Resizes search boxes Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is a very useful extension, which I’ve had since I first moved to TB several years ago. It also saves you having to separately view the message source in order to see the message headers, which it lays out in an easily readable format (unlike the message source).

However, this latest update seems to have changed something in the text entry boxes for search, quick filter and other similar boxes where you enter text. Eg, the search box for Search has shrunk in height, the Quick Filter box has shrunk in width but is bigger in height; in both, the cursor is now glued to the icon of the magnifying glass, so that the first letter typed has no space between it and the icon. If I disable MailHops, it returns to normal. This is in TB 38.7.2 on Mac.

I tried to get to the Support page listed here but couldn’t as it timed out...

Edit: Thanks so much, Andrew, for your very fast response! The new version fixes this problem for me :-)

Clean Uninstall

Great potential but need to be careful Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This has the potential to be a great and much better replacement for eCleaner and for keeping your prefs.js clean of left-over junk from old uninstalled extensions.

However, be careful when disabling an extension - as opposed to removing/uninstalling it - as Clean Uninstall will offer to remove its preferences! I frequently disable/enable extensions, and I have to keep hitting “cancel” when the Clean Uninstall window pops up.

When going to “Open cleaner”, it pre-ticks and offers to remove over 200 Firebug prefs (!) and also several @jetpack extensions which are all still installed and enabled.

Open With

V.6.5 for Thunderbird broken on Mac Rated 5 out of 5 stars

V.6.4 is perfect for opening links in other browsers (without the need for the browser to be open).

But v.6.5 and v.6.5.1 don't show the list of browsers in the extension's preferences - it's blank and I can't add any. It also shows the same list of menu options as for Firefox: with options to show in Bookmarks, Developer toolbox, etc (which don't exist in Thunderbird). I've had to revert to v.6.4...

Edit to teply to dev: Wow, thanks so much for such a quick reply! I've no problem waiting for the fix, 6.4 works fine for now :-)

Life saver! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is exactly what I was hoping to find... something that can, in one fell swoop, delete all email addresses in the To, CC or BCC rows when I use “Edit as New” for an email I've previously sent to many recipients but where I want to remove their addresses. Without this extension, Thunderbird will only let you delete recipient email addresses one by one... if there are a lot of them, this is a tortuous time-consuming effort. With this extension, just click the button and, poof, they’ve all gone in one go! Brilliant!

[Using TB 38.6 on Mac OS X 10.10, with tons of other extensions]

CuteButton (and Menu) Icons

Not working at all on Mac Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I've been using Cute Buttons for as long as I can remember, I love buttons and these really help.

Unfortunately, this version 0.4.5 doesn't work for me on my Mac in either Firefox (v.42) or Thunderbird (v.38.5). Also, in FF, it somehow replaced at least two of my buttons from Toolbar Buttons. Reverting to Cute Buttons 0.4.0 obviously makes it work for me again (I'd already previously fixed the signing override in about:config).

I'm not going to down-star the extension as I've never before had a bug with it and this is the first time in years it's not worked. I'm guessing (and hoping!) the dev will find a way to fix it :)

Source Viewer Tab

No longer needed since FF 41 Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Up until FF 41, this was a god-send. I too initially thought "oh no..." when it no longer worked after upgrading to FF 41. After a bit of Googling, I discovered that viewing source in a tab is now built into Firefox. To make it open in a tab, you have to go about:config and search for "" and set it to "true".

Bookmarks Folder Images

Love it Rated 5 out of 5 stars

There's a similar-ish add-on for Thunderbird called "Color Folders" - this add-on for Firefox is way better as you have a choice of icons rather than just a few colours, and the option to add more icons of your own (not that I've tried it yet). It really helps to quickly spot important folders.

It doesn't work for me in Library (Bookmark Manager) but that may be as I use an add-on to open it in a tab rather than a window - or maybe it's because I'm on Mac (OS X, Yosemite). Either way, I don't mind, it works fine in the sidebar, which is what I use more often.

I hope this add-on will survive for years to come :)

PS - I have just under 100 extensions enabled. I'm not aware, so far, of any incompatibility with any of my extensions.

Cookie Monster

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I've been using Cookie Monster for years & years. Easy to use, and I particularly like the feature to "Temporarily allow cookies from" which then deletes these cookies on closing the tab.

However, I too am now getting the parsing error mentioned below by other commenters. An internet search shows this parsing error seems to be common with Cookie Monster. But... I did find this topic on Mozilla's Support group at Google, where the dev for Cookie Monster has apparently promised to look at this parsing error problem -!forum/

I once tried Cookie Controller (on another occasion when Cookie Monster had some bug) but find it far too complicated, and would prefer to stay with Cookie Monster. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed for an update to Cookie Monster!

Still doesn't work - with all fixes mentioned Rated 2 out of 5 stars

I've tried all the fixes mentioned, but none of them fix it for me... As per my previous review of 8 Jan, it still doesn't work for me with YouTube videos embedded on other sites, for instance on some Invision Board forums, I just get a blank space with nothing in it.

I've tried other Flash blockers but still prefer this one. FlashBlock didn't work properly if AIOS is installed (the dev didn't like my negative review, so he deleted it!). So I'm having to use FlashStopper whilst waiting for a fix for FlashBlock.

When it works, it works great. BUT - with this recent update, it now completely blocks embedded YouTube vids on some sites so that they're invisible, even if set to not block on those sites. The only way to see them is to disable the extension.

Search as list

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Excellent and much needed add-on. But... I have a similar problem to oscerl. I'd like to save "Show Columns" in the preferences - except there's no "Save" or"Cancel" buttons… so I can't save it. I also can't save the column layout using the "Apply columns to" as described, because the button for "Search List" isn't sitting properly; I can only choose "Folder" or "Folder and its children".

On Mac OS 10.8.

Edit following psoebr's reply:
Brilliant! Works perfectly for me now :) Thanks so much for such a rapid fix.

Open In Chrome

Not quite as hoped Rated 2 out of 5 stars

I'd only really use this for opening one FF tab in Chrome. For some reason, I thought this would open Chrome if it wasn't already opened, but it doesn't. It only seems to work unless you have Chrome already open. That defeats the object for me as I rarely have the two browsers open at the same time.

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This is excellent and very similar to InterNotes which seems to no longer be developed; the GUI of this is also nicer than that of InterNote.

However... ever since installing it, and whenever I restart after updating or disabling/removing an add-on, I lose my entire custom toolbar - it (thankfully!) returns after restarting FF 3 or 4 times, but it's is very annoying to have to keep restarting FF to get my toolbar back. Sadly, because of that, I've had to disable it and will wait for a hopeful fix!

Preferences Monitor

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I use Cooliris Previews and the Prefs Monitor keeps popping up every single time I preview a link with Cooliris, which is very often! Could this please be fixed or might there instead be a way to exclude add-ons in a future version? I've only just installed Prefs Monitor but will have to disable it because of Cooliris, so can't comment further on how it works or not. I'll temporarily re-enable it to check eCleaner whenever needed as it's great to have a new version of it.

Rise of the Tools

Brilliant! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Using version on a Mac (Lion) with the default theme, it's given me back my 2nd toolbar where TB 11 had caused the dreaded text next to icon instead of below it. The main default toolbar is a paler colour than my 2nd toolbar or the tab bar, but I don't care if tabs are back where they should be and my 2nd toolbar has text below icons. Thanks so much for this!

Hides Facebook Like *boxes* Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I haven't tested this long enough yet to know how it compares to Ghostery in general, but so far seems good. I already have Ghostery, Better Privacy (for Flash cookies), and Cookie Monster which I have set to only accept cookies for those sites I allow whilst my Firefox settings are set to not allow any cookies at all (so that Cookie Monster controls them). So I'm not entirely sure if I need the opt-out cookies if I were to keep using Cookie Monster?

One of the reasons I decided to try DNT+ is because of its claims that it still lets you use social buttons. I have websites of my own where I've got Google Plus buttons, Ghostery changes the appearance/colour of the button whilst DMT+ doesn't. I've also got a Facebook Like Box which has both a link to our Facebook (business) page as well as a "Like" button which also shows how many people like us. Ghostery gets rid of this totally. DMT+ leaves the "like" button but not the link to the Facebook page nor the number of Likes. As I need to see how many Likes we have without having to keep logging in to our Facebook page just for that, I had to "allow" Facebook Connect for our domain. If any of our visitors should be using DMT+, then they wouldn't be able to go to our Facebook Page without having to like us as the link's been removed by DMT+. For that matter, I like to see how many Likes other sites have but can't as DMT+ blocks this in Facebook Like Boxes.

Clearly, DMT+ wins with regards to social buttons. But I wonder if this with the Facebook Like boxes may be something that might be possible to fix in a future update?

Oh, and I have the same problem as Brad Culwell with the Preferences button in about:addons opening up a blank page and then closing it entirely.

Edit 4 April - This is breaking functionality on the site where items on the right-hand side column are being superimposed on each other, making it impossible to see links to latest articles in other areas of the site.

Manually sort folders

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I was delighted to find this as it's just so useful. But, sadly, it doesn't work with a Global inbox. It worked fine until I switched to a Global inbox. After that, TB would hang and be "not responding" every other (2nd) time I started or restarted it, leaving me with no option but to kill the process in order to close and restart TB. As the support site's not had any replies to queries for 3 months, I'm wondering if the dev is still maintaining the extension? If he is, I do hope he can fix this please.
