My Reviews

Throbber Restored

Thanks! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Thanks so much - great to have the throbber back!

It's especially critical for me as I use the dots' pixel colour to detect end of loading for use in my macros.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0).

Screengrab (fix version)

Not properly working Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Cannot save (or copy) screens with very large content. Such as images above about 4000 x 4000 px. OK below that.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.97.20c).

Context Menu Image Saver

Stopped working for me Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Hadn't used it for a month or two and today cannot get it to save into any folder.

Any problems with FF 26.0?

Save Image in Folder

Target folder no longer opens Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Odd, I posted a review here around 22nd Jan but it appears to have vanished.

I reported that this is one of my most frequently used extensions but I've down-rated it to 4 because the option to open the target folder no longer works.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.3.11).

Context Menu Image Saver

Option to see result? Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Just trying this because of problem with my usual Save Image in Folder. Very neat and simple, congratulations. But I think it needs the option to open the target folder after downloading to provide positive confirmation and to allow immediate renaming etc.

Edit 23/1/12: Thanks for the fast response choobin, much appreciated. I'm keen to get that option but I think I'll pass on using your suggested pre-release procedure. Hopefully I'll soon be able to do it the easy way!

Pocket

Not working, no response from developer Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I'm using FF 18. Pocket doesn't sync from my PC ( with FF) to my iPad. Yet RIL (which thankfully I didn't uninstall) does sync. No reply to emails. No response in hard-to-use forum.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.0.1).

TabGroups Menu

Follow-up question Rated 5 out of 5 stars

(I see no Forum or Support for this add-on, so it seems we have to communicate via this Review medium!)

You said:
2. You can install this version of nightly tester tools to reenable showing the group name to the title from this page

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=726560

OK, I'm not a programmer/techie/developer, so I expect this has an obvious answer to someone versed in these things. I've installed the 'Nightly Tester' but how do I now install the version of TabGroups that shows the group in the title please?

EDIT: Hmm - it appears that my original review has now disapeared ;-(

TabGroups Menu

Excellent Rated 5 out of 5 stars

So pleased to have this extension suggested to me as a solution to my growing frustration with the half-baked FF 'Panorama'. Thanks and well done.

Just a couple of comments:
1. There are too many ways to reach the menus. I can reduce it to 2 (by not showing the Tabs menu) but that means I cannot then see the name of the currently active group. But why are *any* menus needed other than the one accessible from the existing Panorama icon?

2. Ideally I'd like to see the group name permanently displayed, perhaps in the window title if there are no serious downsides, otherwise elsewhere. IMO it's the most important piece of information so shouldn't require any clicking or keying to see it.

3. I'd prefer to see the 'Add-ons Manager' item replaced by a direct 'Options' or 'Tabgroups Options'. I can get to the Add-ons Manager easily enough. When I'm in your menu I'll almost certainly want to go directly to *your* options.

EDIT: Hmm, I can no longer see an 'Add-Ons Manager' item, so suspect that was one of my tabs! In which case, where is the 'Options Dialog' that you mention in your description of newly added features please?

Generic CSS Loader 2

Worked fine Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This clean and simple extension worked fine on the only style I tried. I'd installed Stylish the day before, which is more complicated but has the advantage of not requiring an FF restart. But I'll keep Generic CSS Loader 2 for future experiment, given that I'm a CSS novice.

TabGroups Manager

Author is ill, forum therefore inactive Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I've used this excellent add-on almost since its first release, and would now find it hard to manage without it.

Sadly, it seems that its author, Axel, is seriously ill. I only discovered this when trying in vain to post a query to his support forum, and saw this thread:

TabGroups Manager

Empty tab row Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I cannot follow how to report a bug. Must I register with a name and pw different to my FF ones?

Anyway...

I don't know if this is a TGM or a TMP TMP 0.3.8.2pre.090902 issue, but I have an empty row of tabs. I'm using TMP's multiple row option, and it should recover space when number of tabs falls.

EDIT:
My earlier post doesn't seem to have arrived here, so I'll include it here as an edit. It was a simple review saying something like:
"First reactions: Great! Have duly uninstalled Tree Style Tab as TGM looks as if it will suit me better, and is far more intuitive."

Tree Style Tab

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I echo ThePriestDude's issue about the loss of the Add New Bookmark shortcut (Ctl+d).

Also, when I get to a page from an external link (e.g. email, a file, etc), it doesn't get added to the appropriate tree branch, but at the bottom.
