My Reviews

Fox Input

Not working Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Used to work great until the last version from April.

Since you don't have a bug report site, I'll drop mine here:
the addon has never worked after April's release, no inputs get focused or cycled.
For an example, test http://webster-dictionary.net. BTW from a quick inspection that site uses iframes.

Textarea Cache

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Works well, simple to use, quick.

Reddit Enhancement Suite

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Comprehensive, massive piece of work with enhancement features spanning all around Reddit.

Update: after 2 weeks of use all my RES settings, filters, tags were wiped clean. There should be an automatic cloud backup running in the background.

Reddit Enhancement Suite

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Comprehensive, massive piece of work spanning well-made features all around Reddit.

Quicktext

Essential component Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Works really well, harnesses plenty of flexibility out of TB, I consider QuickText a core-like component.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.9.11.6).

FireTray

Works well Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Works well on TDE, Debian.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.6.0.1-let-fixed).

Owl - Dark Background

Good work Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Good work overall. The darkening technique provides comfortable colors with attention to preserving contrasts.

Tips for improvement:

The hotkey activation combo alt-shift-d isn't quick to type and in the rush can easily be mistyped for the alternative alt-shift-c, causing wonder and requiring further time to undo the wrong combo and retype the correct one.

The toolbar button is somewhat too complex with its pulldown menu; the button is intended to be used routinely, maybe tens of times per day, and I already see myself accidentally clicking that pulldown arrow all the time and dodge with its menu. I'd prefer that button to be simple, single-purposed, without any sub menu. The donations button contained in that menu could be moved over the configure_sites.html page.

Send Later

Works Rated 4 out of 5 stars

The tool is useful and works fine.

I have to agree the schedule interface is mingled and can be simplified. Liking or not the interface is not a matter of personal taste, it's about making it linear and simple.

WordReference Translator

Quite Ok ;) Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I've been using it for a couple of years now.

I appreciate the rapidity of double-click -> pop-up -> click -> done.
In some pages however the pop-up is not clickable (click has no effect) and if the word is at the top of the page, the pop-up is generated out of the screen edge.

Fox Input

Simple & Smart Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Works very well.

It also focuses on the first input form when page is still loading, letting you start typing ASAP.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.5.5.1-signed.1-signed).

Firemacs

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

All my life I've been instinctively typing Emacs commands into Firefox just to realize once again that FF is not Emacs.

My dream comes true :)

Text-to-Speech (Google™ & HTML5)

You have reached the limit Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I only get a:

You have reached the limit of Google text-to-speech API for the current session,
please wait for few seconds or reload the page to continue.

Adblock Plus

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

The monetary support received from white-listed publishers IMO guarantees long term upkeep to ABP, including bug fixing, lists maintenance, and porting.

For the commies disliking business models, ABP provides an option to entirely disable white lists.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.6.7.1-signed).

Minimum Font Size Per Domain

OK Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Simple and functional.
Problem: it is not able to reduce font size below the default value set by Firefox settings.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.1-signed).

Thunderbird Conversations

Poor concept — Too simplistic Rated 2 out of 5 stars

This add-on restructures the whole TB interface in a too simplistic way which impairs productivity. Recommended only if you don't care about productivity.

The main points I dislike are:
1. . .no "reply" button
2. . .no "delete message" button
3. . .interface bloated with useless buttons
4. . .useless inline quick-reply form. I use Quicktext 0.9 to aid email writing and deploy templates. Inline reply is just useless
5. . .the UI is mostly not customizable, except for minor (useless) details
6. . .unpleasant color scheme: orange, red, blue, gray, light blue. I dislike it.

I would suggest to introduce /way/ more customization options in the add-on settings tab, to best fit everybody's needs or tastes.

Features I'd like to have, either available by settings or by default:
1. . .comprehensive UI headers, soberly showing email subject, source and destination address
2. . .sober buttons, showing /both/ icon and text label
3. . .no CSS shades or blurred round bar effects
4. . .more sober, accessible, and customizable UI

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.8.1).
