In Ghostery Options, the export/import settings to the local machine is gone. Under Blocking Options cookies and trackers have been integrated, but it it says all are allowed, even when all are blocked in a category, and it shows the total count of trackers per category but NOT the blocked ones per category such as............

Analytics 344 trackers: blocking 343 out of 344

The new interface NEEDS tweaking, reverted to version 5.4.11 and disabled auto update!!!

Simple TTS

VERY good, nice voice and speech flow!!! Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This is a great sounding TTS program, the voice is quite good and the the flow of the speech more natural than most TTS addons. If you use NoScript, you NEED to allow ispeech.org or the addon doesn't work.

If the developer would add a pause/play and stop button it would make it 5 stars. As it stands, once I start a selection to speak, I HAVE to wait until it finishes. Sure hope it is implemented in the near future.

Native text to speech ( tts )

Good TTS addon Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This is a good TTS addon that uses Windows SAPI 5 voices, so you don't need to be connected. As I only have Anna that is my only choice of voice to use. It's simple and works good, highlight text, select "Read Text..." from context menu, it starts and puts a pause/play and stop button on the screen.

The pause/play and stop button appear about 1/3 way down the screen on the left side. To get 5 stars, the buttons should appear at the top or bottom of the screen and their appearance could be enhanced as they are very plain.

Memory Fox

Works great, wish it was updated to fix toolbar button Rated 5 out of 5 stars

The addon works GREAT at keeping memory usage from getting overly bloated and the side effects on performance seem minimal. Since my FF has the Addon Bar I have no use for the toolbar button which is annoying but can't be removed as it keeps reinstalling with previously mentioned errors. I followed the instructions from posts by 'umesando' and 'roy'. Afterward you can get rid of the button but when you look in about:addons, it says Memory Fox is signed, but has this warning after the change, "Memory Fox could not be verified for use in Firefox. Proceed with caution."

Will this continue to work when Mozilla forces the use of signed addons only in the near future?

Adblock Plus

Long time user, recent improvements REALLY aren't!!! Rated 2 out of 5 stars

I've been a long time user of AdBlock Plus and was happy with it's blocking abilities and performance, but over the last several months and improvements they have made it slower and a memory hog. I ran a battery of performance tests on Firefox, driving the memory up to 1.5 GB, after closing them all, clearing the cache and history my memory use remained around 900 MB. I removed it and installed uBlock Origin and reproduced the results of the tests, afterward my memory use was around 600 - 650 MB.

For some reason ABP's memory increases and it doesn't release it afterward. For people concerned about memory usage this addon is not your best choice, but it does have great blocking abilities.

uBlock Origin

Great blocker and NOT a memory hog like AdBlock Plus Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I've been a long time user of AdBlock Plus and was happy with it's blocking abilities and performance, but over the last several months and improvements they have made it slower and a memory hog. I ran a battery of performance tests on Firefox, driving the memory up to 1.5 GB, after closing them all, clearing the cache and history my memory use remained around 900 MB. I removed it and installed uBlock Origin and reproduced the results of the tests, afterward my memory use was around 600 - 650 MB. I have 48 addons enabled. Using this with Disconnect gives great protection.

Another plus is having the element hider integrated into the addon and NOT separate like ABP. One thing that would be nice, is if they included the "I don't care about cookies" list like in AdBlock Plus, so I don't need the addon. FIVE *****'s, SIX if it had this!

Self-Destructing Cookies

Great Add On but Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I've been using this add on for a long time and it works great, all of a sudden with Firefox update 36.0.1 the Icon, menu entries disappeared. The add on list says it's active but where'd it go???

Secure Login

Great addon, terrible new icon Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Hate ugly new toolbar icon, great otherwise

Download Status Bar

Great add-on, indispensable! Small problem. Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Great add-on, indispensable! One thing though, recently (a few weeks, maybe a month now) I assume from an update possibly, the status bar appears for no reason (I didn't do a download). It appears with the green arrow on the left side and broom on the right side but shows no downloads, it's set to close 10 secs. after all downloads are complete but it stays open, I have to close it with CTRL + ALT + D or by the mouse menu. Firefox 29.01 with Windows 7. Thanks for this add-on.

Location Bar Enhancer

Nice Addon that has a problem Rated 2 out of 5 stars

I really like the location bar breadcrumbs and context menu but it causes my Firefox 26 to use roughly 7 to 16 percent more of my core i5 cpu. Am I the only person to have this happen?
