AutoPager Lite

Useful, but very complicated Rated 3 out of 5 stars

This is the right addon to use for websites that one constantly visits, but that makes us click on "Next" again and again.

Note the crucial words "constantly visits". For infrequently visited sites, it is not worth the time to configure AutoPager Lite rules for those sites. Configuration of a rule requires reading documentation, navigating UI that resembles space shuttle controls, and some experimentation. I see nothing "Lite" about AutoPager Lite.

There is also automatic downloader that automatically fetches the rules for the sites that you visit. The rules usually do not work, and the privacy concerns are obvious. Thankfully, it is possible to disable it.

To summarize: there are no substitutes for AutoPager Lite, so use it when you must, and avoid it when you can.

LoL

Works great, but needs documentation Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Pros: It works, and it works fast. The last bit is important: among HaH clones I tried, this is the only one that works without a noticeable delay. LoL is very useful, as it allows to use the browser much faster than with a mouse

Con: Lack of documentation. Some things are sufficiently non-obvious that I had to read the source code.

Useful information:
1) if the hints do not appear at the right places (happens with pages that use JavaScript to move elements around after page has loaded), then one needs to press "Regen" key (configurable in the dialog).

2) The dialog mentions that to edit key combination, one needs to press "Space", but it is not said how to delete a key combination (other than hunting in about:config). Answer: use Backspace instead of Space

3) Yes, it is possible to open a link in a new tab. The trick is to hold Ctrl key when releasing the Magic button. The reason is that HaH simulates the left button click, and Ctrl+"left button" open a link in a new tab. For me the problem is that my fingers want to first press Ctrl, then Magic button, and then the hint. Rather than fighting with my fingers, in KeySnail extension (highly recommended) I bound the combination Ctrl+"magic button" to call the same piece of code that is called by "magic button" The JavaScript code that one needs to use in KeySnail handler is simply "hah.enterMagicKey(ev,arg);". I hope this is helpful to others, too.

Comment: I do not know why I need to press "Regen" key manually rather than having hints automatically regenerated before hints are displayed. If it gets annoying, I will try to patch the extension appropriately, but it is only a minor issue for me.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.5).
