About 2 weeks ago, Flash stopped working on my Ubuntu box without apparent reason. I'm not a Linux newbie. Tried several times to fix it. Googled for solutions, reinstalled the flash plugin installer, checked for other incompatible packages, created symbolic links and whatever. I spend about 45 minutes total with no success.
Then I read about Flash-Aid. Installed it and voila - on the second screen it told me that there was an old flash binary in a .mozilla subdirectory of $HOME. I checked this and found it was from 2004(!). No idea why it caused trouble exactly now, it must have been there for years. Anyway, I deleted it and - Flash works!
So if you have problems with your Flash installation, give Flash-Aid a try. For me it worked like a champ, and I would wholeheartedly recommend it for anyone who experiences problems in this area.
