I'm a long-time fan of Firefox, and a an admirer of those who twiddle with it with their add-ons.
I love cloud aggregator apps, but man, it cannot be a smart (secure) thing to do, lol
DuckDuckGo (DDG) is not only an enormously convenient way to ninja search (using so-called !bang commands in the awesome bar when duckduckgo is the default search engine) but also offers so many creatively generous features and "goodies" that you almost feel bad all that talent isn't making off with some Google-like cash. DuckDuckGo says "do no evil" and insists it does not track, bubble or collect demographic information about you. To paraphrase Justin Timberlake in 'The Social Network' -- DuckDuckGo just is.. cool. Give 'er a spin! AFThis review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.2.39).
Long time fan of this early social bookmarking site that recently opened up premium memberships (option for private pearls). Great way to find similar sites or use it a search engine. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (6.0.15).
Pocket does exactly what it suggests -- lets you 'pocket' web pages for later reference. You can save pages for later rather than just URLs and pocket can convert them into a more 'readable' format a la Readability or Evernote's Clearly. I'd give the service 5 stars and its Firefox add-on four but recognize that Pocket is a product under development. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.0.0).
(it's weird how 4/5 stars look -bad- on firefox)
Boounce is a better implementation of another add-on called samfind and is pretty handy.
i dont like how the main site lists the latest searches and from what search engine -- i know the dev is just trying to show its high use but it makes me uncomfortable.
still, no worse than using google.
