ScrapBook X

Great! And a feature request ... Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Hi Danny,
I am amazed by the work you put into this tool (whose previous versions I have used for ten years or so). You have added a few very nice and useful features. Thanks for that!
I have one question, though: Gomita had a feature called "List View" but inside the tree view in the sidebar, that would show the "description" of the entry just below the title. I always found that very helpful, but unfortunately, in 2011 he dropped it. Could you think of a way to display the item descriptions in the sidebar below the item title? That would be very, very great!
Anyhow, thanks for your work and this great development!

Word Count Tool

WCT in status bar Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Answering a previous comment, you wrote "From Firefox 40, they do not allow to use the status bar to display information any more." Who's "they"?! And: quite a lot of other add-ons still work in the status bar, displaying information, too. Don't you think you could look into that again? For me, like for other user before, this was a very important feature. Now having to use the right-click context menu is a lot less simple.
Other than that, this is a great add-on! Please, try to look into it again. Thank you!

Bamboo Feed Reader

Re-installed 1.9 Rated 5 out of 5 stars

OK, I found the old version 1.9 and re-installed it. Phew!

Now, one question for the more experienced among you: How can I enable automatic updates for FF add-ons BUT exclude one single add-on? Is that even possible? For now, I have to go with setting all add-ons on manual update, which is far from ideal.
Thanks for any input, highly appreciated!

And Julien, sorry again, but I really absolutely don't like the new look and I think it's far more complicated and confusing than the old one.
Other than that, you did a great job on Bamboo, thanks again!

Bamboo Feed Reader

The new design is ... terrible. Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I am really, really sorry to put it so bluntly but I was shocked when I opened Bamboo today after the update. All simplicity is gone, and why the hell does everybody have to imitate the uninspired Win-8 look? The OS was not a success, not at all! And it looks plain ... well, uninspired.
How can I get back to the previous Bamboo version? Please, tell me it's possible.
If not, I have to search for an alternative for this excellent reader - excellent, until today, that is.
Thanks for all your work, anyhow. It was by far the best feed reader.

Secure Sanitizer

To be continued ... Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Hi Fabio,
sorry for the delay. I made a screen shot of all my add-ons, you can find it (within the next 28 days) here:
Hope that helps!
And thanks once again!

Secure Sanitizer

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Fabio, I am really sorry to say that the latest update (0.4.0) didn't change a bit. I am now using FF 11.0 (would always keep up-to-date with the releases).
The progress bar still vanishes in a few seconds. No chance of secure wiping.
I suggest you think about the two most obious issues:
1. Maybe the portable mode interferes with some settings of SS.
2. Maybe one of the more common addons blocks SS's functionality (think: NoScript).
Did you try to install a portable FF on a thumb or external hard drive? If not, I'd suggest you do so:
If you need a list of my installed add-ons, I'd gladly reveal it to you :-)
And thanks again very much for your help! For that, I'd like to give 5 stars!

Secure Sanitizer

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Same here: As Hulibobu and Equaer already mentioned before, the progress bar is way too fast (disappearing almost instantly); this can't be a 3-step "US DoD 5220" wiping. Seems the "secure" in "sanitizer" has lost its meaning. The add-on "AskForSanitize" doesn't make any difference. Using Firefox 10.0.2.

Fabio, are you actually reading these comments from time to time?

I used to really love this add-on, but for the time being it has to be considered worthless. Too bad!

EDIT, Feb. 27.:

Thanks, Fabio, for your quick reply!

- I use Firefox 10.0.2 Portable Edition ( on a Win7 machine (P6100, 4GB DDR3), restricted user
- Disk cache size:
Number of entries: 2659
Maximum storage size: 29696 KiB
Storage in use: 26599 KiB

Right after writing this I will wipe and get the cache info again, results I'll post here in a few minutes.

EDIT 2, a few minutes later:

Did a wipe, again, the status bar disappeared after a fracture of a second. Now i get:

Number of entries: 0
Maximum storage size: 29696 KiB
Storage in use: 0 KiB

So, it was deleted, but considering you saying that 25 MB would take "a couple of seconds" my cache wiping should take about the same time. So, there's obviously no DoD.5220 involved.

Any idea?

Again: Thanks very much for your quick reply! I very much appreciate that!

Description, anyone? Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I am using Scrapbook for ages and I'm very, very happy about it - except for one thing: With version 1.4, Gomita abandoned the "list view" feature. Since I use descriptions extensively and they're apparently not shown without "list view", I'm lost. Already went back to v.1.37 and also tried Scapbook Plus which lacks this functionality, too. Anyone any idea how to make the descriptions show in the current version?

Other than that: Amazing add-on!

@ seychellian: Just right-klick the entry in the sidebar and you'll be given the option to "open source url" (not sure about the exact wording; I'm using the German version).

Secure Sanitizer

I sincerely miss it! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

do you think you could spare some time to do an update on your great addon to make it compatible with FF 6? That would be really, really nice!
Thank you!

BTW: I can imagine how hard it must be as a developer to keep track of the ridiculously tight release schedule the Mozilla community is rushing these days. Frankly, even as a mere user it's a p.i.t.a. and I don't quite get it.

List View is gone? Rated 4 out of 5 stars

First, I want to thank you, Gomita, for this amazing addon. It's one of my favorite five for sure.
But now, with the latest update the "List View" feature apparently is gone! The icon is missing and there's no option in the right-click-on-folder dropdown.
What has happened? If it'd be gone for good I'd really, really miss this feature! It was very important to me!
I am using FF 3.6.15 on Windows machines.
Would you mind re-implementing this feature, please?
Thanks a lot!

Extended Copy Menu

Great, but needs update Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Sorry to say but install doesn't work with the latest stable Firefox 3.6.2.

I had it running with 3.6.0 but when updating FF, Extended Copy Menu (V. 1.6!) was disabled due to outdated version.

Are you planning on updating the plugin? I would really appreciate that because I love your tool!

Open link in...

Simply great! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Thanks a lot, Anton! I’d always feel annoyed by websites forcing to open a new window. At least, thanks to Firefox it was merely an »open in new tab« but still I don’t like this behavior. Now with your »open here« command it’s history!
Especially beautiful is the additional setting to group all »open in« commands into one contect folder, that’s smart, too! I would even love to have this very same functionality added to my left klick on links. (Do not even know if that’s possible at all ... Is it?)
Anyhow, thank you deeply.

Post deleted Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Sorry, posted to the wrong add-on. My fault. This one didn't work with me at all.

A-ma-zing! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Whoever genius made this add-on, thanks a lot! I'd use both Evernote and Zotero before, but now moved all my data to Scrapbook, since it's kinda "best of both worlds": It does capture any kind of page or site *or* partial content as Evernote does (by keeping the actual page design, which is an advantage over Evernote), and it allows different kinds of (inline!) notes and highlighting *and* is just an add-on, not an extra stand-alone app (as is Zotero, but Scrapbook is *way* more to the point and much easier to manage).

This being said, I'd like to suggest two features that would be very nice:
1. How about not only being able to set links to "external", but to "internal" pages as well? I'd do this now by getting the desired internal index.html and copying its file address, but it might be more comfortable with a list of available pages.
2. How about tagging? Maybe even with the opportunity to make tags visible in the sidebar as it works with title, comment and URL now.

Those would be two beautiful features. But, as mentioned above, Scrapbook alrady is a real power app. Thanks again!

MacOSX Theme

Very beautiful! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

After being disappointed that there's not really many FF3 themes at all yet, most of which I actually didn't like, I came across MaxOSX, and I was happy again. I like it a lot!

When it comes to the issue some users pointed out with the "too big, too bold bookmarks folder text", I agreed, but found the solution.
Add this one to your userChrome.css:

#personal-bookmarks .toolbarbutton-text {
font-weight: normal !important;
font-size:1em !important;

To me, this does the trick. Otherwise, play around a bit with these values.

Thanks for the great theme!
