My Reviews

Auto-Sort Bookmarks

Moving BM's very slow Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Thought your add-on would be the ultimate solution, but it's use is negated by a huge factor: When I drag a tab to the BM side folder and into the folder of choice, it is immediately placed in alpha order and is difficult to locate. This necessitates searching for it as the tab title nor the name in the search field may not be accurate. Once found I usually need to change the name to where the 1st word in alpha order has has significance..

What happens is after the name is changed it is again immediately auto moved and this is very very slow and the wait is forever. (Not certain if this could be related to another program reading the BM list such as Google, but I haven't been able to find any connection to BM's in Google.)

What is needed is to add a time delay into the movement from when the BM is 1st brought in until it is in fact moved, so that it can be located and renamed. Presumably this could be a choice in the options. Secondly why is FF so very slow after renaming and nothing can be done until after the BM is auto moved which can be up to a minute? This is very disconcerting when bringing in several BM's one after the other (such as when several tabs are to be bookmarked), and has caused me to disable the auto move in options which really defeats the purpose of the add-on.

Auto-Sort Bookmarks

It does almost everything Rated 4 out of 5 stars

For the 1st time in the last few years I've seen the bookmarks well organized! Now I can go in and clean out perhaps a few hundred old and meaningless entries, some of which are 15 years old.

One question which perhaps the author or another reader can make comment: At the end of the Bookmarks Menu is a folder called "Bookmarks Menu." This is a repeat of all of the entire Bookmarks Menu. I fear deleting it may also delete all of the bookmarks! How can this safely be deleted?

Sky Pilot Classic

Simply the best theme!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Thank you, Jivko for picking up the Skypilot theme which I had been using for years and consider it the best one out there -- and I've tried many over the years, none of which come close!

DictionarySearch (Official Version)

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Starting in Thunderbird add-ons DictSearch took me to this page which lists it as a Firefox add-on. 3.6.1 works fine in FX, but doesn't work in TB 3, and couldn't find a method to change the max version number in install.rdf simply because it reads it's for Firefox. Can "firefox" simply be changed to "thunderbird"?

Tab Splitter

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Was wondering why it hasn't been working & see that the site now reads that it's no longer supported. Presumably it failed a a couple of FX updates prior to 3.0.9.

New Tab King

Change shortcuts Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I'm with Arjay. A great add-on! Would like to see a method to change/add shortcuts to the programs primarily used. Also perhaps allow the shortcuts field to be moved to be below bookmarks locations.

ColorfulTabs

Update's a disaster Rated 1 out of 5 stars

The new version 6.8 default provides a black tab bar which is extremely ugly. Furthermore their forum is as slow as coal tar and I can't even sign in, so have given up on this extension and will search for another that provides colored tabs or live without them.

Smilie Inserter

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Operates fine in TB 2.0.0.17 with only one difficulty: Not only does it insert a smilie button in the Formatting Toolbar, it also adds the verbiage next to it "Insert Smilie". This is quite long and when the contacts sidebar is open it necessitates adding a scroll bar via userchrom.css in order to view the normal TB smilie icon.

"Insert Smilie" is included in the .jar as a button label, however I have been unsuccessful removing it without destroying the button entirely.

Any ideas as to how to correct this would be appreciated.

(Inadvertantly left this review in SeaMonkey as well.)

AnyColor

changes tabs Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Left this few days ago on blog, but don't see it. Using ColorfulTabs in FX3.01. and if also use AnyColor all the tabs become the same color. Is there a method to disable application to the tab bar?

Bookmark Duplicate Detector

schedule for FX3? Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Haven't used it for some time and have scores of dupes left over from 2.0.0.14. Now have moved on to 3 and guess I'll have restart 2 simply to clean up the BM's.

An approximate date as to when your extension will be updated would be appreciated. Thanks Miles

Status Buttons

Doesn't work in TB2.0.0.14 Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Reads not compatible with 2.0.0.14. Even with compatibility check disabled it doesn't work completely. It allows moving icons from Customize DropDown window or the toolbars to the far left of the Statusbar or to 1 position only on the right, but not between other icons already there on the right.

Could not find mention of this extension on http://clav.mozdev.org/ in order to post a bug.

Multiple Tab Handler

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This extension is great to bookmark several tabs at one time. The only difficulty is that it does not allow the user to place them in the folder of choice — it merely creates a new folder and then the BM’s must be manually moved (and presumably the “new folder” deleted).

TB Header Tools Extension

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Probably the 2nd best extension I've tried! Primary usage is for changing the Subject of incoming msgs to something that has significance.

Now to find time to spend a day or so going back through years of kept msgs! Will start with Cybernet where there are only about 450!

Copy Attachment To Clipboard

Serious bug-2 Not yet rated

Confirmed that version 0.5 causes double click on a msg not to open in a new full window. Using TB 2.0.0.12, WinXP SP2. This necessitated disabling the extension, so please notify me when it is fixed.

Exit Button Thunderbird

Why Not yet rated

Although it's a great feature for Firefox, I don't understand the purpose in TB. If several msgs are open in different windows, hitting the X closes them. And adding the Exit Button does not cause those windows to restore on the next start (is this a bug?)

Also we have the keyboard shortcut Cntrl/Q to File/Exit which is a no-brainer.

Exit Button Firefox

Great! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Placed the red button just below the "X" on the upper right and it works like a charm. Tested with 3 windows open, one with about 8 tabs, and FF was completely shut down in seconds. Then re-opened and all was preserved. Also installed it into Thunderbird where it works just as well.

The same as going to File/Exit, only much easier and the button is located where I am accustomed to going for most all programs. And it's small at only 8kb, and don't believe it adds any delay to the startup time, although I neglected to check that before and after install.

Thank you for a job very well done (Why didn't the Mozilla writers think of this a long time ago?) Hopefully they will incorporate your great little feature in version 3!

Unintrusive Rated 5 out of 5 stars

A much needed chore now performed by a small button.

Auto Zip Attachments

Just what the doctor ordered Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Had been looking for a method to zip files after attaching in TB and was told of this extension today. Great feature that does all that is needed. The only question I have is how can the default unzipper be changed?

Send Later (old)

Makes life easier! Rated 4 out of 5 stars

It doesn't exactly as claimed and it certainly makes it easy to send msgs at a later time -- such as at an ungodly hour. Furthermore, a msg to be sent later is kept in the particular account's draft folder, not in Local Folders which is quite annoying.

The only reason I give it a 9 instead of a 10 is the possibility of adding functions.
