My Reviews

Popup Search Engines

Yeah that worked Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Well kind of.

Bing is my default but when I do this it searches Google as if it was the default.

Popup Search Engines

Finally! A context-search I actually like! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I have tried oh so many context-search addons and I was never pleased with any of them until I tried this one.

So many others have numerous context-menu entries, or limit the choices of places to search from, or worse... add so many I would never in a million years use.

Thanks for keeping this simple.

EDIT: I admit I am having trouble getting the default search to work. You said to highlight the words using the right mouse button but you (I) cannot select words with the right mouse button. If I select words like normal with the left mouse button your normal pop-up menu appears. If I ignore that and right-click the highlighted (selected) words I get the normal page context menu and not your instant immediate default search.

EDIT #2: Yeah that worked thanks.

Owl - Dark Background

I just love this addon so much! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Thank you so much for making Owl! This helps my failing and tired eyesight so much!

You're the best!

EDIT:

I haven't used this a lot, or at many websites yet since I just found this addon today, but I can tell you it does not work at all on Flickr.com, that site completely disappears. I have to turn Owl off to use Flickr.

I also noticed that if I have Owl set to on, and reload pages for a brief moment it flashes in the normal white background, I guess you have no control over that, it'd be nice if it flashed the same color background that Owl uses.

I also noticed that Owl doesn't keep it's ON/Off setting between browser sessions. Since finding Owl, I keep it ON all the time but when I restart the browser it switches back to the normal blinding white background and I have to turn Owl on again. Can you at least make it so Owl starts up in the ON position if that is what we last set it as?

Thanks.

Places Maintenance

A little help in understanding please Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I know I can't be the only person who is not quite sure what exactly these "places" category of addons do.

What's the difference between cleaning the databases and vacuuming the databases?

Does this addon do the navigation bar history too or no?

Thanks.

PlacesCleaner

A little help in understanding please Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I know I can't be the only person who is not quite sure what exactly these "vacuum places" category of addons do.

Another review mentioned that the navigation bar wasn't cleared out (my phrasing), so does this addon do the navigation bar history too or no?

Thanks.

Bookmark Duplicate Cleaner

A toolbar button would be nice! Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I have my title bar and menu bar hidden. I don't ever like having to use the menu bar at all, but for this addon I need to in order to run your addon to check for duplicates.

Can you please add a toolbar button for this? I am not a big fan of using keybinds/shortcuts either but a toolbar button would be perfect.

Having options/choices are great, no?

=)

Bookmarks Checker - check for bad links

A really helpful addon, just missing one thing Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I like this addon, I use it a couple of times a month to clean things up.

Years ago I used to use "Bookmark Duplicate Detector" but it has long since been obsolete. This "Bookmarks Checker" addon is a nice replacement but it is missing just one thing that I feel is of vital importance!

The duplicate checker NEEDS to have a column showing which folder where each of the bookmarks listed reside at. I cannot and WILL NOT use the delete duplicates function because I have no idea which or where those bookmarks are being deleted from.

I sometimes knowingly keep an extra copy or two of certain bookmarks. But when I unintentionally get duplicates I need to know which folders they are located in because I give preference to certain folders over others.

I will gladly give this a five star rating, but the duplicates search results window needs to have a Location/Folder column added.

Two other ideas as well -- (1) the results window should be resizable and the columns should be resizable too; (2) When we perform one search and get our results and take action on it, when we close that window we have to reopen the addon again to perform another function. Can you please make it so the addon does not close entirely? Make it so after we perform one search we can do another right away without having to reopen the addon again.

Tab Mix Plus

Tabs opened, open fully loaded. Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I have Firefox's options set to "Don't load tabs until selected" and I prefer my browser to work that way.

When I "Open link in new tab" and then go to click on them to view the tab they are already fully loaded.

Can you make Tab Mix Plus respect/follow/honor Firefox's settings please?

Thanks.

Highlight Tab

Trying this addon out Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I need something like this and I saw that there were a couple of addons to choose from but I am giving this a try first.

It would be nice if this addon remembered the tab highlight color when the tab is unloaded and from one browser session to to another.

I also think it should work better with Firefox's new rounded tabs not just the old squared tabs. It doesn't look as good on the rounded tabs. Also, perhaps because of this not working so great with the rounded tabs, I noticed that when I highlight a tab it increases the height of the tab bar slightly, it's too tall - the height of the highlight needs to be adjusted a bit.

A bonus feature would be to let your users pick their own colors from a color-wheel or RGB selector.

Thank you for making this.

Hugo Search All Tabs

Just found this gem of an addon! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

What a powerful addon you have here, no doubt about it!

Where are this addon's options though? I don't see any, anywhere. You replied to one of the reviews saying that Hugo now has the option to search for less than 3 characters but the current version I just downloaded insists on a minimum of 3. I see no where to set it for less. I also don't see how to move the Hugo sidebar to the bottom like you showed in a screenshot, or to the right-side of my browser.

I also have your All Tabs Helper addon too I didn't realize that was yours as well but I found both tonight by happenstance!

One suggestion if I may. Your All Tabs Helper addon includes itself in Firefox's default "Show Sidebars" button but Hugo does not. Can you add Hugo to that too like you did for All Tabs Helper? It means one less button cluttering my toolbar.

I cannot imagine how long it took you to make this addon but it's amazing and I am so glad you did!

Thanks a ton!

Persona Switcher

Ignore certain personas when using the auto-switcher. Rated 4 out of 5 stars

To drb80 the add-on developer, I updated my previous reply below to give you that link.

As far as my suggestion goes, I still think it would be a nice feature if we can tell the addon which personas to ignore. I have some installed that I may use once in a while for certain reasons but not something I would want the randomizer to use. I do not want to remove the persona, I just want to keep it disabled and I will manually turn it on when I need it.

Add-on Preferences Button

This is such an AWESOME addon! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

OMG I wish this was around years ago back in the early 2000's.

Sweet addon and thank you so much for making it!

NASA Night Launch

Compatibility between addons Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Are there any plans to make this work with the "Beyond Australis" addon? The bottom section of the flyout bars are not skinned.

BTW, I edited my reply below.

Thanks!

Persona Switcher

Auto-switching doesn't seem to work. Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I set the auto-switcher in options to 1 minute to test it. It didn't work, it never switched personas.

I went back to the options thinking that maybe I forgot to checkmark the box, it was checked. I closed the options and it switched. I continue to wait for it to switch every minute, and it never switched again. 8 minutes have passed without it switching so I wrote this here.

If you can get it to switch reliably I will up my rating.

EDIT: By default the auto-switcher switched to the least used (very bottom of the list). Any time that I would manually switch the persona, a minute later (per my test setting) it would try to load that least used one at the bottom of the list again.

I went back into options and told it to pick at random and now the switcher is working every 1 minute. I think the problem may be the persona itself. It is the Developer one, it would switch to the Developer one and it would stop switching after that.

When I load that Developer persona manually it works fine so there is no need to disable it for your addon. It would be nice if your addon gave us the option to ignore certain personas, either problematic ones, or ones we don't like as much but still want to use manually on occasion.

I upped my rating from 2 to 4 stars.

EDIT: Here is the link to the Developer addon/persona

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/devedition-theme-enabler/

It's one of those no-restart ones, however in your Addons window/extensions tab where you would manually enable/disable it, for a brief moment after telling it to enable, it says it requires a restart and then a second or two later it clears that message. Perhaps because of that, this is why the auto-switcher hangs. /shrug

NASA Night Launch

Always liked this complete theme! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I read through several pages of comments but I have yet to see anyone mention the fact that the tiny little star button (favorite button?) in the address bar does nothing when clicked on, it doesn't even have a pop-up tooltip.

I am just so used to clicking the star in the address bar to favorite a webpage, it bums me out that it doesn't work.

EDIT: To mcdavis - My apologies. You were right it must have been an addon. =)

Anyhow, as always this a great theme!

iridium

This is a very clean look and texture! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is a very nice look and frankly I am surprised you haven't had more people using this. Regardless of them, well done!

Only Icons: Bookmark Shortcuts

A very helpful add-on. Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Would you consider adding a separate option to hide the folder names too? But do it the same way, where we pick and choose which ones, like you did for normal bookmarks. Thanks.

Highlight Textboxes Like Google Chrome (Orange)

Didn't work at all for me. Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Did not work at all, not on this site, not on Bing.com not on Google.com text boxes. I only tried it on those pages because I couldn't think offhand where I can find a site with a lot of text boxes.

So for me, it didn't work, not once.

TeaBiscuit

Not working properly Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Well I gave this a try and sadly it seems to break. If you click the button on the toolbar and make it change from green to red, there's no way to click the button again to toggle it back to green.

I clicked it about a dozen plus times and it never toggles back.

What saddens me about this is your addon is the only one I have ever found that includes a quick way to access the Cookies Exceptions window, I really love that feature.

Is there a way to remove the two websites that I clicked the button on? Because after I clicked the button from green to red, and now it's forever stuck on red, those two websites never stayed logged in after restarting firefox - I always have to log back in again on those two websites.

Basically what I am saying is if you will not or cannot fix the button, I would at least like to keep it for the one button access to the Exceptions window but it's inconvenient that those two websites are messed up for me.

Thanks

Show History Popup

Am I doing something wrong? Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I installed this but nothing happens after doing several searches to test it out. I am supposed to middle-click or scroll the mousewheel in the address bar or search bar right? I've done that, also elsewhere on the page but the history window for the address bar or search bar never pops open.
